Silver Wish

Chapter 106 - If only

"I'm sorry for making you feel bad."

She shook her head. "No, even though I complained. I'm starting to miss it a little."

She doesn't mind the current Haruka. But, sometimes, he felt like a stranger to her. At the very least, in the past, Haruka would use touching her as a way to convey his feelings. However, the current Haruka, who has no memories, has nothing to show.

Yet, he doesn't have to. 'I can tell he loves me even though he has lost all his memories.' This is very strange. Back when he had his memories, she doubted him a lot, but now that he doesn't have them, she suddenly trusts him.

"Wife, this is a bit dangerous."

Lila immediately understood but buried her face in his neck. "I want you to understand something. The reason I don't want you to regain your memories is because I truly believe that your past will continue to haunt you."

No matter how happy they were, Haruka's past always snuck on them. It led to a series of misunderstandings.

"But I want to remember how I fell in love with you. How did I end up deserving such a beautiful wife?"

"Because you're a good person," Lila mumbled. "Your kindness saved me, even though in the past you didn't realize it."

"The past me sounds like a terrible man. I know you have been trying to hide it from me, Lila. But I did my own research on the net. It seems I was quite famous; a simple search is all it took for me to learn things."

"I wanted to censor those, but I realized it is futile. If you step out of this place and people recognize you, they will confront you immediately. I would rather you have the knowledge for people's dislike rather than be clueless."

"Even though I was like that in the past, you still chose me over him?"

"So you learned that too."

Haruka nodded. "I thought it was weird. I mean, you seemed to care a lot about him but kept him at arm's length." He trailed off. "If you were together before, it makes more sense."

Lila sensed his tone faltering and lifted her face from his neck to see his uneasy expression.

"Even without memories, you are still worried." Lila trailed off. "It's true I used to date Kiryu, but the one I married. The one I have a child with is you."

The one she wants to be with forever is Karashima Haruka. 'I can say this with conviction unlike before.' Lila gently ċȧrėssed his cheeks.

"Do you trust me?"

"I do," Haruka mumbled. "Even though I probably shouldn't."

Lila laughed at his words. He said the same thing back then too.

It took all her willpower to get out of the bed the following morning. She wanted nothing more than to stay nestled in Haruka's embrace, but she snapped out of that trance quickly. She has a lot of work to attend to before the day gets busier; she wants to cook a proper meal for Haruka.

So this is how she found herself in the kitchen staring at a battered-looking cookbook. It is hard to believe this is a new book considering the state it is in. Let's see for this next part- her thoughts broke off when she felt somebody staring at her. There stood Haruka in the doorway.

"Ah, good morning."

"Morning, Lila."

Oh, it seems like he is still half asleep. "Why don't you go back to sleep?"

Back before all of this happened, there was no option to just return to sleep. After all, both of them were busy people. Sometimes Haruka would leave before the sun rose too.

Haruka shook his head. "Mmm, no. I want to cook together, I promised you."

Her gaze softened. "Alright, what should we make? I got all the ready."

"Then I want your omelets."

Lila laughed softly. "Mmm, you like those a lot. So I'll show you how I make it."

It didn't take them long before they started; she first finished up what she was making before pushing it aside. Lila watched Haruka concentrate as he waited for the right time to flip the egg on the frying pan. This is nice, in the past they couldn't spend such peaceful moments like this. Although this isn't the first time, they cooked together.

Back then, there were so many interruptions. Though they had some peace in London, when they returned to Star Town, things became chaotic. There was the thing with Aizawa Mei and then later on Rikka-san.

Lila sighed deeply at the memory. 'I had way too many romantic rivals.' But, all these people who she felt so threatened by, where were they now?

Aizawa Mei supposedly got plastic surgery and looks like Rikka-san now. Lila didn't even want to imagine that.

Rika-san has already said her last goodbye to Haruka. She doesn't even want to meet with him for one last time.

There is one more, but she doesn't want to think of that one.

Oh, but that other one aside, there was somebody else wasn't there? That girl who participated in the Dream stars tournament with her.

Her thoughts broke off when she spotted Haruka's gaze on her. He was looking at her with a passionate and hungry gaze. Lila almost dropped the bowl, but Haruka quickly caught it.

"Are you feeling okay?" He trailed off as he placed the bowl on the counter. "Yesterday, I stopped but perhaps--"

Lila frantically shook her head. "That's not it, just now that look you gave me."

'It resembled the way he looked at her in the past.'

Haruka seemed puzzled but nodded. "I guess I should refrain from looking at you so much. My bad."

Uh--wait, wait- why does he look so disappointed? Lila traced the words she just said and wanted to mentally facepalm. He definitely misunderstood.

She took a deep breath before she buried her face in his back. "One of the things I missed was you touching me. Even though you were unreasonable about it, it felt like you didn't respect me at times. It made me feel safe and loved."

'I used to think that he did that a lot because he was a horny idiot, but perhaps there was more to it.'

"I didn't respect you?"

Lila laughed lightly. "Well, you would touch me regardless of time and place. While I understood you did that because you loved me. Everybody else misunderstood."

"If it is like that, then I really shouldn't touch you-"

"You don't want to? Do you still feel uncomfortable around me?" Lila paused. "Is it because you don't have your memories?"

'But he was okay touching me without.'

Haruka must have understood her mindset since he quickly said. "When you didn't have your memories, it felt like we could relate to each other more."

So is that why he is unconsciously distancing himself from her? Lila wondered if Haruka noticed it, but sometimes their conversations are very short even though it looks like he wanted to talk to her more.

When she didn't have her memories, huh? It was a thing she deliberately did to herself to confuse the enemy, but perhaps she went overboard. If she had her memories from the start when Haruka first arrived, then perhaps the situation would be different now. But it is already too late to have those regrets.

Her thoughts broke off when Haruka held her tightly. 'If only they could remain like this forever..' But it truly seems like a future where they can be happy is difficult.
