Silver Wish

Chapter 34 - Dangerous book Part 1

There are so many things she wants to say, but it felt like there was never enough time to say. Right now, there are things she needs to tell him. She has to quickly say it; if not, then she may genuinely lose him. "Kiryu--"

That is when she hears the front door slam shut.

The footsteps approach very quickly before she could even react; she hears a sigh at the doorway. "I won't tell Shichiro, but you two aren't exactly subtle, are you?"

Lila doesn't know if she is revealed or not to spot green hair and glasses. It was Wataru and not the other three. If it were the others, then she would not know what to tell them. No, she knew what would happen if either of the others caught her with Kiryu. It would escalate into a huge fight.

"Wataru."

Kiryu laughs. "Maybe you can tell them that you caught Lila flirting with me?"

Lila quickly realized what position they were still in, lips at his neck, her sitting on his ŀȧp. She moved away from Kiryu at lightning speed.

Wataru sighs. "I don't think there is anything to say. Kiryu quit picking on her. She has bad mood swings these days."

She shot him a harsh glare. "I do not!"

"Then what would you call all that locking yourself in your room thing?"

Shichiro or Kou, one of those blabbed. Lila sighs. "You came back after seeing the situation with the remaining government, right? Will they be of any help?"

"No." Wataru shook his head. "Those guys are useless. The people would not listen to them even if we forced them." He looks over at Kiryu. "Going to help?"

"Sure, as long as I can remain in disguise." Kiryu trailed off. "I guess I should do something about this hair."

Why is Wataru so accepting of this? Lila knew he would not freak out like the other three, but his reaction makes it seem like he knew about Kiryu. Before she could say a word, they hear the sound of a phone beeping. Kiryu whips his phone out and sighs. A troubled look appeared on his face.

"I will step out for a bit." Kiryu briefly looks over at her.

In the next second, she felt his soft lips at her cheek. "Well, later." Kiryu awkwardly rushed off.

Lila froze. Eh? What did he just do there?

Wataru nods. "So it seems I came at a bad time. Maybe if I delayed it, Kiryu would have done something to you already."

"You know he wouldn't." Lila mumbled. "Kiryu is a kind guy; he won't take advantage of me." But even as she said those words, numerous images from the past appeared in her head. She always convinced herself that Kiryu was not as bad. He was a gentleman, unlike her husband. However, maybe she was only saying that.

"I won't deny the kind guy part. But he is still a guy and your the girl he loves."

Lila sighs deeply. "Do you have to remind me? I already know." She trailed off. "Hey, Wataru, did you know that Kiryu was doing stuff for me all this time?"

It was a stupid question she already had the answer to.

"That depends what you mean by stuff. The spending his whole life devoted to protecting you, keeping you safe or doing those dangerous jobs, and risking his health."

"Don't tell me," Lila mumbled.

She doesn't need to hear it; she already felt so bad. What does she do about Kiryu? She and Haruka had several conversations about it before this whole mess occurred. But it seemed like they could never decide anything. Kiryu is a good guy, and he deserves somebody to love him. He deserves a nice girl. Yet the one in his heart even now is her.

Lila shook her head. She needs to stop thinking about this right now. What good will it do?

Something caught her attention. It was a parcel in Wataru's hands.

Lila glanced over at the bag in his hands curiously. "What's that?"

"Oh, right, my father gave it to me. He said it was a parcel for you."

At that comment, she blinked puzzled. A parcel for her? But why did it end up with the government people? Sure with the current situation, it isn't easy to receive parcels. But in the case that the poster cannot find the sender, they would dispose of it or place it elsewhere. Lila found it difficult to believe that the government people would have it.

Still, if Wataru brought it all the way here and nothing happened then, it should be safe, right? Lila looks at the parcel skeptically but walked over to where Wataru placed it on the desk. She picks it up safely, and nothing seemed to happen, so a relieved sigh escaped her lips.

It was probably misplaced or something; there is nothing to worry about. Lila slowly undid the wrapping paper.

She didn't know what she expected to see. But the last thing she expected was to find a small paperback book. The cover was worn out and faded, so it was difficult to make out the picture.

Lila opened the book, she only went past the cover, but that was when it happened. A strong black light appeared, and gradually, she saw small creatures emerging from the other pages. She moved her hand away but noticed one of the creatures had grabbed onto it.

Demon familiars? But who would send-- Lila paused. It could be anybody; she has too many enemies.

"Lila!" Wataru exclaimed, panicked.

She shook her head. "Stay over there."

Lila still did not know what was happening, but one thing was for sure, this is too dangerous. She felt a wincing pain in her arm and noticed that her hands were gradually turning a different color. She slowly lost control of her fingertips.

Of course, it was a trap, but how did it get through her barrier?
