Silver Wish

Chapter 32 - Who is in more pain?

What is the truth, and what are lies? It seems like she will find out more from now on. The truth shrouded in darkness, pain, and loneliness.

For the next few minutes, Haruka explains everything to her. He describes how Zane was the one who caused everything. The one who pulled them apart from one another from the very moment she met him. The memories she lost then, that incident that happened when they were younger - everything, it was all that mans doing.

Lila already expected this. But it still surprised her. To think that man planned all of this from the start. His grudge against mother is this strong? Or is there something else she is not getting here?

"Wife?"

"Sorry, I was just thinking, why would he go this far?"

"Well, you remember we saw that clip before that Myou brought over? It has something to do with that girl in the video."

That girl in the video, huh? Back then, she did not pay attention properly, but there was something different about that girl. Something different? No, something familiar.

"Haruka, do you still feel bad?" Lila wanted to ask him more questions but noticed him placing his hand on his head.

"Yeah."

"Should I sing something for you?"

Haruka chuckled softly. "It seems like you still remember."

Whenever Haruka had bad hung overs in the past, she would sing him a song or play some music on her guitar. Her guitar, huh? When was the last time she played? Her fingers might have forgotten already. She left the guitar behind in New York, but Haruka probably left it back in the house.

"It's okay if you sing now, I will cry."

Lila clenched her fist. "You won't, liar."

"Mmm, I don't know. I cried a lot on the day you left me in the park. Ditching our date? You could have waited until the end. I had a surprise for you."

A surprise? Now that she thought about it, he acted strangely strange. On that day, she noticed he kept watching the time on his watch. "What big surprise did I miss?"

"Before I say that, could you take your jacket off? I want to see what you're wearing."

Lila rolls her eyes. "No use trying to flirt with me when I am wearing practical clothes."

She decided not to wear anything fancy because wearing such clothes now attract too much attention. But maybe because she felt like reminiscing, she was indeed wearing a dress today. Lila could not miss the delight in his face when she removed her jacket. It was a simple off-shoulder simple one piece, but Haruka looked at her like she was some kind of goddess was a bit embarrassing.

"Uh oh, you look too amazing to be on the phone with me right now."

"Stupid."

Haruka laughs. "Cheered up?"

Her gaze softens when she hears his words, as she thought she loves this person a lot. It doesn't matter what other things happen in their time apart. Whenever they are on the phone like this, their feelings for one another show through.

...

Lila spent another two hours on the phone with Haruka. They spoke about mundane and random topics, but it made her feel a lot better than before. After the call, Lila intended to call Kiryu when she hears a knock on the window. Could it be--- Lila walked over to the window and looked down, indeed to spot Austin Kiryu perched on the branch of the tree.

A lopsided smile was on his face. She blinks, surprised, and then hears a beep sound.

Lila opened the window, and the moment she did, Kiryu quickly came inside. "Thanks."

"What is it now?"

It felt like they were meeting each other every day now. In the past, she would not have minded that. But she was meeting Kiryu every day with nobody knowing, made it look like she was sneaking around or something. Lila quickly shook her head. Quit thinking about such strange things.

Kiryu points to the basket in his hands. "I found some good fruit. I figured I would give it to you right now instead of waiting."

Did he come all the way out here for that reason? "Then, should we eat together?"

He chuckled softly and shook his head. "I have to get back quickly, but enjoy these." Kiryu placed the basket on the table.

Does he have to go back? Go back to where? Lila frowned. Now that she thought it through, she does not ask Kiryu where he goes back to. Indeed he does not remain in those hideouts he brings her to. Perhaps he goes back to her child and Kotori-chan? It seems like something he would do. But where is that place?

Lila knew she ought to be grateful that she could meet with him like this. Unlike before, this is a blessing, but she is not satisfied. She wants to be with him more.

Lila buries hers her face in his back. "Stay, please."

At that comment, Kiryu turned her around, so her face landed on his ċhėst instead. He wrapped his arms around her. "You say such misleading things. But I am very happy, Lila."

"Don't misunderstand."

Kiryu laughed. "So tsundere. But yeah, relax, I get it."

Does he? Lila noticed him playing with her hands before giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Are Shichiro and the others out? It's quiet."

Lila nodded. "I think so; they said they would patrol today."

"Then show me around?"

"Okay." Lila moved away from him and walked over to the door. She felt Kiryu carefully take a few steps behind her and sighs. It seems like he doesn't intend to get any closer. Though he hugged her a few minutes ago, it still seemed like he was keeping a distance.

It's lonely, back then they were so close. Sure, things became awkward because she chose somebody else. But even then, Lila noticed there was something different here. Is it because of the situation now? Sure they live in chaotic times, but her thoughts broke when Kiryu grabbed her hand.

The moment she turned around, he kissed her forehead. His lips only lingered for a moment before he pulled back. "Sorry, I won't do anything weird. But I just wanted to do that."

Right now, she wonders who is more in pain.. Her? Kiryu or Haruka.
