Silver Wish

Chapter 72 - They found it.

Sumire tried to avoid meeting with the guys who still had feelings for her. She no longer wanted her dearest to misunderstand. They are already at this age; she just wants to spend the rest of her life with him with no more issues. So for the men who supposedly still harbored feelings for her, she tried to avoid them or keep them at arm's length for when she has no choice but to see them. This man falls into the latter category.

Lucifer stood in front of the large ruined statue, observing it.

Carter had led her this way, but it seemed Lucifer had already found his way here. She dislikes how this guy can find everything so easily. It was indeed a chapel in the center of town, but at the same time, it wasn't easy to find. After all, the infected surrounded this place.

'This young man's feelings for Rikka-chan are so strong.' Sumire thought she understood that already but now she is seeing him under another light.

"Indeed, there is something here."

"Do you think you can break it?"

Lucifer nodded. "It shouldn't be an issue. But it would alert them."

Sumire frowned. "I suppose there is no other way."

"Yes, that is correct. Or rather, this space is specifically made that way."

This is troubling; they finally found it, and yet it would mean alerting the enemy. Perhaps they could head back another day after formulating a plan. But she wants to confirm first that they are both here.

Sumire blinked at those words. "Eh?"

"If your purpose is to confirm they are there, then I should be able to go in and ask."

'Why is he making this sound like a simple customer service thing?' But ah he is right. To a certain degree, Rosalia-chan still thinks of Lucifer as her father. He was able to rescue Makino-chan with this identity before.

"Then go inside."

Lucifer turned to Carter. "Do you have anything of that woman you want to find?"

Carter pulled out a bracelet and handed it over. "This will it do?"

"It should be sufficient." Lucifer turned to her. "So as for you."

"I want to find my daughter's husband. You don't need anything for that one, I am sure?"

"Indeed, since he is also a dark being," Lucifer looked her up and down and chuckled. "If Terashima is unable to feed you well, perhaps you ought to come over?"

Lucifer exhaled deeply. "It seems you misunderstood; I only said those words to get her out. I have not seen her since."

Sumire stared at the man dumbfounded. As she thought he is crazy! What on earth is he doing pushing Makino-chan away even though he had that opportunity? Geh, this guy, and his low IQ. That was the perfect chance for them to make up, but he still let her go?

"You are staring at me so intently; could it be that you have fallen in love with me again?"

"Over my dead body."

"A cemetery wedding does seem appealing."

Sumire couldn't say anymore. She has always had a difficult time dealing with this guy. Her gaze fell on Carter, looking at the empty space with concern. "Quickly, reveal it."

'This could be a mistake. But this is the first clue they have had in so long.' Sumire was very desperate to find Haruka not just for her daughter's sake but for Haruka too. She recently contacted Ren, and he mentioned a few things about Haruka's abilities.

There is more to Sophia's feelings towards Haruka or the so-called betrayal. The reason they kidnapped him is most likely to do with his abilities. If she thought about it carefully, he shouldn't have been able to conceal his hanyou abilities for so long.

Her thoughts broke off when Lucifer extended his hand out, and a large wave of black energy poured out. He directed it towards the broken statue, and in that flash second, she saw something crack from the sky. A large lightning bolt seemed to crash down, and in that second, the statue vanished; in its place was a large black hole.

Lucifer also agreed. "It is in poor taste, though."

"Should we wait here then?"

"If I am gone longer than an hour, you can head back. I shall go to your manor and report back, or you could visit me."

Sumire couldn't miss the smirk on his face when he said the last part. She shrugged it off and perched down on a rock. "Go in already. I promised to be lovey-dovey with Yuhi today."

Lucifer sighed deeply. "Your way of asking favors has not changed." He trailed off and removed something from his cloak. It was a bottle of black-looking pills. "Take one. I was not kidding when I said he is taking care of you well; your complexion looks awful."

He didn't say anymore before walking into the dark space. It didn't disappear when he went inside, so Sumire confirmed it. This is their hideout, at least here. The portal doesn't seem to close immediately, probably due to the many people who need to come in and out.

Her thoughts broke off when she saw Carter looking towards the portal. "I hope I am wrong, but please do not try to go inside. Do you know how harmful it is for a normal human to go inside the dark space?"

Carter laughed awkwardly. "Initially, I did have such a crazy thought."

So that explains why he was silent earlier.

"Is everyone in her family truly-"

Carter clenched his fist. "They are all dead. Miss Sophia didn't spare even the young children. When I arrived at the manor after receiving the news, it was already too late; a familiar note on the door said karma written in red lipstick. It was something only she could do."

"Was Rika-chan close to her family?"

"She was on awkward terms with her father, but as for the rest, she was very close with them. However, she was on awkward terms with her mother for a while. Her mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness when she was abroad, and she immediately rushed back, and it seems they sorted out their differences. She was close with her younger cousins; it seems like she liked children a lot. I often found her playing with them."

Sumire couldn't miss the tender look on his face while he spoke about Rikka-chan. Sumire sighed deeply. "I see; she is a bit different than the rumors I have heard."

Carter chuckled. "Indeed, but we all become beasts when it comes to the people we love. Rikka-can truly liked Karashima Haruka; she always cried whenever I did it with her. She would cry and apologize to me. It was painful, but I think I understood.. The same way she loved him and couldn't let him go, it was the same feelings I have towards her."
