Perhaps it was because Ruan Tian had been sick and running a fever back then, but until now she had really forgotten the events of that day. She could still vaguely remember the judgemental eyes of the adults, but she had completely forgotten about her meeting with the young man in the wheelchair.

Ruan Tian had always used to think that after her mother brought her back to the Zhou family, the first other person she had met was Shen Shu.

Shen Shu had just had too big of an impact on her. Before him, there had never been such a pure, handsome, sunshine boy in her world.

She could still remember how he looked back then, standing there in his school uniform under the setting sun, the tips of his hair dyed golden by the last rays of daylight, impossibly handsome and exquisite.

But somehow she had completely forgotten that, before any of that, at the moment that bedroom door opened, she had already barged into Qin Yu’s world.

Back in the present, Qin Yu saw her dazed expression and touched her forehead to check her temperature, muttering: “Did you burn your brain?”

Ruan Tian had been feverish for so long and only just woke up, so her limbs felt leaden and weak. Still, she managed to reach out, take the medicine from Qin Yu, and stuff it into her mouth. After swallowing the medicine, she frowned at the bitter taste.

“Here, have a sip of water.” Qin Yu said gently.

Maybe it was because she was still sick, but Ruan Tian was acting the most docilely that Qin Yu had ever seen in his life. She obediently did what she was told to do, both taking the medicine and drinking the water, without showing any signs of displeasure or arguing.

After she took the medicine, Ruan Tian immediately felt very sleepy once again. Her head felt heavy, and she could barely lift it at all.

“I feel so sleepy…”

“Go back to sleep.”

Ruan Tian slowly nodded and was about to lie back down, but she suddenly noticed the quilt on her body. It was the wrong quilt! Her eyes widened and she looked all around, then said, “This is not my room.”

Qin Yu replied offhandedly, “En, this is my house.”

Inside, he smirked. She still ended up sleeping on his bed in the end.

However, Ruan Tian didn’t have the strength to think too much about this kind of issue at the moment. In the end, she just frowned and said, “I don’t like the color of this quilt.”

It was pitch black! It wasn’t like the kind of quilt a girl would use at all!

Qin Yu set the water cup back down and raised an eyebrow. Finally, he said, “Alright, I’ll change it for a pink one another day.”

Ruan Tian nodded slowly. She was still feeling very muddled from her illness, so she didn’t realize there was anything wrong with this solution.

Half dreaming and half awake, she murmured, “In fact, beige or white would be fine too…” Then she drifted off to sleep.

As soon as Qin Yu went back downstairs, his mother looked at him worriedly and asked, “Did she wake up?”

“She woke up briefly but fell asleep again.”

“Well, just let her sleep a little longer. The nanny made some dumplings for her and put them in the fridge. If she wakes up hungry in the middle of the night, you can just warm the dumplings up for her, okay?” Mother Qin gave orders in a low voice.

Qin Yu hummed a vague acknowledgment, then said, “I’ll go ahead and cook a bowl of porridge for her now, she probably won’t sleep for much longer.”

Mother Qin was stunned. When had her eldest son developed such a considerate side? But she quickly sighed with relief and said, “Alright, you take good care of her then. I’m going back to my room to get some sleep myself.”

“En, goodnight.”

Ruan Tian’s illness lasted for several more days before she finally got better. Although she was always in a dazed, half-dreaming state during this time, she was vaguely aware that there was someone by her side helping and taking care of her.

By the time the fever subsided completely, it was already four days later.

That day, Ruan Tian woke up sweaty all over, but with a mind that was very much clear. It was early in the morning, and she suddenly saw Qin Yu come out of the bathroom. He was naked except for a pair of boxer shorts and his sleek black hair was still damp and dripping, obviously, he had just come out of the shower. When he saw Ruan Tian sitting up and looking around, he was briefly startled, but he quickly returned to normal and said, “You’re awake?”

Ruan Tian nodded. “I’m better now.”

Qin Yu casually walked over and stood next to the bed, and Ruan Tian felt as if she was enveloped in the unique fresh fragrance of his shower gel.

“I’ll have Dr. Zhao come and examine you later.”

Ruan Tian blinked and nodded. Her throat felt scratchy and she was thirsty. But even after drinking a glass of water, the feeling didn’t go away.

Thus, she looked up and said, “I want to eat ice cream.”

Qin Yu raised his eyebrows, “You’re still a patient, do you want to die?”

“…it was a passing thought.”

“Then take your time thinking it over and use your imagination to imagine it as much as you like.”

“…”
