241. To Make You Bleed

Translator: Bryan

Yan Chuyang kept hearing the sound of footsteps from behind him. Moreover, in the moonlight he could see shadows, which meant that there was indeed someone following him. At first he thought that it was a passer-by, but when he turned his head around, that person instantly disappeared.

Yan Chuyang was on the alert. He secretly sent Wei Qing a text message asking Wei Qing to come and pick him up. He then sent his location to Wei Qing.

He wanted to walk through the complex of mansions to reach the well-lit intersection around the corner, which was a few hundred yards away. He believed that he could hail a taxi there.

But before Yan Chuyang could leave the intersection, a couple of thickset men wearing black T-shirts came out of nowhere, blocking his path, each holding a cudgel. They were wielding their cudgels threateningly.

Yan Chuyang’s back stiffened momentarily, but he soon regained his composure and walked around the man beside him, intending to leave, but he had just gone two paces when the man at the front snorted with a smile and walked over. He gave Yan Chuyang a push and, blocking his path with his shoulder, said, “Dude, don’t go yet. We need to talk.”

Yan Chuyang pushed the man’s hand aside and, face taut, said evenly, “I’m sorry, but I think you must be mistaking me for someone else. We don’t know each other.”

The man chuckled, glanced at the man behind him and said, “It’s okay if you don’t know us. We know you.”

Yan Chuyang calmly asked, “You want something from me?”

“Of course. Why else would we follow you all the way to this place?”

Yan Chuyang exhaled deeply. “If you want money, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. I don’t have any money on me right now, but you may come back with me to…”

“It’s not money that we want.” The man suddenly drew a wicked-looking dagger from his belt, shook it in front of Yan Chuyang’s eyes and said, “Someone hired us. You made an enemy of a big shot. We’re paid to make you bleed. Our employer wants to teach you a lesson.”

Yan Chuyang’s breathing became ragged. Frowning, he said, “Was it Song Huaiqi’s mother who sent you people here?”

“It doesn’t matter who sent us. We just need to do what we’re paid to do.”

As the man didn’t deny it, Yan Chuyang caught on. Song Huaiqi’s mother was the only one who would hire people to teach him a lesson.

Yan Chuyang let out a long sigh of relief and asked calmly, “How much did she pay you to do this?”

“What does that have to do with you?

“Let me go and I’ll pay you double.”

The man’s eyes darkened momentarily, but soon he said with a shake of his head, “I’m sorry, bro, but the one who paid us first is our boss. It concerns our profession ethics. We can’t break the rules, otherwise we’ll have difficulty finding another client.”

Yan Chuyang squinted. “What are you going to do? Kill me to get some money?”

“Of course not,” the man said, stroking the point of his dagger. “We don’t kill people. Don’t worry. We’ll just give you a beating and have you lie in the hospital for a week or two, and you’ll lose some blood too so that our employer will be happy.”

With that the man suddenly turned to nod towards the two men behind him and said, “What are you standing there for? Get over here and tie this gentleman up lest I accidentally stab him to death when he struggles to dodge my dagger.”

Yan Chuyang suddenly took two big steps back, but behind him was a wall.

The two brawny men closed in on him aggressively. Yan Chuyang’s heart was hammering.

He thought, “Oh, Wei Qing, please don’t disappoint me in these circumstances. Come and help me!”

“Sorry, dude.” The two men walked over to Yan Chuyang and were just about to restrain him when Yan Chuyang kicked the man on the left in the groin without warning.

The man let out a pained cry and fell to the ground.

The other man obviously didn’t know what was going on. He looked in a daze at the one lying on the ground. Yan Chuyang swung a punch at the man’s nose with all his might.

The nose is the most fragile part of the face. The man felt an excruciating pain after the heavy punch landed on his nose.

Unsurprisingly, after taking a punch, the man groaned in agony, held his nose, toppled backwards and fell to the ground.

Two of the three men were downed.

Yan Chuyang had not planned any of that. He had never scrapped before. He didn’t stand a cat in hell’s chance of defeating either of the two men in a fight. He had succeeded in the surprise attack solely because of his harmless-looking face.

He was thin and the two men could tell at a glance that he was a milksop. They had thought that he was no threat at all. It had never crossed their mind that even a milksop could summon up great energy when in danger.

Yan Chuyang lifted his fists and shifted into a defensive position. Subduing his overwhelming nervousness, his heart pounding madly, he said in a frigid voice, “Leave me alone if you know what’s good for you. Let me tell you something. I’m a karate master and a black belt in Taekwondo. You people are no match for me!”

The man holding a dagger sneered, “Stop bluffing. You do know how to launch a sneak attack, but if you want to defeat me in a fight, you’ll have to practice for a few years first.”

Having finished speaking, the man narrowed his eyes, abruptly picked up a cudgel from the ground and swung it straight at Yan Chuyang who then hurriedly dodged aside.

The cudgel brushed past him.

Before Yan Chuyang could think about his next move, the man swung the cudgel at him again. Yan Chuyang tilted his head to one side and took two steps sideways, but he still failed to dodge the blow in time. The blow landed on his shoulder.

Yan Chuyang stopped dodging and started to fight back.

Although he had never scrapped before, he had learned some fighting skills during summer vacation when he had spare time. His skills couldn’t hold a candle to those of professionals, but they were helpful during a fight.

Having noticed that the cudgel was swung at him again, Yan Chuyang quickly gripped it and, with a smart exertion of strength, wrenched the cudgel free from the man’s hand.

The cudgel dropped to the ground.

Yan Chuyang quickly picked it up, unhesitatingly wielded it and delivered a heavy blow to the man’s shoulder.

“Hmm!” The man let out a muffled groan of pain and with that his eyes became murderous.

Yan Chuyang swung the cudgel at his opponent again, but before he could land his blow, the cudgel was snatched away from him.

The man’s strength was greater than Yan Chuyang’s, and Yan Chuyang staggered a few paces forward due to the sharp pull.

The man threw the cudgel to the ground with a thud, drew his dagger from his belt again and swung it at Yan Chuyang.

Yan Chuyang gasped and dodged aside, but he was not quick enough and the blade bit into his shoulder.
