Silver Wish

Kiryu gently kissed her temple. "Lila, don't overcomplicate things. Haruka isn't back yet. I don't want you making reckless decisions. I know you still like me."

"I never said that!" Lila exclaimed.

He laughed. "Well, I can tell."

She puffed her cheeks into a pout. All the tension she felt earlier vanished immediately. She still felt slightly light-headed due to that kiss, but she felt more relaxed now. Lila turned to her half-eaten sandwich and continued to eat.

For the next few moments, nobody spoke up. She glanced over at Kiryu. He does look different now. She saw his hanyou state plenty in the past, but even then, it was not like this. His pretty silver hair seems to shine even more.

Kiryu chuckled. "Careful, I will misunderstand if you keep looking at me like that."

She really does find this strange. It is still the same Kiryu, but the vibe around him is different now. She wants to know more about the present him.

"By the way, are you sure you shouldn't go to the meeting?"

Lila sighed. "There is no need for me to be there." She trailed off. "Those people want to take advantage of the current situation and make hanyous reign supreme."

"That's understandable; we lived in the shadows for too long."

"But that issue is resolved already. The current society hanyous are recognized alongside the human race. We can walk freely, have the same jobs and status as other people. So it is not like the situation before."

Both her parents and their friends worked hard to bring this future.

Hanyous are humans too though. Just because they have unusual blood running in their vein does not mean they are a monster. But many people see them as monsters.

Mother worked hard for this, but there are many people who still have their doubts. Then again, drinking blood like a vampire would do is not normal. Lila tried to use the logic that they simply have a different food source to everybody. But that logic did not work with people.

It's not like they have fangs, so they cant be vampires. But what is this blood urge? She does not understand it very well. Her thoughts broke off when she realized how quiet Kiryu was. Lila turned to him, and her eyes widened.

His eyes gradually turned redder, he was clutching his throat, and his breathing seemed unsteady. Is he thirsty? But why does it seem worse than usual?

"Kiryu, do you need--" Her sentence fell short when he slammed his hand against the tree and cornered her.

"Lila, use your powers and go," Kiryu said, almost desperately.

Her eyes widened when she heard his words. How could she possibly leave him in his current state? Is this perhaps the reason why he told her those cold words? The reason why he is distancing himself from others? There are still many things that she does not know yet.

But she can't deny the truth that is right in front of her. The truth is this person is suffering the most. So this is the reason why he keeps repeating he won't do anything.

Kiryus eyes widened. His eyes seemed to glow brighter. "Lila--"

She wrapped her arms around him. "It's okay."

It's okay, please don't suffer alone.

"Im sorry." Kiryu managed to say. In the next second, she felt a sharp prick at her neck.

When she finally got back, Lila went to her room, sat down on her bed, and remained like that for two hours. She was still trying to process the events that happened earlier.

"I don't know what happened, but there was another landslide at the quarantine zone," Shichiro reported as he sat down on the chair.

"Shouldn't you try to comfort me?"

"You don't need it from me."

At that comment, her eyes widened. She glanced over at Shichiro. She cant do it if he is here. How does she get him to leave? Maybe she should tell Kiryu to turn back and leave? But this is the first time he risked himself like this.

Almost like Shichiro understood, he suddenly stood up. "Well, I will leave this here. Make sure to come down for dinner." With those words said, he quickly left the room.

When she heard his footsteps disappear into the hallway, Lila hurriedly made her way to the window. Unlike the others, she did not bother barricading her window. The creatures of the night did not bother her. Maybe because they understood what she was.

The moment she opened the window, Kiryu fell into her arms. Her eyes widened when she saw he was sweating and panting heavily. "Lila, sorry about this. But could I hide out here for tonight?"

At that comment, she briefly glanced down. A group of people wearing strange clothing were looking around. Is somebody chasing him? She quickly closed the curtain and locked the balcony door.

"Kiryu, do you want to lay down?"

"Im fine like this, it's more comfortable in your arms."

She bit her bottom lip. "Now is not the time for such nonsense." She held back her tears. Why does Kiryu have to suffer like this? What can she do for him?

Kiryu brushed his lips against her neck. "You tasted so sweet earlier.."

"Do you want some more?"

He shook his head. "Could I use your shower? I want to cool off for a bit."

Lila nodded, and she pointed to the door at the right. Kiryu kissed her forehead lightly before letting go of her. He still staggered a bit, but she watched him safely enter the bathroom.

Those people who were chasing Kiryu were Rosalia-chans people? She recognized the bizarre uniform from afar. It seems like Kiryu is not on that side at all. But why on earth is he working independently? She does not understand the current situation.
