Chapter 105 - Talk

"Did he ask about me?"

Kiryu nodded. "Although he was trying to be considerate about my feelings, so he didn't ask as much as he ought to have." He trailed off. "Well, you two met again a year later in light town anyway, so it was good I didn't say much."

It is funny how fate works; it seems no matter what, she would have indeed crossed paths with Haruka eventually.

"When he asked about you, I could tell how much he loved you, so I confronted him about it." Kiryu sighed. "He was being so stubborn, so I hit him."

Lila frowned at his words. "Did you have to hurt his face? It's so handsome like a piece of art."

"You and your fetishes." Kiryu rubbed the back of his neck. "He was acting so stupid and foolish. But he cried, so of course, I couldn't say anymore."

"He cried?" Lila felt a sudden pain in her ċhėst at the thought.

Haruka has seldom cried since they first dated, no since she went to Light town. But it broke her heart seeing him that way during the few occasions where he did cry. He looked like he was in so much pain.

"He cried when he said he wanted to see you so badly. Then he told me the reason why he was thinking of entering the entertainment industry. Even if he couldn't see you personally, as long as he is in the industry, he can get a glance."

"He should have just come to see me."

"When he heard you were entering the dream stars tournament, it seems he resolved himself at last." Kiryu trailed off. "I wish he warned me in advance, though. I didn't think he would suddenly show up in town."

Lila laughed. "I remember how shocked you were when you saw him with me."

"It scared me so much. I thought I saw a ghost."

"It is strange that we can talk about this now," Lila mumbled. "We couldn't do so back then."

Is it because their everyday lives have turned upside down? Back when the world was normal, they could not discuss important matters without getting emotional.

"Even if we talk about this now, it's not like you will change your mind, right?"

"Mm, that is correct. Do you want to stop for now?"

"If that is alright, can we continue this once everything has returned to normal?" Kiryu trailed off. "Kasumi did say we have to work together. I will have a hard time working with the girl who stepped over my heart-"

Lila stepped on his foot then, and Kiryu yelped in pain.

"You're still as violent as ever. Hey, do you do that to Haruka too?"

"As if. I act cute in front of him, so he likes me more."

"What a fraud."

Her eyes twitched, annoyed. "Why are you standing around here anyway? Don't you have work to do?"

"Right, right." Kiryu walked towards the door but paused. "Lila."

"What is it?"

"I think it's okay to tell Haruka about the past."

"But he is happier now." Lila looked down at her feet. "I can tell him stories about the past, but him actually regaining his memories I cannot allow."

"Do you truly think he is happy in a world where he cannot remember how he fell in love with you?"

Kiryu's words felt like a sharp knife wound. It is not like she doesn't understand that. She would also hate it, not remembering how she fell in love with Haruka or forgetting all those moments they spent together.

"Just think about it."

After Kiryu left, Lila stood in that spot for a few minutes before she headed back to the room in a daze. 'I need to decide what to do before it eats away at my consciousness.'

It seems like everybody around her wants Haruka to get his memories back. They all have different reasons, but other than Kiryu's reasoning, the others aren't considerate of Haruka.

That makes sense; they did not like him.

She eventually arrived in front of the bedroom and slowly opened the door. The lights were out, indicating that he must have gone to sleep. Lila slowly crept onto the bed and buried her face in Haruka's ċhėst. She truly does not want to lose him again.

Her gaze fell on his neck's visible scar, causing her to clench her fist.

'If I didn't leave him, then he would not have had to experience that. I left such a visible opening; of course, those people would take advantage of it.'

She already saw how Sophia treated Haruka. Aah, just thinking about it frustrated her. Lila climbed on top of Haruka and stared at his face.

There was a faded scar from a deep knife wound on his cheek. Sophia probably did this too; that woman is crazy. She already saw with her own eyes, yet she still left Haruka alone.

Back then, her emotions were in turmoil; she suddenly went to New York after that fight with Haruka regarding Rika-san. Although she felt happy spending time with him, her emotional state was still not the best.

"Hey." Haruka said half dazed.

"Mm, sorry for waking you."

"It is alright, are you finished now?"

"Yes."

'I should discuss the details with him too; he has the right to know. But now probably isn't the best time.' Still, whenever they are in a situation like this, she can't help but feel- her thoughts broke off when he ran his hands through her back.

"What?"

"Mmm, I just had this strange thought. My husband, you don't feel disgusted touching me even though you have no memories?"

"It's more like I need to keep my hands off you. For some reason, I have this urge to touch you all the time."

Her sweat fell at those words. So even without memories, that part of him does not change. Then again, he is controlling himself instead of acting on it.

Lila wrapped her arms around his neck. "It's not weird; you used to do that all the time. To the point, I questioned the nature of our relationship."

She questioned and pondered about the state of their relationship a lot.. But even with those doubts, she remained with him.
