The Love of a Lycan

Chapter 214: Bring him to the safety

Raine instinctively squatted down when the white Lycan leapt above her head and bolted out of the room. A few seconds later, the room was filled with Lycans in various colors, some of them went out of the hall, some made an ear-piercing howl, while others stayed close to their Luna.

"You, come with me." Diana ordered, signaling for Raine to follow her.

Raine scrambled to stand up and followed the Luna and though she was still in her human form, she walked very fast and moved swiftly with the other ten Lycan warriors.

"Where is the baby? Is the baby all right?" Raine asked anxiously. She was almost out of breath, trying to catch up with Diana.

The son that Janus' Beta mentioned was Jedrek. They couldn't find the seven year old boy while the baby Torak was still with his caregiver.

"Did you hear what their plan is? Or which son they are targeting?" Diana asked, wanting to know more details about what Raine had heard.

She grew restless as seconds passed by. Being away from her sons and mate and the fact that Raine's words were coming true didn't help at all. By this time, Diana noticed that their surrounding was too quiet even though a battle was happening somewhere inside the castle. Diana could feel the tension through the mind link.

"No. I didn't hear anything except that." Raine shook her head in regret. "They left afterward."

"Hmm." Diana nodded and moved even faster, her movement still graceful as the queen of the Lycanthropes.

Just as they were about to turn around a corner of the corridor, they saw a lady in a white dress who was carrying a baby in swaddle.

Only then did both Raine and Diana breathe in relief.

"Is everything okay here?" Diana asked as she approached them.

However,as Diana was settling the baby into her arms, she saw something sparkle under the sunlight. Diana's eyes immediately turned dark as she let out a beast snarl and moved to the side very fast.

But because her concern and focus was on her baby, she did not move fast enough and failed to protect herself fully.

When the caregiver pulled out a dagger, the sharp blade grazed her left arm which she had extended to protect the baby.

Everything went so fast as the ten Lycan warriors, who had been following them from the main hall, turned into their beast form and pounced on the lady.

Raine looked away and shut her eyes tightly, knowing what would happen next. She couldn't bear to take a look at the horrendous scene that was happening. However, she could well imagine the brutality of what was happening at the sounds of the shrill scream of the caregiver and the deep ferocious growls from the Lycan warriors.

Only when the terrifying sounds had died down did Raine dare to open her eyes and look at Diana who was standing not far from her with baby Torak safe in her arms.

"Luna, are you all right? Is Torak all right?" A man in blue clothes and with curly hair approached Diana, his worry was evident in his amber eyes.

"Torak and I are fine. Thank you, Eaton." Said Diana in her soft but firm voice.

Yet the man named Eaton stared at the blood in Diana's left arm and the wound that had not yet healed. "But Luna… your arm."

"That was a silver dagger." Said one of the Lycans who had turned back into his human form. He was staring at the dagger that was covered with the caretaker's blood.

"We have to tend your wound." Eaton stated apprehensively. For Lycans, wolf bane wouldn't affect them, but silver could still damage them. "Let's move to the sanctuary."

"Raine, let's go." Diana glanced at Raine who had turned as white as paper. She was standing behind Diana, unmoving and looking flabbergasted.

"Oh, yes… yes." Raine stuttered, trying hard not to look at the direction where the beasts had ended the caregiver's life. However, she still caught a glimpse of the pool of blood on the marble floor.

"Look ahead." Diana said to her, knowing this scene wasn't something that she could handle.

Raine staggered forward and picked up her pace, following the Luna and her guards.

The silence was very uncomfortable for them. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't hear what was happening outside the walls.

Raine's normal human hearing couldn't help them either.

"You are a witch, can't you lift the spell?" Eaton glanced at Raine who was still wearing her purple cloak.

Raine shook her head. "I can't. I don't have enough power to do that, but my sister can." She explained.

Eaton scoffed at her and continued to walk, looking slightly irritated at the situation. "Why would the witches join hands with the wizard hunters? How is it possible!?" Eaton groaned in frustration.

But as soon as Eaton finished speaking, the wall beside him suddenly exploded, sending debris in all directions.

Eaton moved fast and covered his Luna while another Lycan moved to Raine's side and protected her, bearing the brunt from the explosion.

However, the blast was so strong that all of them went hurtling to the floor.

Raine could feel that debris and sharp fragments had grazed her cheeks and cut her hands. When she had stopped rolling on the floor and when the dust had finally settled, she opened her eyes and gasped in horror.

Fabian was floating in the air in front of them. Most likely, he was the one who had attacked them earlier.

But why? And where was Serefina?

Fabian put his hands together in front of him and with a shock wave of energy, he sent all of the Lycan warriors into convulsions.

The spasms rendered the ten Lycans immobile. It was now becoming hard for them to breath.

Raine hurriedly stood up and was about to approach Fabian when someone held her back.

It was Diana.

The Luna's condition wasn't any better than Raine and the baby in her embrace started to cry. "Bring him to safety." As she said that, she gave the baby to Raine and then she turned into her Lycan form to face the witch head on.
