The Love of a Lycan

Chapter 677: Meeting jedrek

Lilac bit her lips, a sign of peaking nervous. She realized now that she couldn't go back, and back down. However, right before Eaton opened the door, an earth-shattering sound could be heard. And it came from the other side of the door. Surprised by it, Eaton's eyes widened as he watched the doorknob rattled in his hold.

"What happened!?" Lilac shouted above the frenzy sound. She couldn't see it in the dark, but she could tell immediately that there was something wrong. The guardian angel knew right away that something wasn't right by the way Eaton's body suddenly became tense.

And then they heard something that rather sounded like a whipping. The sharp whipping sound cutting through the air. The sharp, and distinct cracks echoed throughout the dark tunnel. Worse, the sound became louder, and more intense, sending chills to whoever were there witnessing such a sound.

"MOVE!" Eaton shouted at Airin. But of course, she wouldn't be able to hear anything at all. With no choice, Eaton had to push her away. Although it was meant for the good, it was too hard for Airin's body to handle. The poor girl's figure flew a few meters away to her right side, and her body bumped onto the stone wall.

Everything happened so fast that they didn't have the time to calculate responses. After shoving Airin to the other side, Eaton hugged Lilac. He turned both Lilac, and Airin, so that the sudden blast from the door would hit Eaton's back instead of crushing the girls.

As expected, the explosion indeed hit Eaton's back. But the blast hurled the three creatures to the other side of the stone wall. If it wasn't because of Lilac who made a quick decision, to cover them with her power, their body would have been crushed because of the strong force of the explosion.

"What was that!?" Lilac watched in horror the moment she witnessed the horrifying scene. The door had bursted into flames. The fire was burning the air, that she could feel the heat caressing her skin. The blaze illuminated the dark tunnel, making her see the dirt, and dust around her dancing in the air. It was as if everything was caught on fire.

It took a long while before the fire subsided. And when the moment it had gone out completely, the tunnel once again drowned into the darkness that it was.

"Eaton?" Lilac snapped back to reality, shifting her attention to Eaton who was still hugging her for her safety. "Are you okay?"

Eaton groaned as he tried to move. But the lycan seemed to be in pain after what just happened to him. Thus, it was harder for him to move even an inch. He crawled away from Lilac, and once he did, he fell on his stomach. He tried to endure the pain while waiting for the recovery to complete.

The door that was once there, had burned into ashes, making the light from inside the room escape to the tunnel where they were. The light revealed many things that she couldn't see in the dark. She now could see the horrible scald, and blister behind Eaton's back that were caused by the explosion before. She frowned upon the unpleasant scene that she saw on his back.

"Eaton! Your back!" Lilac gasped in shock.

Eaton's face contorted in pain. The lycan groaned again when he answered her. "Don't worry. I just need a few moments to recover." He was right. Lilac could see the burn was slowly healing. It took some time before the lycan could fully recover. However, Lilac didn't have the patience to wait any longer with the uproar that was coming from inside the room.

"I will check on Airin," Lilac said, she was worried about the girl too. She didn't know whether Airin got caught in the flames, or did she manage to escape.

"Wait for me, and do not enter the room without me," Eaton grumbled, hating the fact that his injuries took quite a long time to heal. And on top of that his injuries somehow slowed him down.

Meanwhile, Lilac didn't seem wanting to listen to anyone, including the lycan. She didn't say anything at all as she dashed towards the other end of the tunnel. At the moment, she just couldn't promise to wait for him. Her patience was running out. She desperately wanted to know what the cause of the flame, and the explosion was from earlier. But first, she made sure Airin was alright.

"Airin?" She called for the girl, but there was no answer. She called her again. "Airin?"

Lilac walked further to the seemingly ruins of the stone wall. With her bare hands, she started to pick up the stones. She assumed that Airin was buried beneath the ruins. And her guess was right, after moving three stones, she could see the girl.

The poor girl was unconscious, but alive. And then, Lilac summoned the roots under her feet to get Airin out of there quickly, concerned that the girl could die if she let her stay there longer. After rescuing the girl, she laid her on the vacant space near the ruins. Airin was fine, it was only a matter of time before she gained her consciousness back.

Suddenly, another uproar broke once again from inside the room. But this time, she could hear a familiar snarls, and growls. It was him for sure. In spite of the fact that Lilac had only fought with him once, but she was sure that the animal sound belonged to the Alpha king. Is Jedrek fighting with something inside the room or what? If he is, what is it that he was fighting with?—she thought.

It must be a creature. A much monstrous one than himself. Something that could breathe fire.

Impossible…

Lilac scrambled to her feet, while ignoring the warning that Eaton was giving her. Out of instinct, she ran towards the secret chamber, and halted for a moment to assess the situation before she poked her head with caution. If the fire could turn the door from earlier into dust, she didn't want her head to be the next target of this monstrous creature.

And inside, there she saw a gigantic yellow salamander with a slender body, and blunt snout. The yellow salamander was as big as the white lycan that was above it, pinning it down. Its slender body was covered with black stains of liquid. Lilac assumed that they were its blood. She could see its blunt snout was torn, leaving it impossible to breathe another fire.

Lilac was right in time to witness how vicious the white lycan was, when he clawed the salamander's stomach with his sharp talons, digging deep until the ugly creature breathed his last breath.

Lilac slid down to the floor upon witnessing such a bloody scene. She didn't even realize that she was trembling. The black thick liquid spurted from the salamander's stomach, staining the white fur of the standing lycan. Now the only remaining monster looked even more feral than he ever was with his white fur stained black all over.

Lilac couldn't take her eyes off of him, until the white lycan itself found her there, noticing her presence. With his red-bloody eyes, he glared at the girl. The white lycan snarled to get her attention, but when his mate was frozen still on the ground, seemingly couldn't take her attention out of the dead salamander, the white lycan approached her with a deep growl.

The sound that he made was enough to make one shake. He shifted back to his human skin once he was close enough to her. He now looked beyond fuming mad. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, HERE!?" He roared in anger. His wrath efficiently brought her back to her senses. The guardian angel instantly snapped back to reality, shifting her attention to the man before her.

Lilac didn't appreciate Jedrek's tone, and she raged back at him, "TO GET YOU OUT OF HERE, OF COURSE!"
