Ch.141 Piano Battle (3)

The flames of war were unstoppable over there. Several people who were practicing have gathered where the fight was going on.

Xiao Yu whispered to Ji Xuan, "Hey, what were they talking about just now?"

Ji Xuan rolled his eyes at her. "Why do you care? Drink your...instant coffee."

Xiao Yu sighed. "Well, I was gonna ask the owner to get two glasses of water for the kids, but I don't know about interrupting them right now."

Ji Xuan, "..."

"Mama, can me and sister go look?" Xiao Ruoguang curiously leaned out from the sofa armrest, stretching his neck over to see the fight.

Xiao Yu frowned. He looked at Xiao Ruoguang, then she turned to Ji Xuan, saying with a look of scorn on her face. "He definitely takes after you in that regard."

Ji Xuan was speechless. In the end, he said ruthlessly, "Do you know how much the three of you looked like each other when you were all craning your necks to gawk at them just now?" But he was too embarrassed to admit that both his children had inherited their mother's idle, busybody nature.

Xiao Yu, "...You're talking nonsense."

Xiao Ruoguang looked confused. "Mama, what does gawk mean?"

Ji Xuan told him, "Like what you were doing just now when a fight that has nothing to do with you broke out..."

Xiao Ruoguang immediately raised his hand. "I like to gawk! Teacher says I'm a curious little kid!"

Ji Xuan, "..." What, so gawking can be explained like that, too?

Xiao Yu laughed out loud. "That's right! This is called curiosity! It's human nature, not our nature." Then, she continued stretching her neck over to watch.

Ji Xuan smiled helplessly. Ji Yu was leaning back on the sofa, watching the fight.

The first one to start playing was Xiao Xing. First, she shot a glance at Joe David before putting her hands on the piano and began playing.

Xiao Yu listened for a while. "Flight of the Bumblebee?"

On the other side, Fu Hui's face changed. Clearly, besides being surprised, she looked a little disgusted.

Ji Xuan noticed it too and asked, "What's wrong with this piece?"

Xiao Yu explained, "I guess it's usually played to show off! It's not the hardest piece, but it's definitely not simple either. The faster it is, the more a pianist can demonstrate their skill." The quiet piano shop resounded with the unique melody of the piece.

Listening to this, Xiao Yu could tell that Xiao Xing's playing wasn't bad. "It's true that she's quite talented. For the level she's playing at today, ten notes per second, it's not bad."

Ji Xuan didn't understand all this. He could see beads of sweat forming on the forehead of the young girl in front of the piano. Quite obviously, it wasn't as simple as he thought.

Nearly two minutes later, Xiao Xing got up and looked at Joe David, raising her chin proudly at him.

Fu Hui frowned. Joe David was already playing at almost 13 notes a second at 15. He was considered a once-in-a-century genius. Xiao Xing's little show was simply a joke in his eyes.

Besides, in her eyes, there was nothing about Xiao Xing's performance that was worth being proud of. But of course, this was a good accomplishment for a student.

Joe David raised an eyebrow at Xiao Xing. Then, he motioned for her to step aside. The people in the room were all impressed by Xiao Xing's playing and were all whispering amongst each other.

That was until Joe David began playing. The very same "Flight of the Bumblebee", Joe David's hands moved like shadows, and his speed was far beyond what Xiao Xing presented, surpassing even himself at age 15. Fu Hui sighed. A crushing defeat in technical skills like this could sometimes ruin a pianist.

If this girl couldn't make it through this, then she was done for. This was different than herself, however. She had already succeeded in gaining recognition in the past. Even though she failed, her heart didn't fall into a pit because of it.

But things were different for those who were still on the path of learning. When the technique that you had so much pride in was trampled over, it could even destroy your mind.

Xiao Yu, "Ah, oh..." Xiao Xing was finished!

Ji Xuan, "..." Can you not say that so casually?
