22. Confession

Translator: Ann Yi

This was the first time that the jade slips reacted like that to the soul of a human being. No wonder the Patriarch was so surprised.

“What are you doing?! Just make it quick if you want to kill me!!” Larry was held by the old fox fairy. He felt a sting on his fingertip. ‘This old fox is performing bloodletting on me!’

‘Is he gonna use my blood to do something strange? For example, to cultivate poisonous insect, or cast a blood curse?’

The Patriarch felt that Larry was really noisy, but he was also curious about what secrets Larry hid from him.

“Who are you?”

The Patriarch looked dignified and serious. Although all his hair had turned grey, he looked just like a man in his forties. From his deep, profound eyes, one could see the passing of time. He was in fact an old man who had weathered the storm.

Larry really wanted to yell at him, but he was scared! So he answered honestly… with his instinct of being an entertainment celebrity.

“Yo~yo~ I used to live in City Guava; I had a house and a nice big Toyota; I’m good at nothing but starring dramas; I drink no beer but Coca Cola. One day I stomach ache; it was more than I could take; so I went to the hospital late; where an accident did take place…”

“Enough!!!” The Patriarch resisted his impulse to slap Larry on his face.

He looked gloomy, and clenched his teeth, “I. Hate. Raps.”

Huh?

Larry let out an awkward chuckle. Then he wanted to laugh so much as he realized the old fox did not only cultivate in the mountains, but he also listened to musics and even developed his own tastes. Hahahahahahahahahaha! !

‘Fox fairies also listen to musics? Haha! Shouldn’t you be diligent in your cultivation in the mountains? Haha! So you aren’t as detached as you claim to be. Haha!!!’

However, Larry didn’t dare to laugh out loud. He lowered his head and bit his lips, afraid that the old man would kill him if he found Larry was laughing.

Seeing that Larry remained silent and that he was trembling on the ground as if he was extremely frightened, the Patriarch didn’t continue to stare at him as if he meant to kill Larry with his gaze.

“Name!” he said in a low voice.

“Larry.” His name was exactly the same as that of the original owner of the body. The original owner was originally named “Foxy”, but wasn’t it like telling people straightaway that he was a fox fairy? The original body owner didn’t want to act as stupid as his Uncle Master who named himself “Foxit”, the man who visited Frost’s place as a WCA member the other day.

So he changed his name to “Larry”.

“Where are you from?”

“City Guava”

“What do you do?”

“Drama…err… drama audience and office worker.” Larry dared not say he was actually a TV drama star.

“Why do you occupy my apprentice’s body?

“Please let me explain! I didn’t do it on purpose. I just went to have an appendectomy. But something went wrong during the operation! And when I woke up, I found myself in a fox’s body…”

He didn’t tell him about the Black and White Guards. Anyway, the purpose for his rebirth was to find the truth about his death, and his soul ended up being in a fox fairy’s body was totally an accident.

What’s more, the moment he entered the little fox’s body, he was neutered. He was the one who suffered greater losses here!

“How do you learn the dirty technique of the Evelynn Foxclan?

‘This old fox had a really bad memory! Didn’t I tell you just now? Your dear apprentice June taught me that!’

“Junior June taught me that! She said that I’d be able to transform into human form by doing that. I really didn’t know that the gang fight among the foxclans was so intense!”

The Patriarch stared thoughtfully at Larry. He believed that Larry didn’t dare to lie.

It was a good thing that Larry was not from any secular cultivation sects but just an ordinary person. Although it was too coincidental, as long as he had no one to back him up, the old fox fairy wouldn’t have to worry about what Larry would do to him next.

Larry didn’t expect this old fox to let him go after he told him the truth.

Perhaps this old fox would force him to stay and work in the mountains, which would be the best result. The worst scenario for him was to be killed.

“Sir, you see, I’ve told you everything. I didn’t deliberately use your apprentice’s body, and I cannot come out now. How about you help me get out of this body?”

This time, the Patriarch was unexpectedly obliging. “In that case, I’ll do as you wish and help you get out of my apprentice’s body.”

Larry looked up at the Patriarch wonderingly; then he immediately lowered his head, thinking that the old man must be up to no good to offer him help so willingly.

Just now, he insisted on killing Larry, but now he actually offered to help Larry get out of this body. Did he think that Larry was a fool?

Larry was complaining silently, but he looked happy. “Thank you a lot, old kind sir!”

The Patriarch’s face twitched twice. This was the first time in his long life that someone said that he was old to his face.

With a wave of his hand, a Man in Black, dressed just the same as the man who robbed Larry here, walked up and brought Larry away.

Larry was flustered. He didn’t know where he would be taken. ‘How come no one was here to save me? Even if Blacky and Whitey can come, it would be good!’

After Larry was taken away, the Patriarch held the set of jade slips in his hand and thought about it. Perhaps the jade slips didn’t need spiritual power, but actually a sacrifice as a container of its power?

However, for so many years, all the souls of the foxes had been sifted through the jade slips. Nothing unusual had ever happened. This was the first time that the jade slips had ever acted abnormally. That kid was a mortal, yet he was able to take over his apprentice’s body without getting injured. Even someone with cultivation would be rejected if he entered another fairy’s body.

People with powerful spiritual powers might be able to suppress the rejection of the original owners when they occupied the bodies, but Larry was just a mortal when he was alive . When he occupied his apprentice’s body, Larry was also dying.

No matter what, what happened to Larry was too coincidental.

Since the jade slips couldn’t pull out his soul, the Patriarch decided to use another way to force Larry’s soul out!

The sharpness in the eyes of the Patriarch was not concealed, and he was no longer that kind-looking old Patriarch of the Astraea Foxclan.

……

Stardust Mountain was very large. If one walked on foot, it would take him at least three days to walk through the whole mountain. Besides the planned route by the scenic spot organizers, there were still many undeveloped areas.

The two people and one cat entered the forest following the burning paper crane. The paper crane, which was supposed to lead the way, acted like it was drunk after it entered the mountain area.

“What’s wrong?” Frost looked at the paper crane and asked Mirrocle.

Mirrocle tried to stabilize the paper crane, but the paper crane that had been flying in circles fell directly to the ground and the fire went out after it flapped its wings a little.

“This mountain is full of all kinds of fairy auras. The paper crane got confused and it couldn’t tell one aura from another. I’ll try to trace the aura bit by bit by myself.” Mirrocle came from a magic school a mountain. Ever since he went down the mountain, he had been busy making money and catching fairies and demons. So firstly, he had no time to travel, and secondly, he didn’t think it was fun traveling through a mountain.

So this was the first time he came to Stardust Mountain. Fairy auras were everywhere on the mountain, but to their surprise, the atmosphere was not disgusting. On the contrary, when they just entered the scenic area and when the fresh air reached the tip of his nose, Frost unconsciously took a deep breath.

The fragrance of the grasses and the trees was so pleasant. For some reason, they couldn’t help taking a deep breath. Once they sucked in the air, they felt like their lungs, which had sucked in a lot of exhaust gas and dust in the city, had been washed clean by the pleasant air.

“The living environment of the fox fairies is very good. Where should we go now?” Frost could only tell that the air on the mountain road was good. As to how to find the little fox, he had to depend on Mirrocle.

“Let’s go to the staff dormitory on the mountain. ”

“What?”

“Meow meow meow???”
