Silver Wish

"Since you do not wish to eat. Your body needs rest. " Lucifer laid her down on the bed.

"Eating leisurely like this, while everyone on the dangerous side of the castle is fighting for their lives, or dying does not sit well with me...and that woman the least you could have done was move her to the servant quarters here."

"There is none, and that's why I didn't. I knew if I informed you, then you'd suggest something like her staying with you. But that would only endanger her more, would it not? My dear," He slips off the remains of his robes and proceeds to slowly take hers off. "You're already the Queen of Darkness. You cannot escape your fate. Live amongst the darkness. And forget about the light. It would be impossible for you to return anyway."

' Forget?' If she could have, she would have done so a long time ago.

If it was easier for her to forget, then perhaps even now, she wouldn't be in this much pain.

Before Lucifer could do anything, however, somebody kicked the door open. A flash of black rushed past and pulled her out of bed. Her eyes widened when she saw who it was. Huh? Why?

"Yuhi?" Sumire mumbled.

Indeed the person who stood there was none other than her husband, Terashima Yuhi. What on earth is Yuhi doing here?

"Geez, and you told me you wouldn't go overboard."

"I also told you before that if I have an opportunity, I will steal her from you again."

"It's because you act that way she-"

Sumire extended her hand out and tugged on his coat. "Yuhi?"

Yuhi turned to her and flicked her forehead. He extended his hand out and pinched her cheeks. "Really, you're running away again?"

"I can't help it! I know you won't agree with my choice."

"How can you decide that without asking me? How are you so sure I will say no?"

"Uh, because I'm going to throw my life away-" Sumire coughed. "I know how protective you are of me."

"That's true. I don't like the idea of you sacrificing yourself. Back when we were in high school, I said I would always prioritize you over anybody else."

Right, it was because he used to say things like that.

"But you know Sumire. I also understand the current situation. Moreover, I think we have put Lila under enough grief and sorrow. After everything, I want to see our daughter happy too."

"Then you will let me?"

"-together."

It was just a single word, but Sumire immediately understood what he was trying to say. Her violet-colored eyes widened, alarmed, and she drew back.

"No."

There is no way she cannot allow Yuhi to do this with her.

"Yuhi, I won't let you die." Sumire said, determined.

Yuhi looked at her like he expected her answer but calmly continued. "But I also don't want you to die. I think you know how I feel about that so I won't bore you with the details again. However," Yuhi said sharply. "A life without you is not a life anymore. You know, when you disappeared for seven years, I felt like I was living but not really living. I felt like an empty shell walking. Sumire if you are not with me, it will just end up like before. That is not a life. A life is where I can smile together with the person I love by my side."

After hearing him say those words, Sumire felt the tears she was holding back fall from her eyes.

"Oh no, I-"

He walked over to her and wiped her tears. "Let's do this together, Sumire, alright? Back then, I would have thrown away everything to save you. But our daughter, she doesn't deserve to suffer anymore. She also deserves to be happy with the person she loves."

"You've changed Yuhi-san."

He truly has changed. 'I used to find it sweet that he would do anything for my sake, and even now I do. But I was always worried about it. It felt like Yuhi-san only treasured me and didn't care for the rest of the world.

Even when their other kids were born, he still doted on her.

"Is it a good change? I hope I am earning some more points."

Sumire laughed when she heard him say those words. He is so foolish, but her gaze softened. This person has always been by her side.

Her gaze fell back onto Lucifer, who had finished slipping his black robe back on. "Yuhi decided so-"

Lucifer exhaled deeply. "I thought as much. If he was actually an idiot and let you go a second time around, I would have an excuse to kill him."

"Lucifer-"

Yuhi stopped her and shook his head. "I can't argue with that logic. Back then, I should have done the same. I should have told you we would face this challenge together; if I did, you might not have left."

"But that wasn't your--" Sumire stopped in mid-sentence when she saw the look on his face.

After a few years, many people say that the marriage becomes boring, 'you will feel less love towards your partner.' But that is not the case with her and Yuhi.

The feelings she has for Terashima Yuhi continue to grow every single year.

"You two can discuss the rest of the details; stay here tonight. I have a little surprise for you too, so it is better to stay instead of traveling back and forth."

A surprise? Before Sumire could ask what the details were; the man was already walking away. The moment Lucifer left, Yuhi sat on the couch and went on a full-blown lecture.

"I seriously can't believe you. Again? Since the day Lila brought you back home, you've been apologizing nonstop for leaving. But you ran away from home again and this time have no plans of returning since you would no longer be here."

Her sweat fell. He looks like an angry lion. She supposes it can't be helped. Sumire walked over and sat on his ŀȧp as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She brought her lips to his neck and placed a soft trail of kisses.

"If this is a bribe, you can stop," Yuhi muttered. "Even I have a hard time getting affectionate with you when I am angry."

"Not a bribe. This is for my sake."

"My wife, you're so selfish." He trailed off, and she felt his hands on her hair. "You know I truly can't survive without you. It may seem strange to others, but I can't do it. Others can move on after a while and have a new partner. But I can't, Sumire your my lifeline."

"I know."

"I don't think you do since you keep running away."
