Silver Wish

Chapter 42 - A little while longer

It felt strange to admit this even though she was the one who pushed him away. She was the one who abandoned him. But it felt like her thoughts were going crazy recently. Now she finally understood why, its not like she stopped thinking of him.

Haruka was always on her mind. Yet she was always so busy and kept occupied. Now that she is stuck here recovering with nothing to do her mind is playing tricks on her again.

"Do you think he is angry?"

She said some terrible things there.

"He might be." Kiryu agreed. "But his anger will vanish and he will call you again."

Lila was not so sure about the latter.

Rikka will take advantage of this for sure. Haruka being Haruka might actually believe that Rikka means well. But then where does that leave their relationship? All those sweet words they exchanged, all those promises, all that pain and suffering?

Kiryu slipped a envelope in her hands causing her to blink

Kasumi's handwriting?

Lila or Kiryu whoever finds this.

(Preferably Lila)

If you do not see me around that means I succeeded in going after the stadium.

I know this may seem crazy. But before it disappeared I was onto something.

I investigated the Dream stars participants and discovered that everybody was an ability user.

Lila paused at this part in the note. Everybody is an ability user? Now that she thought about it there were occasions where she thought it was like that. The others had more stamina and would train for longer hours than the average human body would allow. At first she thought it was because everybody were professionals.

However, gradually, she realized something was wrong. Then again, with everything happening in her surroundings, it was difficult to determine what was happening.

Disturbed the balance, huh? Lila stopped reading and put the note away.

Kiryu raised his eyebrow. "Not interesting enough for you?"

"No, it is." Lila trailed off. Judging from how lengthy the letter was, Kasumi must have prepared this during the time she investigated. She then hid it in a place where she or Kiryu could find it.

"Kiryu, will you tell me how you escaped from Rosalia-chan?"

"What does that have to do with Kasumi's note?" Kiryu trailed off when she leaned forward. "Hey, is this a bribe?"

Lila sighed and rested her head in his arms. "Tired, but keep talking."

She felt drained mentally and physically. She did not mean to shout at Haruka like that, but she was tired - tired of guessing what he was up to. Tired of ȧssuming strange things are happening.

If only he could reassure her that he was not doing anything. If it were in the past, he would have done that. However, it seems like in the present, and he is no longer bothering with excuses. Is this also because something had changed?

"It was not easy to escape; I think that woman has lost it now. She chained me to the wall nȧkėd." Kiryu trailed off. "I would like you to form a visual image of that part."

Lila hits him, and Kiryu laughed. "See, it seems like you have your energy back."

What a carefree laugh. It seems strange for either of them to relax during these peril times.

"Ah-huh, and then?"

"Well, I will censor the next part. It seems like she is very fond of torture and doing that."

Lila recalled the bruises and markings she saw on Haruka before. She already knew it from that time. However, Lila ȧssumed that Rosalia would not do that to Kiryu. Why would she do that to the man she loves? But it seems like she has underestimated this person.

Kiryu does not have any scars that she could see, but she knew he had them.

"Afterwards?"

"During the time she was very high and passed out, I managed to slip away. I knew she would keep the keys with her, so I waited for that opportunity. I managed to disguise as a guard, but it did not last long since my abilities went out of control."

"You still escaped in that situation?"

"Lady luck was on my side, meaning." Kiryu pulled something familiar out. It was a pendant with an amethyst colored stone in the center. The glass looked damage, but the stone did not fall out.

He loves her so much, but all she could do was push him away. All she could do was maintain a distance.

But even that became increasingly difficult. Why did she allow Kiryu to kiss her like that? Indeed, she did not kiss him back, but it still felt wrong.

"So when this saved me, I figured that maybe it could be a key."

Lila blinked at this sudden revelation. Here she was having strange thoughts, and Kiryu genuinely thought of a solution. "Are you saying these stones have a power that we do not know of?"

Kiryu nodded. "It is worth the shot, no?"

Honestly, there was nothing to lose. "Tomorrow?"

A troubled look appeared on his face. For a moment, Lila forgot about it until he mumbled date. Ah, that is right tomorrow-- still, Lila looked at the stone. The glass protecting it had a large crack. Usually, it would have fallen out, but it remains there undamaged.

"Tomorrow," Lila said firmly.

At that comment Kiryu leaned forward and rested his lips on her forehead. A gentle kiss that made her feel well mushy and warm. She felt his fingers lace with her own. It is wrong for her to feel happy now.

Kasumi's urgent letter, her fight with Haruka - where the other guys went. Many things are occurring, and yet here she is smiling like a fool because Kiryu is with her.

"Do you feel bad? You skipped dinner."

"Yes."

Kiryu pointed to the bag on the side. "Is your stomach too upset for some meat buns?"

At that comment, her eyes brightened, and she laughed softly. "I guess I can make an exception."

"Cool, those are for you then." Kiryu extended his arm out and took the bag from the bedside table. He put a pillow on the headboard and sat her up. He tucked the blanket up to her knees.

Lila watched him carefully before she laughed again. It seems like she can smile again when she is around this person.. It is wrong for her to feel happiness now, but just for a little while longer.
