Silver Wish

When she says stuff like this, he cannot help but feel useless. It is true without his memories, no matter how much they explain, he will still have a weak understanding. But it frustrated him, 'I want to protect her. She works so hard for me, but I cannot do anything.'

Haruka knew if he told her these feelings, she would be upset with him, so he kept it to himself. She seems to be just satisfied with his presence beside her. Is it because they were apart for a while?

Why were they even apart from each other for so long? It didn't make any sense to him.

His thoughts broke off when he saw Lila staring at him and recalled her request from earlier. They already cuddled, and he gave her kisses. That leaves the bath thing. Haruka debated about it for a few minutes before he scooped her up in his arms.

"Haruka?"

"Your clothes are dirty; you have dust all over you. You should take a bath."

Lila's face color turned scarlet as she remembered. "Ahem. I did say we could take one but maybe not now, not when I am like this."

Sensing her firm refusal, Haruka frowned. "Is it because of me?"

At those words, Lila suddenly leaned forward and cupped his cheeks. "No, you know I don't mind, but like any normal person, I get embarrassed."

She gets embarrassed when she does these things with him? Haruka looked at her blankly, not quite understanding why she would get embarrassed over this.

At those words, Lila sighed. "Right, you were this type of person. Uh, forget it. Let's take one."

Isn't she just forcing herself now? Haruka, however, knew better than to question her, knowing they would not get anywhere. So he brought her to the bathroom. It was rather small and cramped, and the tub was bȧrėly large enough for one person, let alone two. But it seemed like Lila didn't care about that.

The girl used it as a chance to get closer to him, which is why he couldn't complain.

"Is this okay for you?"

"Hmm?"

"The bath is small."

Lila laughed softly. "I don't mind."

"I know, but I'd like you to experience nothing but the best."

Lila's gaze softened. "You know you said the same thing to me when we first dated, that you would give me the best."

"! did?"

"Mmm, even though I was born into a wealthy family. My circumstances were unusual. I had a roof over my head, but I didn't exactly experience luxury. You knew my situation very well, and so when we started dating, you tried to spoil me with luxuries."

Even though he doesn't remember, it seems that he does subconsciously. His thoughts broke off when Lila turned around and wrapped his arms around his neck.

"But I didn't need any of that." Lila trailed off. "When we went to London for the competition, we lived in a fairly nice apartment. It was small; you didn't get a large place because it would attract attention. But I liked it there. I want to return there when this is all over."

"You don't want to stay in Japan?"

"I don't, because when we are there, you always looked like you were in pain, But when we went abroad to London and New York, you seemed more carefree. Haruka, I want to live with you like that again. I want to wake up and fall asleep in your arms like it is the most natural thing in the world."

For some reason, hearing her say that made him feel strange. A strange feeling appeared in his ċhėst, and his thoughts broke off when Lila cupped his cheeks.

"Your crying."

"I-"

Lila bit her lip and hugged him tightly. "I'm so sorry for everything, Haruka. I should never have left you alone. Even if it was difficult, I should have remained with you and worked together to find a solution. But instead, I left thinking it would be for the best."

Despite her vague-sounding explanation, Haruka was starting to get a clearer picture now. From what he has learned so far, they went on a trip to New York, and his wife left him there. The reason she left, it seems, was due to the situation in Japan. She thought he would be safe in New York without her. But it was the opposite; instead, something happened- he looked down at the visible scars on his body.

'I must have been kidnapped and tortured.' It was the only way to explain the severe wounds that do not heal. Even if the bleeding has long stopped, the scars do not go away,

His own tears did not matter; right now, the girl was crying too. He leaned forward and licked the edge of her eyes.

"Lila." He mumbled.

It seems foreign and yet familiar.

How many times has he called her name in the past?

"Please don't cry. I don't like it when you cry. I like it when you smile; it always cheers me up and gives me hope."

"This is the first time you have said that." She laughed softly. "Is it because you don't have any memories? But you're so honest now."

"Was I not like this before? Was I a bad husband?" Haruka asked.

He finally found the right moment to ask her this question. "I have always wondered this entire time why your friends dislike me. Will you tell me how I treated you?"

Lila seemed to hesitate, but she nodded her head. She only spoke for ten minutes, but he had to stop her. It was hard for him to listen to this story. It is not like he mistreated her or anything; it seemed like the past, him did love and care for her a lot. But he was too possessive; no, he was too insecure and kept her to himself a lot.

It makes sense why her friends are so bitter; they couldn't spend much time with her after they started going out.

"Haruka?"

"That was stupid of me. It's not like you would have cared for me less if you spent less time with me."

"Mm, it was stupid, but it is not like I did not understand. You were uneasy and frightened to lose me. All your life, you have never had anything good happening to you. That was why when you finally had something good happen, you did not want to lose it." Lila trailed off. "It is human nature to turn greedy when you finally have something you want."

"But your not my possession, your you."

He felt her lips on his cheek.

"You are sweet, Haruka. Mmm, I knew it; this was why you always looked down. You always wanted to tell me this, but you felt you couldn't because of your behavior." Lila laughed. "Maybe I can get more answers from you now?"

"I will answer everything."
