Traveling The Omniverse With Overhaul's Quirk

Chapter 9 - 7.5: A History lesson

An: Okay so this chapter is gonna be a little different. Instead of the main story this chapter will show a glimpse of this Earth's history so that I don't have to stress to find a place to fit it.

Treat these types of chapters as world building, So they are important. However you can skip them though you might be a bit confused as the story progresses.

Also these kinda chapters won't be too often.

Oh and if you guys don't like this type of chapter say so.  I'll figure it out if everyone says these chapters suck.

Hope you enjoy this chapter, and don't forget to comment and leave a review. It keeps me motivated!

PS. All the information below is known to the main character after he absorbed the knowledge of the previous owner of his body.

…..

Who is the Giver?

A villain?

One could make that ȧssumption if you simply look at the atrocities that could/should have been prevented if not for his services in the form of what he calls "gifts". Or if one looked at his role in ending the Golden age of heroes and starting the age of Villains.

A hero?

Also a possible outlook, but definitely the least popular. After all, despite the people's misgivings, none could dispute the great deal of good done by the good people "blessed" by the Giver's "gifts". Curing the common cold,  snuffing out the existence of multiple forms of cancer, and bringing 3rd world countries completely into the modern age are just some of the benefits of his "gifts".

However does this good offset the bad done by his services? The millions that laid dead because of the increased fire power of the scum of the world? The countless children forced to watch as their parents were murdered in front of them?

Some would say yes. That despite the sacrifices it was worth it. The death toll in the first few years of his appearance numbered in the millions. However hundreds of millions, possibly billions, would be saved in the next one hundred years due to his gifts.

Others say no. That thousands let alone millions was far too high a price to pay. That instead of simply allowing anyone to buy one of his "gifts" the Giver should have only given his gifts to a select few. That bloodshed was not needed for this advancement in society.

The giver wasn't a hero nor was he a villain. He was simply a businessman. A business man who saw opportunity in the final days of the age of heroes.

….

While not much is known about the giver what is known is the origin of his gifts.

As noted in Zatara's book, " The Giver, his gifts, and the many out there", the gifts are manifestations of a person's main characteristics given form through the powering of one's own eternal soul.

The way in which these characteristics form are vastly different to each individual.

However, thanks to the Giver's personal input regarding this a multitude of sub categories have been created in order for both police and heroes to better handle those with gifts.

The first category, and the most common, are simply known as gears.

These gears are characteristics given physical form with likeness to various items such as but not limited to, gloves, canes, mirrors, gauntlets, and swords.

Gears like all the categories of gifts have fairly powerful abilities attached to them. However gears have the most weaknesses and limitations of the variations of gifts.

However the gear's weaknesses are also their greatest strength. For if a user kept growing stronger mentally and physically technically a gear's power wouldn't end.

The second category of gifts  named stands are fairly uncommon compared to gears.

Stands are similar to gears in that they too take a physical form, however instead of an item they take either a humanoid or monstrous appearance. Not only that but Stands all at least acquire human levels of intelligence within a year of their formation, sometimes they breach genius levels depending on the user.

Most stand abilities are strange in both theory and application, not to mention no stand is similar to another. However a majority of stands do possess an abnormal amount of physical abilities. The weakest of stands being able to lift cars easily.

The only true weakness of a stand user is the fact that damage done to the stand applies to the user and vice versa.

The last and most powerful gifts are called aspects. They as the name states allows for the user to have domain over an aspect of reality.

Unlike stands or gears, aspects are given direct control over a portion of reality with little limitations other than the user's imagination and how much their soul can maintain.

Beyond these subcategories are what the Giver calls glitches. Gifts that combine two or even three types into one. The majority of these glitches however are weak due to the combined limitations of the gifts.

Only one person to date has worked past the combined limitations of a glitch.

.....

An: Hope you guys enjoyed this history chapter! Well honestly it was more of an info dump than a history chapter, but I digress!

This chapter should add context for the future chapters.

Oh and do you guys have any suggestions for gifts certain villains should have?

The  villains and heroes I don't have a gift picked out for yet are:

Fish Mooney

Scarecrow

Red hood

Robin

Bane

Don Falcone

Clay face

Damien Wayne

Oh and one last thing if you guys have any heroes or villains that you'd like to see don't be shy and tell me! I might just incorporate them! This also applies to Heroes or villains you personally create!
