The Love of a Lycan

Chapter 204: That man again

"She was not from the village of angels." Serefina blurted out the truth. Though witches could be so harsh with their words, they did not like to tell lies. That was against their nature.

"Not from the village of angels?" Fabian's confused expression showed under the glowing little gems' light. "So where did she come from?"

Fabian looked at Raine who was now staring at the pixie stones that fascinated her.

"She comes from a place far from here." Serefina's answer was deliberately ambiguous.

"And how about you?" Fabian turned his eyes on Serefina. He was just as curious about the origins of the young woman beside him. How could he not know her? Before last night, he had not even known she existed.

"So did I." Serefina replied curtly.

Fabian was about to ask again when they heard a loud and sharp gasping sound from Raine in front of them. They saw that the girl had crouched down the road while two big black wolves prowled around her.

Serefina and Fabian rushed towards Raine as two more were approaching them in their human form.

"What's going on?" Fabian stared at the two lycans in their human form that were as tall as he was while Serefina helped Raine stand up.

"We find her suspicious." The lycan with blonde and curly hair replied. "What is she?" He nodded at Raine's direction.

This was the very situation that they did not want to happen.

"She is a fae." Serefina blurted out a lie. It was a necessary lie to diffuse the situation.

"And you are…" The lycan sniffed the air before he stated certainly. "… A witch."

"They are with me." Fabian stepped in and stood between the lycan and Serefina while Raine was standing slightly behind her.

The lycan scrutinized Fabian before he was able to recognize him. "Fabian the pure blood witch…" He smiled ever so slightly. They were unsure whether his acknowledgement of Fabian was in good terms or not.

"She is bleeding." The other lycan in his human form sniffed at Raine and furrowed his brows. "Is she hurt?"

Raine bit her lips. She felt embarrassed when he mentioned the word 'bleeding'. She was indeed on her period.

Serefina looked at Raine with a fleeting look of surprise, but it disappeared quickly as she replied. "She hurt her hips on our way here." She said smoothly. "But it's fine now."

As the lycans and wolves tended to have remarkably strong senses, they could smell the blood from Raine even as Serefina and Fabian were not able to do so.

Fortunately the cloak that Raine was wearing managed to cover Raine's original scent, so the lycans could only smell ordinary blood.

"Dress her wound tightly. We don't want a strong smell of blood filling the air and turning creatures crazy during the celebration." The lycan with blonde hair warned them before he signaled the others to give way for Raine, Serefina and Fabian to pass thru.

"I will try to cover the smell." Serefina said as she nodded her head politely.

"When did she get that injury?" Fabian asked when they were already quite some distance from the lycans. He did not remember Raine getting hurt.

"No, she is fine. It is only her period." Serefina explained briefly.

"Period?Angels don't have period. It is only humans that bleed every month." Then the realization hit Fabian. "Is she human?"

Raine was now blushing profusely upon hearing Serefina's words. They were talking about her period like she was not there and it was a normal topic to discuss.

"Yes, she is human." Serefina glanced at Raine who was walking close to her now, her cheeks red with embarrassment.

"But I'm definitely certain that she is an angel." Fabian grabbed Raine's wrist and pulled her so she stood in front of him. He then scrutinized her body thoughtfully. Raine squirmed uncomfortably under Fabian's eyes. She felt it was not appropriate to be stared at that way. "No, I am not mistaken. She is an angel."

"She is an angel and she is also human." Serefina concluded and grabbed Raine's shoulder as she dragged her away from Fabian's gaze.

"How could that happen?" Fabian's eyes still searched for Raine's figure behind Serefina. "An angel does not have period like humans."

"She is an angel and she has period." Said Serefina, a little bit annoyed now because they were talking about such a worthless topic.

On the other hand, Raine was beyond annoyed because they were talking about her condition with that kind of attitude and as if she wasn't there. She really wanted to put a stop to this conversation.

"What do you mean by she is an angel and human? That's never happened before." Fabian still could not let go of the topic as he became more curious about Raine's identity.

"That's what I wanted to find out." Serefina put an end to Fabian's curiosity. "That is why I need the grimoire to know more about this."

"Do you mean to say that she also has the ability to control time?" Fabian stared at Serefina as they walked along the bustling street where the festivities had already started.

"We will not be here if she couldn't." Serefina answered as she flashed her eyes. "Time is a mystery. Don't ask too much. You will know gradually when the time is right." She dismissed the topic.

Though it was still confusing for Fabian, he could not pursue the matter at the moment.

The celebration was now underway around the castle and the surrounding village. White banners and other decors adorned the place beautifully and it made the village appear as if it was covered in snow.

White.

Raine remembered that the color of Torak's beast was white. She thought that, perhaps, white was his family's color, just like the purple color would be for nobles.

Then among the crowd Raine saw that man again. He was the man who was staring at her at the bar.
