208. The Prologue in the Rain

Fang Jingshu had seen it in the newspapers and asked her husband to inquire about it in the company. This man called Wei Qing was a real piece of work. His business and influence were unimaginable to a small family like them.

If he really wanted to do something to her family, it would be simpler than killing an ant.

The woman’s eyes flashed and tears poured down. Her voice trembled, “Mr. Wei, I know Yan Chuyang and you are close. But did I do anything wrong? I know I am not perfect as a mother. And I just want to make it up to him. Why are you pushing me so hard?”

Wei Qing was speechless and he shook his head.

This woman was not a woman to be trifled with. No wonder Yan Chuyang was gradually gypped by her. She was a real class actress.

She even pretended to call Yan Chuyang affectionately.

Watching her crying, Yan Chuyang was shocked and looked at Wei Qing anxiously, “Stop it! How about you leave now? This is my own business and I will handle it.”

The man raised his eyebrow and asked, “You want me to leave now?”

“Yeah!”

“It’s pouring so heavily. What would you do if I leave?”

Yan Chuyang raised the umbrella in his hand. “She gave it to me. I’ll hold it when I get home later.”

“Well,” Wei Qing sneered in disbelief. “You mean you want to use her umbrella and not mine?”

The boy was silent and then nodded slightly. “If you still speak, you can leave first.”

There was something a little severe about Wei Qing’s face. After a while, he snorted and turned his face away.

He meant he would keep silent.

Seeing him calm down, Yan Chuyang sighed and looked at Fang Jingshu, “I got your umbrella and you can go back quickly and change your clothes.”

Fang Jingshu could feel that the balance in Yan Chuyang’s heart was tilted towards her, so she wiped her tears with her hands and said with a smile, “Okay, okay, I’ll go back now. Chuyang, you should go home early. It’s chilly. I hope you are not coming down with a cold.

Yan Chuyang mumbled, “I got it.”

Fang Jingshu nodded, gripping the umbrella in her hand, and then turned back and left.

After taking two steps, the boy behind her suddenly shouted, “Don’t mind what Wei Qing said. He didn’t mean it in a bad way.”

Fang Jingshu’s shoulders trembling, she nodded excitedly. “I know, I know!”

Yan Chuyang was left staring after her. And it was not a pleasant feeling to see her trudging.

Fang Jingshu was old.

The strong woman that neighbors were afraid of offending had now become a woman who could whine and cry.

She became gentle and she stooped slightly.  And she looked old and tired even though she didn’t have grey hair.

How could he blame her?

Time had already given her punishment.

It was drizzling outside.

Raising his head, Yan Chuyang saw that the whole black umbrella tilted to his side. And he could keep dry, but Wei Qing got wet on his left shoulder.

The boy’s nose twitched. And he quickly raised his arm and pulled the man closer to him. Tilting the umbrella to Wei Qing, Yan Chuyang said lightly, “Your suit is wet…”

Wei Qing stood still and let himself be pulled by the boy.

He was still angry at Yan Chuyang.

He didn’t expect that Yan Chuyang would choose Fang Jingshu without hesitation under such circumstances.

He could see Yan Chuyang’s attitude even though it was just an umbrella.

Obviously, in Yan Chuyang’s heart, Fang Jingshu’s position was higher than him.

Wei Qing couldn’t accept it.

That woman had done so many wrong things. So what if she gave birth to Yan Chuyang? How could her love compare to his for Yan Chuyang?

Wei Qing stood there with a cold face.

“What’s wrong with you?” Yan Chuyang looked at the man’s gloomy face and asked, “Are you upset?”

Wei Qing sneered, “Why am I upset? And, you just said I didn’t have to share the umbrella with you? So why are you standing under my umbrella?”

The boy frowned. Now he knew why Wei Qing looked sullen. He was angry with Yan Chuyang about the umbrella.

Yan Chuyang was speechless.

“Well,” Yan Chuyang took the bag down and put the umbrella in his hand into the bag. “I won’t use her umbrella. I just said that because seeing her standing in front of me, I was too embarrassed to refuse her.”

Wei Qing pulled the boy’s bag over, took out the blue and white striped umbrella, then he threw it into the trash bin beside him.

Yan Chuyang’s eyes widened, “Wei Qing!”

The man shrugged. “Its color is not suitable for you. I don’t want you to take it.”

Yan Chuyang sighed. Looking at the umbrella in the trash, “Well, I’ll just throw it, ok?”

Wei Qing snorted and loosened his frown.

“Give me your bag,” Yan Chuyang stretched out his hand.

Wei Qing lowered his head and casually glanced at it. His heart did a complete somersault when he suddenly saw that there were two lunchboxes in it. Then Wei Qing reached out to take out the metal thermal lunchbox he had brought over at noon.

Seeing him take out the lunchbox, Yan Chuyang’s pupils contracted. He quickly took it and hid it behind him, “What are you doing?”

The man said with an icy gaze. “Give it to me.”

Yan Chuyang nodded, “It’s getting late. Let’s go home.”

“Give it to me,” his tone was serious.

The boy was shocked. Lowering his head, he handed Wei Qing the lunchbox.

Wei Qing took the lunch box and opened the cover.

It was full of dumplings. And some of them were sticking together after being kept in the lunch box for the whole afternoon.

The man shut the cover with a snap and threw the bag to Yan Chuyang.

The boy held his bag and quietly lowered his head.

An interrogation officially started.
