The Love of a Lycan

Chapter 188: Go public (?)

Raphael booked a private room for the four of them in one of the best steak restaurants in the City. When they arrived, the manager guided them to the designated room.

The manager wasa young man with curly hair who wore glasses atop his high nose. He obviously knew Torak though he kept glancing at the woman beside him, trying to see her face. But because Raine was wearing her baseball cap and was flanked by Calleb and Raphael, it was hard to see her face clearly.

The manager was very sure of one thing though: the woman was very young.

Within the business circle, there were rumors about the appearance of Torak's woman when he attended the masquerade ball with her. However, because of the mask that she wore, no one could see her face. Nonetheless they were very certain that his partner was a very young woman with fair skin, skinny body and raven hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall.

Based on that description, the manager knew for sure that the young girl in the masquerade ball is the same girl beside Torak now.

Even so, no one would ever dare expose Torak's private life for public consumption. Not if they wanted to be in good graces with the cold-hearted CEO.

It was not surprising that single ladies kept looking for opportunities to get close to him,one of the most sought after bachelors in the City. Their lack of success seemed to fuel their determination.

The manager held the door open for them to enter. He served them personally along with two waitresses.

An ordinary businessman could certainly not even hope to book this type of private room. The VVIP roomhad the best view of the City and the sea. From inside the room, one could hear the sound of waves and the cry of seagulls. And from the room's balcony, one could enjoy the view of the breathtaking sunset over the horizon. Raine wished they came here at sundown.

After the four of them took their seats, Torak gave the menu to Raine for her to order anything she liked. Actually, Raine does not quite know what to order. Before, whenever they dined out, Torak always chose for her.

"I want the same thing you're having." Raine closed the menu and looked at Torak. She couldn't decide which type of steak she wanted to eat. Everything on the menu looked mouth-watering and expensive. The astronomical cost of a single order made Raine grimace. In the past, she could only dream about using that much money to rent a room for herself, away from the orphanage.

Upon hearing her timid voice, the manager knew for certain that Raine was only a teenager.

After the orders have been placed, the manager and the two waitresses walked out of the room. Only then did Raine took off her baseball cap and went to appreciate the view of the sea from the balcony.

"Careful." Torak warned Raine when she jumped from her seat and dashed toward the open balcony.

Raine raised both of her thumbs up but didn't slow down. Seeing that, Torak couldn't help but smile.

She was a crying mess when Serefina told her about her dreadful fate at the party, talking about why she didn't want to die and how much she wanted to live a long life with Torak. The sight of her tears then broke Torak's heart as he promised her there was nothing he wouldn't do to keep her safe.

However now, seeing Raine very happy and excited, Torak thoughtshe had probably forgotten about that. Had it not been for all the horrible things that she went through, Torak knew that his mate could actually be a happy child and a positive person.

She has that kind heart that could only belong to angels. Her radiant smile was so bright that it could light up the dark corners of his soul, bathing him with hope and showing him the real meaning of life.

"Torak, why don't you announce your relationship with Raine to the public?" Raphael asked Torak while looking at Raine who was enjoying the view as light breeze gently lifted her hair. "I think she is ready now."

"Not now." Torak said. He looked at the same vision as Raphael with a trace of warm smile upon his lips. He continued to gaze softly at the girl on the balcony with a tender expression he had never bestowed upon anyone before. "This is not the time yet."

"Lucifer already made his move and is spreading rumors about your mate. Raine will soon be in danger if all of those creatures begin searching for her." Raphael reminded Torak again.

This information had been bothering Torak for weeks. His purpose in seeking out Serefina was for her to train Raine. But aside from that, he also wanted Serefina to give Raine another layer of protection. However, the witch disappeared again after she delivered that devastating news at the party. As usual, no one could find her anywhere.

Torak began to suspect that her appearance that night was only to make Raine uncomfortable.

"You already have a plan in your mind, right?" Raphael knew Torak wouldn't decide on something as important as this without thoroughly considering all possibilities and exploring all options. Since he was so adamant in delaying the announcement of his relationship with Raine, he must already have something in his mind.

"I do. I will tell you when the time is right. Just keep your eyes on that Dragon shifter. Make sure he keeps her safe and will not cause trouble for her."

Originally Stephan was appointed to look after Raine silently and discreetly, yet he didn't listen and chose to appear in front of Raine the moment he saw her.Torak almost clawed his face outbut he restrained himself for he knew that he still needed him. Though Raine was a little bit surprised by his sudden appearance, Stephan actually did nothing to harm her.

And more importantly, Raine did not reject the idea of having Stephan watch over her at school.
