Silver Wish

Chapter 41 - Furious

Three days later - At the old castle -

After that night, her husband would call her repeatedly during the day and at night. It seemed like he wanted to check up on her just in case anything had changed. Nothing had changed; of course, it was still the same pattern as before. Nevertheless, Lila gradually felt her body weakening due to the severe blood loss every night. She drinks Kiryus blood, but it was not enough to get rid of the damage completely.

Lila was tossing on the bed uncomfortable. Her stomach hurt, so she decided to skip dinner - something only possible because Kiryu went out.

Kotori-chan did not lecture her like before. She knew the girl was avoiding her, but Lila could not understand why. It is not like they parted on bad terms.

Her phone rings, and she picked it up.

"Hey, you." The voice on the other end seemed drunk again, and Lila sighs deeply.

"Quit drinking. Whenever you call your drunk and end up spouting nonsense."

"Sorry."

It was just one word, and yet she felt so much sadness behind it.

"Forget it, talk to me. I am bored." She tried training earlier on, but it did her no good. She felt faint after five minutes and had to stop.

It is strangely peaceful in this castle. Lila does not have to worry about the creatures of the night. It seemed like they did not come here.

Haruka chuckled softly. "Is Kiryu not there?"

"I haven't seen him in three days."

Lila knew there was something wrong with him after they had that stadium discussion. However, she did not think he would take off after that.

"So, you're lonely without him and need me?"

"You're the one who said that."

However, maybe she was. The last three days, even if Haruka did not call her, she would randomly message him. It was almost like she was making up for the time she did not contact him.

"Are you at another party?"

"Mm, mingling," Haruka mumbled. "But, this is for information."

Indeed those are the best places to go to for that. "I don't hear music."

"That is because I snuck off." He sounded pleased.

"What did you find?"

"Some newspaper articles and books on this incident where Zane's parents tried to kill him. Also, there are some strange undėrġȧrmėnts here, so I ȧssume this room owner has a woman."

Lila rolled her eyes at the last part but pondered on what he just said. "Zane's parents tried to kill him?"

But wasn't this whole thing due to his grudge against her mother for killing his parents? Lila knew there was something more to all of it. However, she still thought that was the central part.

"Ya."

"You're drunk, go get some water," Lila mumbled. "This conversation will not go anywhere."

"I'm sober enough to tell you that you're pretty."

"Haruka," Lila said, her voice sharp. "You know I am not okay with you drinking so much. I know you are there for information, but you ought to—" She hears the sound of shuffling.

"Are you there with somebody?"

It was a stupid question, of course, somebody was with him.

"Mm, yeah." Haruka said. "Rikka, are you awake?"

Lila felt sick. She knew they were not doing anything, but after Haruka just commented on some strange undėrġȧrmėnts, drunk and clearly in a bedroom, she felt terrible.

"Get off."

She wanted to end the call but felt something would happen if she did that. So she waited. It was hard to make out what was happening with the muffled voices, but she kept repeating in her head to trust him. The love he showed her was no lie, and yet whenever they are not together, she felt stupid and uneasy.

Her heart beat rapidly, but she clicked the accept buŧŧon.

Lila did not know what she expected to find. Evidence of Haruka cheating? However, instead, all she saw was her husband slightly drunk, and clothes seemed normal. The only different thing was the fresh wound on his cheek.

"Did she hit you?" Again another stupid question, but Lila felt strange.

"Ya." Haruka sighs. "Dont cry."

"Im not crying." She was on the verge of tears. She did not know why she was, but she felt bad.

"Look." Haruka trailed off. "This is not easy for either of us since we cannot see each other. However, you resolved your self to be away from me, remember?"

Indeed she did that. She genuinely thought she could do it. For a while, after she came to Star Town, she did not think of her husband at all. It sounded terrible, but so much was happening then. When things finally settled down, she was more concerned for Kiryu than anybody else. "I don't like sleeping alone."

It was something completely unrelated to what he just said. But she genuinely felt this way.

"That doesn't sound convincing when your sleeping with Austin Kiryu every night."

"That only started three days ago," Lila said. "How long has Rikka stayed by your side warming your sheets?"

She did not want to argue with him. But she suddenly felt so angry at him.

Haruka frowned. "Why do you have to put it that way?"

"Then what other way do I have to put it?"

Before she could hear his reply, somebody took the phone from her hands. Lila glanced over and saw Kiryu. "She will call you back after some dinner," Kiryu said, ending the call quickly.

Lila looked away. "It was not my fault."

"It was not?" Kiryu repeated.

"That jerk." She muttered. "He is always going to strange places and making me worry. He is not by my side right now. So I am more uneasy than before. That is why I wish he would just stay put."

"I am not standing up for him, but those are indeed the best places to obtain information."

"The drinking?"

"He has to blend in. He cant just not drink when everybody else in his surroundings is."

"Sleeping with Rikka-san?"

At that comment, Kiryu paused. "Lila, that sounds misleading."

".."

"You're making it sound like he is doing it with her."

"They were on the same bed, drunk at a party," Lila emphasized the word bed. She felt that strange churning sensation in her stomach again.

"Rosalia often got drunk to the point she passed out. I had to find accommodation for her too."

Lila threw a pillow at him and buried her face in the sheets. "Go away."

Why is Kiryu defending Haruka so strongly? Isn't this where he should be on her side? Her thoughts broke off when she heard shuffling. Kiryu had climbed onto the bedside.

"You know it is killing me every time I defend him. I want it to be exactly like what you said so you could leave him and return to me. Nevertheless, both of us know him better than that, right?"

"I just don't want Rikka by his side."

Kiryu nodded. "Yeah."

"I just want to see him soon."
