53 – Destiny

I held Luna in my arms and rubbed her back until she calmed down.

The crying stopped shortly after that action, but Luna did not think of falling in my arms for a long time with her face turned bright red.

We would have been like that forever if the villagers passing by hadn’t cleared their throats and averted their gazes.

Coming to our senses, we went back to Lawton’s house. Lawton was busy working while we spent time outside.

“What, can I help you?”

Threatening him to become a disciple, he had a dirty personality, so he had to pay attention. I was already in a state of liking Lawton for being someone who could heal Luna’s body.

If even Bella, not Lawton, knew how to heal Luna’s body, I would think even Bella would be a good person.

“Go and get Platinum flowers or some more.”

At Lawton’s blunt words, I nodded her head and turned my gaze to Luna.

“I’m coming alone, so will you wait here?”

“I, I want to go too….”

Perhaps she didn’t want to fall, Luna looked up at me and was very cute like a puppy. But she said that climbing to the top of the mountain would be difficult for me too, so I was worried that Luna, who was uncomfortable with her body, would be able to follow suit.

“You go alone. There is still something left to investigate with Luna.”

Luna shook her head slightly at the sound of Lawton’s voice, making her cry, but I calmed her down with the thought of going to the mountain quickly.

“I’ll be back soon. Wait a little bit.”

With that said, he added his words to Lawton.

“Don’t say strange things to Luna because I’m not there.”

“Eh, that bastard. Am I that person?”

Leaving Lawton’s grunt behind me, I headed for the mountains.

*

“How did you get to know him?”

Luna wiggled her finger in response to Lawton’s question that popped out of nowhere.

“We happened to be in the same group at the academy practice….”

“It may not be a coincidence, it may be destiny.”

Lawton may have just thrown it out without much thought, but Luna wondered if meeting Ross was really destined.

As if she were making up for her own loneliness, one day she magically appeared before her eyes. A person who fills the empty heart with warm feelings and values who he is as he is.

Because Luna falling in love with Ross like that was like a predetermined fate….

Suddenly, Luna remembered the feelings she had when she first met Lawton. She exudes a cold chill on the outside, but she was actually a person with a warmer fire than anyone else on the inside.

Luna couldn’t contain her curiosity, so she asked Lawton.

“Did you really intend to take Ross as your apprentice?”

“Yes, I thought his magic would be of great help to my research.”

Lorton, who was crushing herbs in a mortar, added.

“I personally liked it.”

In response to Lawton’s answer, Luna carefully asked what she was most curious about.

“Really…. Did I tell you that Ross likes me?”

At Luna’s question, Lawton turned her head and smiled.

“You saw with your own eyes how Ross reacted to my proposal, right? No one would doubt that it was acting.”

Luna cast her eyes down in her shame as she remembered Ross getting on her knees for her own sake and accepting without hesitation Lawton’s offer to drop out of her academy.

Luna could fully feel that she truly valued her. Because of that, when she was in Ross’s arms, her heart beat like crazy and she couldn’t think of doing anything but buried her face in her arms.

“He is sincere.”

Lawton, who made the powder medicine, approached Luna with a glass of water.

“Eat, because you need to check how hard your body is.”

Take the powder medicine Lawton gave you in your mouth and drink water in a hurry. Lawton, who was watching, asked.

“Okay, is only the left side stiff? Is your right arm or leg uncomfortable?”

At Lawton’s question, Luna nodded her head.

“Other places are fine….”

“Take off her left shoe.”

At Lawton’s request, Luna took off her shoes and socks, and she carefully placed her feet on the table, worried that they might smell her.

Like the relationship between a patient and a doctor, Lawton didn’t hesitate to grab Luna’s stiff left foot and start touching it.

Her “Her toes are all curled up. Are you doing this on purpose?”

“Oh, no. It just keeps going….”

Luna’s feet were slightly twisted. She involuntarily kept straining on her toes, which had been chafed by her shoes and calluses everywhere.

“You just have to describe what it feels like to press with her cane.”

Lawton took out her wand and pressed her Luna’s toe.

“Feeling a little hot… ?”

Lawton nodded her head and moved her staff to the soles of her feet.

“It feels like being touched by ice….”

Pressing here and there with her wand, watching her Luna’s reaction, Lawton wrote them down on her paper.

“Hmm, now hold out her left hand.”

With her right hand, Luna took out her book from her left hand and held out her left arm with difficulty as her arm trembled.

After examining his fingers and shoulders, Lawton said good work, wiped his hands, and sat back down.

“Fortunately, there is no problem with the body itself. It’s just that a piece of bone got stuck in the brain that sends signals to the body, and the pathway that normally sends signals is narrowed. Unlike others, excessive signals are being sent to your left side of your body.”

At Lawton’s words, Luna gulped down her saliva with eyes full of anticipation.

“Well, then….”

“Even if the bone fragments are removed, her body will not immediately return to normal. It’s because her muscles have been over-strained and twisted for over ten years, and her body has become rigid.”

Luna lowered her head in disappointment at Lawton’s words.

“Of course, if he rehabilitates hard for about a year, he will be able to live like everyone else. I’ll go up to the capital by myself sometime next weekend. You can’t heal in a place like this.”

“Persimmon, thank you… !”

At Lawton’s words, Luna got up from her seat with tears in her eyes and bowed her back to thank her.

“Hey, someone couldn’t do it after decades of hard work, Ross met a good teacher and solved it.”

“Yes… ?”

When Luna, who did not understand Lawton’s outburst, asked back, Lawton shook her head.

“No. I will organize the records, so please rest.”

For some reason, Lawton’s eyes seemed to be lost in her sorrow, and Luna shut her mouth, thinking that she had something to say.

There were no flowers at the place I went last time, so I had to go over to the other side of the cliff to pick up 3 Platinum flowers.

Returning to Lawton’s abandoned house, Luna seemed tired of waiting and was asleep on the sofa.

She walked over to Lawton, who was sitting at the desk next to him, diligently jotting down something of hers.

“I’m here.”

After putting on the thick protective gloves placed next to the desk, Lawton was delighted with her eyes shining as she took out three platinum flowers from the storage room.

“As expected, it’s a useful ability. It can’t be done, just be my disciple!”

To Lawton’s words, I answered in a puzzled voice.

“I heard you didn’t need it earlier.”

“Originally, when you get old, your mind changes completely.”

With that said, Lawton carefully received the Platinum flowers and went down to the basement.

Looking at Luna’s cute sleeping face, she suddenly caught her eyes covered with a blanket lying next to her bed.

What the hell is this? I’ve been curious since before. Without much thought, I lifted the overturned blanket, and there was a statue of a beautiful woman that looked like it would move at any moment.

As she was observing the statue with curious eyes, she suddenly heard a shout from behind.

“What are you doing!!!”

Lawton approached me angrily and removed my hand from the blanket. Exhaling hard, I scratched my head and apologized at Lawton’s angry expression.

“I’m sorry. I was curious about what….”

“Never touch my things without my permission. No two warnings.”

I nodded hurriedly, realizing that I was genuinely annoyed by Lawton’s warning gesture.

Luna looked at me with eyes full of sleep, probably awakened by Lawton’s shout.

Lawton, who was breathing heavily, sighed.

“It’s getting late, so go home now. I can’t help you any more.”

At Lawton’s words, I asked about Luna’s treatment.

“How can you help Luna… ?”

“I will go to the capital myself next weekend.”

I smiled with joy at Lawton’s words, returning with his usual grunt voice.

“Thank you. Master.”

After grabbing Lawton’s hand and thanking him, he withdrew his hand in displeasure.

“What is Master! Hurry up and get out!”

Laughing at Lawton’s angry look, he greeted Luna.

“Then let’s go. If you come to the capital next week, I will introduce you to the members I have not met.”

“Hmph, do whatever you want.”

I said goodbye to Lawton, who grumbled until the end, and left the house with Luna.

“Good.”

At my words, Luna flinched and responded by wriggling her fingers.

“Yeah, thank you…. Thanks to Ross.”

Seeing Luna’s shy expression, I silently took her book from Luna’s left hand.

As Luna, startled by my sudden action, looked at me with her eyes widen than usual, I put her hand in Luna’s left hand, which she was holding with her book disappearing.

“Let’s go.”

Let’s say that while holding onto Luna’s left hand, which was gripped so tightly that it hurt. Luna replied with a pretty smile.

“Yes… !”

Feeling the warmth of Luna’s hand, I walked towards the carriage, matching her stride.
