209. My Love Has Paid Off

Translator: Ahve

“You didn’t eat the dumplings at noon?”

Yan Chuyang nodded gently.

“Then why did you tell me you did just now? Why did you lie about that?”

“Because you made them for me. I don’t want to disappoint you.”

The man grinned, “It’s not easy for you to know that I’ll be disappointed as well sometimes.”

The boy lowered his head and didn’t speak.

“What did you have for lunch?”

Yan Chuyang’s shoulders tautened as he nervously pinched his pants.

Wei Qing lowered his voice, “Just tell me the truth.”

“Fang Jingshu brought me some food.”

“Huh,” Wei Qing snorted, his eyes filled with coldness, “So, that’s why you didn’t eat what I cooked for you. Did you just throw it away?”

“No!” Yan Chuyang suddenly raised his head and explained, “I still have to draw tonight, so I save it for supper in case I’ll get hungry.”

“Who are you kidding?” Wei Qing yelled, “There’s a lot of delicious food in the fridge at home. When you’re home tonight, will you still choose the cold dumplings?”

The boy kept his head down again.

It was true that he was planning to save the dumplings for supper, but a plan was just a plan. If he was really home, Wei Qing would cook dinner for him and there were so many snacks. He probably would forget about the dumplings, which would later be secretly thrown into the trash can…

Seeing him speechless, Wei Qing looked sullen. After a long silence, he gritted his teeth, “Forget it. No matter what I do, it can’t compare with that woman’s hypocritical flattery.”

“No, it’s not like that.” Yan Chuyang looked up helplessly. “In my heart, you are the most important forever.”

“Huh,” Wei Qing sneered, stuffed the umbrella into the boy’s hand and strode forward. He didn’t want to listen to his nonsense anymore.

Yan Chuyang quickly caught up and held the umbrella to shelter the man from rain.

Wei Qing walked so fast and Yan Chuyang stumbled behind him. Their car stopped outside the gate.

The man opened the car door and sat in the driver’s seat. The boy closed the umbrella and sat in the passenger seat.

It was very quiet. Wei Qing didn’t start up the car and they just sat there.

After a moment of silence, Yan Chuyang broke the ice, “How about I drive today? You’re in a bad mood.”

“Why am I in a bad mood?” Wei Qing turned his head and stared at the boy.

Yan Chuyang sighed, “I didn’t eat the dumplings you specially made for me.”

“That’s not the point.”

“Then… the umbrella?”

“No.”

Yan Chuyang frowned and looked at him, “Then what is the point?”

Wei Qing gave a wry smile, “Don’t you really understand?”

The boy blinked, suddenly leaned over and gave the man a light kiss on his lips. He whispered innocently, “Is this the point?”

His face was fair, his smell sweet, his eyes pure and his voice enchanting. For the man, no one in this world could ever be lovelier than him.

Wei Qing’s heart skipped a beat.

He took a deep breath, leaned back and gazed into space. “Do you think I won’t be angry after you give me a kiss?”

“What should I do then?” Yan Chuyang put his hand on the man’s lap and asked innocently.

Wei Qing felt his heart was beating faster, growling, “Take your hand away.”

“Then don’t be angry.”

“I’m deeply hurt by what you did today!”

“Then, how do you want me to make it up for you?” The boy moved over with his arm around the man’s waist, his amorous eyes fixed on him.

Love was in the air.

Yan Chuyang had waited in the rain for a long time back then, and he smelt like fresh-mown grass wet with early morning dew.

Wei Qing felt hot, and he wondered if the boy tasted like cool ice cream.

But reason told him that he couldn’t rush it.

It was still not the time.

Yan Chuyang was as timid as a kitty that would stretch out its paws to scratch the man sometimes. Wei Qing couldn’t fight back because he knew the boy would be so afraid that he could hardly open his heart again.

Therefore, he had to be patient.

“Stop it,” Wei Qing suppressed his desire and removed the boy’s hand from his waist.

“Are you still angry?”

The man sighed, “No. You know I could never be truly mad at you.”

Yan Chuyang breathed a sigh of relief and sat back on the seat.

Wei Qing shook his head and threw him a towel. “Dry yourself first, or you’ll get cold.”

Yan Chuyang grabbed it, wiped his face casually and turned to dry the man’s clothes carefully.

Wei Qing looked down at the boy’s pretty face, muttering softly, “My love has finally paid off.”

A few days later, Yan Chuyang received an unexpected call.

It was from Fang Jingshu’s husband. It never occurred to the boy that the man would contact him.

“Hello?”

“Is it Chuyang?” A middle-aged man asked in a deep voice over the phone.

“This is Yan Chuyang. Who is calling, please?”

“Ah, Chuyang, I thought I had the wrong number.”

“Uh… May I ask… ”

“I’m Li Xinqiang,” the man interrupted him, “Your mother’s husband.”

His mother’s husband? It just sounded so awkward!

Yan Chuyang tried to remain calm, “May I ask why you’re calling me?”

“Well, Chuang.” Li Xinqiang raised his voice, “I want to ask if you have time tomorrow. It’s Saturday. Maybe you can come back home.”

Yan Chuyang hurriedly said, “Maybe not. Tomorrow… I have to go to cram school tomorrow!”

Li Xinqiang frowned. “On Saturday? And you’re a college student now.”
