The Love of a Lycan

Chapter 192: Fluffy

Honestly, I always feel jealous whenever you give someone the kind of attention that I want from you.

After dinner, Torak spent the next hour inside his study room with Raphael since there were a few things that they needed to handle prior to tomorrow's meeting. Raine and Calleb went to the greenhouse to play with the rabbit.

"Turn back to your human form! You are scaring the bunny!" Raine slapped Calleb's front leg, who was in his big grey wolf form, while her other hand was holding the trembling bunny.

Calleb laughed out loud when he saw the scared bunny in Raine's embrace. "It's so funny! This is what we like."

"What? You liked to be feared?" Raine asked incredulously.

Calleb only shrugged his shoulder nonchalantly. "That is our nature. Most of the shifters' nature is like that. The more afraid of us our prey gets, the more excited we become." Then he added. "That was why Stephan, the dragon shifter, chased after you…"

"Because I was trying to run from him?" Raine asked. "Butof course I was scared of him at that time. That's why I ran…" She tried to defend herself though she sounded pitiful.

"Yes, because of that fear. Our kind likes to be the dominant one among other creatures. That's also the reason why Lycans don't like guardian angels since the beginning. It is rumored they were physically one of the weakest among all creatures." Calleb then emphasized. "Physically."

Raine frowned when she heard that. She shot Calleb a dagger look that was so adorable it made Calleb laughinstead.

"No offense." Calleb raised his hand upon seeing Raine's anger. "I don't think that way. Anyway, the guardian angels had ceased to exist by the time I was born, so I don't really know what kind of creatures they were."

Raine was still upset. She knew she was weak, but Calleb did not need to make it so clear. After all, Serefina had been reminding her about that many times.

"The only guardian angel that I have ever met is you, and you are not a weakling in my eyes." Calleb sat down on the bench beside Raine. "You managed to overcome your fear and started to talk again. I think Torak is very proud of you."

Raine could not help but smile. She lowered her head timidly while Calleb sighed in relief because he succeeded in appeasing Raine's displeasure. Torak would get mad if Raine was upset while she was with him.

Calleb thought his mouth brought him trouble again, as always.

When Raine lowered her head and looked at the bunny, she realized just then that the animal could see the shape shifter in its beast form. The bunny on her lap was still shivering with fear.

"Why can't humans see the beast form of the shape shifter but animals can?" Raine lifted her head and asked Calleb.

"Because when we turn into our beast form, we actually move to a different realm fromthat of humans. It's called spiritual realm. As to why animals are able to see us… hmm… I don't really understand how it works. Maybe Torak or Raphael can give you an answer. I don't have a deep understanding about this." Calleb tilted his head, trying to recall if there was something in his memory about this, but he just could not remember it.

"You need to study more." Raine chided.

"What to do? I'm still young. I need more experience." Calleb tried to justify his ignorance.

"72 years old and you call yourself young? You are an old man." Raine sneered at him. "I want to go back inside. Maybe he is done with his paperwork."

Raine walked out of the greenhouse with the little bunny in her arms, leaving Calleb mumbling to himself. "How about Torak? He is 869 years old. Does that make him a prehistoric creature?"

Afterwards Calleb followed Raine back to the main house.

Inside the study room, Torak and Raphael were discussing something about their new project when Raine and Calleb entered the room.

The first thing that Torak noticed was the way Raine caressed the bunny in her embrace.

"Are you done?" Raine walked towards Torak and sat on his lap.

"Yes." Torak's eyes zeroed in on the white bunny. "You seem to like the rabbit a lot." He said in a flat tone.

"Yes, I love it. Bunny is fluffy." Raine said adorably while rubbing the bunny's soft fur against her cheeks.

"Alright, it's already late. We will continue to discuss this tomorrow." Torak put Raine down and stood up. "Give the rabbit to Calleb. Let's go to sleep."

"Okay." Raine still did not feel that there was something wrong with Torak when she handed the bunny to Calleb and followed him out of the room.

But instead of waiting for Raine like he used to, Torak went straight to their bedroom, leaving Raine to chase after him.

Even now, Raine still did not realizethat something was off with Torak.

She went to the bathroom to wash and then brush her teeth. She changed into her sleeping gown.

When Raine came out of the bathroom and was about to get into bed, she almost screamed on top of her lungs. She saw a big white wolf lying on the bed and occupying almost all the space.

If it was not because Raine's mind worked faster than her mouth did, someone would haverushed into their bedroom by now.

"Torak?" Raine called out Torak's name as she approached him carefully. "Why did you turn into… your wolf form?"

Torak turned when his name was called. He lifted his big head, his blue eyes staring at Raine. The moment she sat down on the edge of the bed, the white wolf put his head on Raine's lap and nuzzled her hand.

'What is this?' Raine thought, puzzled at Torak's actions.

The white wolf nuzzled her hand again because he did not get what he wanted.

'Does he want me to pat him…?'
