243. I Want to Dote on You

Translator: Bryan

Previously Yan Chuyang had been unaware that Song Huaiqi had feelings for him, so Yan Chuyang had naturally regarded Song Huaiqi as a friend and looked up to him, holding him in high esteem, but now Yan Chuyang had come to know that Song Huaiqi had feelings for him. Yan Chuyang could not pretend otherwise.

Not feeling the same way about Song Huaiqi, Yan Chuyang believed that he should stay far away from Song Huaiqi, otherwise the misunderstanding would deepen. The more emotionally involved he was, the worse the pain would be.

Wei Qing frowned suspiciously, “Why are you so honest about it today?” Yan Chuyang used to be very protective of Song Huaiqi.

“Isn’t it a good thing?” Yan Chuyang turned to stare into Wei Qing’s eyes and said tentatively, “You’re the one I have feelings for. You’re not comfortable with the idea of me being close to him, so I’ll stay away from him. I don’t want you to be angry. I want you to be happy.”

Wei Qing’s heart lurched twice, his brain dizzy from Yan Chuyang’s pleasing words.

“Wait.” Wei Qing shook his groggy head and, staring at Yan Chuyang, said, “Why are you saying such things? Yan Chuyang, did something happen back there? Tell me the truth. You…”

“Wei Qing.” Yan Chuyang suddenly furrowed his brows and, grimacing, changed the subject. “My shoulder hurts like hell. Take a look at it and see if my wound reopened.”

The look in Wei Qing’s eyes flickered. He leaned over, removed the quilt from Yan Chuyang’s shoulder and looked at his wound.

The wound was neatly bandaged and there was no trace of blood oozing out.

“It didn’t reopen. There’s no blood.”

“Eh…” Yan Chuyang blinked in guilt. “Really? But why does it hurt so bad?”

“Stop trying to change the topic,” Wei Qing interrupted him, straightening his back. He leaned against the back of his chair again and the apathetic look reappeared on his face. Arms folded over his chest, he said, “I need you to be honest with me. Did Song Huaiqi say something to you last night?”

Why else would he be so obedient today? Wei Qing found it very suspicious that Yan Chuyang on his own initiative offered to stay far away from Song Huaiqi.

“No. Really.” Yan Chuyang reached his hand out of the quilt, held the lower hem of Wei Qing’s shirt, shook it and said in a low voice, “I just want you to be happy. I like you, and I want to please you. I won’t do anything you don’t want me to. I want to dote on you. Can’t I do that?”

Wei Qing’s heart missed a beat.

He thought, “‘I want to dote on you.’

“My God.”

“He’s only nineteen. Where did he learn to say such titillating words at such a young age?”

Wei Qing believed that he was mature. No matter what, he was seven or eight years older than Yan Chuyang. He also believed that he knew more about romantic relationship than Yan Chuyang did.

He didn’t know when it started, but he suddenly felt that he was the one who had been playing a passive role in his relationship with Yan Chuyang.

He seemed to be going any way Yan Chuyang wanted him to go.

Every time Yan Chuyang sweet-talked him, or titillated him, or acted docilely, Wei Qing had felt his heart melting.

Having noticed that Wei Qing’s face softened, Yan Chuyang made another effort to press home his advantage. He slid his slim fingers into Wei Qing’s shirt and, ingratiatingly stroking Wei Qing’s lean waist, said under his breath, “Don’t be mad. I’ve realized my mistakes. I shouldn’t have gone to his house without your knowledge last night.”

Wei Qing deliberately kept a poker face. “Just an apology?”

“Well…” A flush spread over Yan Chuyang’s ears. Eyes sparkling, he stared at Yan Chuyang and said, “I’ll help you when I recover, okay?”

Wei Qing was confused. “Help me? What do you mean?”

Anxious, Yan Chuyang clicked his tongue and timidly gave Wei Qing’s waist a pinch. “I mean I’ll help you. Stop playing dumb. I know you understand what I mean!”

Wei Qing’s abdomen tightened due to the pinch. He abruptly swatted Yan Chuyang’s hand away to keep him from further mischief. “If you got something to say, say it. Don’t stroke me.”

Yan Chuyang withdrew his hand with a snort. His face hardened as he said disapprovingly, “Why are you being like this? Have you any idea how long it took me to pluck up the courage to make this decision? I can’t believe you’re reacting this way.”

Wei Qing chuckled, lowered his hands, ran the thick pulp of his finger across Yan Chuyang’s soft lips and said huskily, “If you’re to help me, you can’t use your hand.”

“Hmm?”

Wei Qing stooped down and, staring fixedly into Yan Chuyang’s eyes, explained in a deep voice, “I want you to use your mouth, and I’ll help you in return.”

A warm blush rose to Yan Chuyang’s cheeks as he averted his face from Wei Qing’s eyes and said, “I don’t need your help. I have hands.”

Wei Qing couldn’t help laughing, “That will make you feel different, you know?”

Yan Chuyang burrowed his red face into the pillow. “Anyway, I don’t need your help.”

Yan Chuyang didn’t know what he was ashamed of. Only a moment ago he had offered to help Wei Qing on his own initiative, but now he found it unacceptable that Wei Qing wanted to help him in return.

He always felt that helping Wei Qing was one thing, and Wei Qing helping him was quite another.

The sight of Yan Chuyang’s flushed face aroused Wei Qing further. He was just about to lean over to titillate Yan Chuyang again when his cellphone in his pocket suddenly started vibrating.

Wei Qing pulled his cellphone from his pocket. At the sight of the number on the caller ID, his eyes grew grave. He collected his thoughts and said softly, “Close your eyes and have some rest. I’ll step outside and take this call. I’ll be back in a minute.”

Yan Chuyang replied, “Okay.”

Wei Qing stood up and walked out. After closing the door, he walked to the balcony of the hospital.

He didn’t want Yan Chuyang to overhear the phone conversation.

“Hello?” Wei Qing walked to the balcony and looked through the floor-to-ceiling window at the stream of people down below.

“Hello, Mr. Wei.”

“Have you found anything?”

“I’ve ascertained it. Footage from the surveillance cameras along the route that Mr. Yan walked along last night shows that those people started following him from Song Huaiqi’s house. They followed him for over ten minutes. When Mr. Yan reached the corner of the intersection, they showed themselves and attacked him.”

Wei Qing frowned, “They started following him from Song Huaiqi’s house?”

“Yes, and it’s very obvious that those men came out of the garage of the Song family’s mansion. They must be hiding in the garage from the very beginning. They waited until Mr. Yan walked out before they tailed him, so…”
