35 – Monster Hunter.

‘My hands have become incredibly fast.’

Arrebijou saw Ed holding a carving knife and carving something from start to finish, so he knew that his hands were incomparably quicker than the first. After finishing the job of scraping the bones with a carving knife without clogging, he made a core in the skeleton lizard’s chest and raised it up. After confirming that all the bones were well connected, Ed paid attention to the part where the saddle would go up.

“Whoa. After all, it’s easy once you’ve done it once.”

Looking at Ed’s watch, it had been three and a half hours since he started working, and it was a little over lunchtime. Looking at Edgar Arrebijou, who opened the subspace and stored the Skeleton Lizard, he said.

“Maybe we can order a saddle after lunch.”

And in the afternoon, Ed thought, it might be time to skeletonize the rest of the bones too.

“Ed, is it the first time you did it yesterday? It’s not like you’ve done it once, it’s an incredibly skilled hand movement that seems like you’ve done it hundreds of times.”

Arebijou asked without hiding that he was surprised by Ed’s skill. Arebijou is a paladin, having learned his swordsmanship by wielding his sword like mad, he knows how hard it is to master a single move perfectly. Thinking that that also applies to father-in-law, Ed felt abnormal.

Ed nodded slightly at Arebijou’s words and said while placing the carving knife on the table.

“This is my first time making a desert lizard with a skeleton, but I got tired of using regular skeletons. Since the basics are the same, it’s a bit of an application.”

“Ah. I see. Application.”

It was a slightly unclear answer, but since Ed said yes, Arebizou had no choice but to believe it. Since he had used the opportunity that only came once a month yesterday, it was impossible to ask him the truth, and it didn’t seem like Ed was lying for no reason.

Like Glowin, Arebizou promised that she would write it down somewhere and ask questions the next time she met the saint, and escaped from the demolition center with Ed.

Ed, who had a good rest yesterday, stretched out and came out. While enjoying a simple buffet-style breakfast, Glowin, who had traveled with them, and Arrebijou, the supervisor, came down a little late and sat down at Ed’s table.

“Ed, what did you do yesterday? It looks like you’ve been in the room the whole time…”

Glowyn looked at Ed and asked. Ed, who produced two skeletons in one day, did not come out except for meals the next day, stuck in his room, so I couldn’t help but ask him what he was doing in the room. Arrebijou, who was next to her, also nodded and expressed with her body that she wanted to ask something like Gloween.

“I adjusted the skeleton in the room. If an opponent stronger than the Desert Lizard appears, it will be difficult to fight with the current skeleton.”

“Oh, I see.”

Arebizu thought that Ed’s skeleton could easily subdue the Desert Lizard with the weapons it had, but it seemed like it would not be enough considering that his body was strong enough to fight. You could use magic, but Ed’s cold magic was less effective in the south, so Arebizou clearly knew that if such a situation arose, he would have to draw his sword.

“Yes. I finished adjusting the skeleton and took a nap for the first time in a while. I slept well.”

Ed answered like that and continued eating. After getting information that Ed was stuck in his room and not doing much, Glowin and Arebig left the table to get their own meal.

Ed, seeing Gloween and Arebiju go to get food, remembered adjusting the skeleton in the room yesterday.

‘Isn’t it a bit unreasonable for an unidentified skeleton to use sword techniques?’

Ed received the skeleton that Glodia purchased through a legitimate route and created and used only the core himself. I spent a lot of time trying to overcome the limits of such a skeleton, but I couldn’t reach the desired result. If it was in the north, you could expect a similar effect to using a sword technique just by holding the ice sword to the skeleton, so there was no need to adjust it.

I brought three of the best ones out of the hot skeletons I saw at the Cetin Divine Academy and adjusted them, but the results were not satisfactory. I thought that it would be difficult to hunt the Desert King Lizard, which Ed had targeted, to the extent that he could not use perfect sword skills and slightly overloaded his core to extract mana and use it.

Ed thought as he looked around at the hunters who were eating breakfast with hangover-stained faces in groups of two and three at the inn.

‘Wouldn’t it be possible to make a Skeleton Knight if I found an intact hunter’s corpse in the desert?’

A Hunter worthy of becoming a Death Knight would not die in that desert, so it seemed that if he obtained bones that could use mana, he would be able to have a better skeleton than he is now. If it’s a hunter’s bone that can handle mana, even if you can’t make a skeleton knight, the possibility of using sword skills is quite high.

‘The problem is Mr. Arebijou.’

The plan comes to nothing the moment Arrebijou gives an opinion that the hunter’s body should be returned to the guild. From the point of view of a necromancer, it was natural to use the corpse of a warrior who died while dealing with monsters, but since he had a saintess as his guardian, he thought that he should refrain from such an appearance.

Ed emptied a plate, thinking about how to secretly take the hunter’s corpse, and got up to fill his slightly empty stomach.

They might have to spend a little longer in the desert, so they packed enough emergency food and water, and Ed and Arebijou came out of the barrier. Ed held the Necromancer license, opened the subspace, restored the Skeleton Desert Lizard in order, and took them out.

Ed lowered the Skeleton Desert Lizard’s body and climbed onto the saddle. The leather saddle perfectly covered the terrifying ride of the bone skeleton Desert Lizard, and the stirrups made it easy to secure both legs. Arrebijou still had some reluctance to ride a skeleton, but he got on to watch over Ed and to protect him.

“Mr. Arebijou, let’s go.”

“Ed, I think you’d better go slowly at first. I’ve learned to ride, but it’s still awkward.”

“Yes. Let’s go slowly at first.”

Following Ed’s command, the Skeleton Desert Lizard kicked off the dry floor and started walking. Feeling his body shake, Ed made the Skeleton Desert Lizard walk briskly, and it started running shortly thereafter. Arebijou quickly adapted and enjoyed the wind blowing around him.

“Ed, are there any monsters you targeted when you came to the South?”

“I’m aiming for the Desert King Lizard.”

“He’s the strongest guy in the South…?”

“Yes. The Desert Lizard easily killed three of them, but I personally wonder what difference King has to climb to the peak of the South.”

“Certainly I’m curious too.”

Ed read a lot about Southern Monster Ecology and memorized the characteristics of every monster in the book. Among the monsters living in the south, there was only one monster that showed notable individual differences: the Desert Lizard. In the case of the Desert Lizard that the two are currently riding, it is classified as a weak southern ecosystem weapon, but the Desert King Lizard is said to be strong enough to require a separate table of contents.

And Ed had seen similar cases up north. The monsters were almost similar in appearance, but the difference between those with horns and those without were very large, and when they became Gigant-level monsters, it became difficult to deal with them. Ed thought that if the Desert Lizard became stronger due to a slight difference, it could be used as material for subspace.

The two of them, riding the Skeleton Desert Lizard as far south as possible, had no choice but to stop and cover their faces with their hands.

“Mr. Arebijou, I can’t go any further.”

“Yes. It’s hard to open my eyes. Mr. Ed, please go home.”

A sandstorm began to disturb Ed and Arebijou. Today, I went out far with only a little food for reconnaissance, but I was blocked by an unexpected environmental variable. I looked at the equipment of the hunters who went out to hunt monsters, but I couldn’t prepare it because I didn’t see anyone carrying equipment in case of sandstorms.

Ed turned the direction of the Skeleton Desert Lizard and ran towards the way he came back. In a short while, the Skeleton Desert Lizard’s footprints disappeared, but since I brought the compass, I was able to run accurately towards the north. Ed and Arebijou, who got out of the range of the sandstorm, spit out the sand that came into their mouths and brushed off the sand on their bodies.

“Whoa… I don’t belong to the Hunter Guild, so I don’t know about this.”

“Wasn’t it in the book Ed was reading?”

“Yes. Most of them only mentioned how they fought monsters, but the terrain was not described in detail.

Reliability started to drop from the part related to the ogre, but since there was no proper information, I wanted to burn the book. It’s because the types of monsters he encountered were few, but he thought that the others would be fine, and Ed continued to move the Skeleton Desert Lizard toward Les Sand.

*

As Ed shook off the sand from his body, he hinted to Hunter, who stood guard, that there was a strong sandstorm.

“Have you been there?”

“Yes. Because I have something to ride.”

At Ed’s words, Hunter remembered the Skeleton Desert Lizard the two rode on a moment ago. If there was a ride that did not get tired, it seemed possible to make a round trip in one day because it was less affected by the hot southern weather and reduced the consumption of stamina.

“Hmm. Originally, information about the beyond is the property of the guild, so we won’t tell you, but it can be said that it is the true southern boundary.”

“Okay. Thanks for letting me know.”
