RWBY: Fireborn

Chapter 89 - War

"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!"

"MOMMY!"

"WHO PISSED OFF THE JOLLY GREEN GIANT?!"

"WHAT THE F*UCK KIND OF GUN IS THAT?!?!"

*BOOM* *Que heavy metal Doom music*

.

Those were the sounds currently hear though out the entire Emerald Forest as the First-year Beacon Students were being chased by a nine-foot-tall man in green armor. Each of his steps was accented by the massive booming of his gun as he followed the scared students. With an even, slow stride, he was slowly catching up with the students. As he caught up to the fleeing students, he leveled his gun and went to fire. But as he squeezed the trigger, a blur of red rose petals appeared, surrounded the students, and flew away with them in tow.

.

Once the man saw that they got away, he grunted and walked back the way he came. His gat far faster than what he chased the students with. After a few minutes, the man came a crossed a stone cliff face. Walking up to it, the man quickly threw a flashbang behind him and knocked on a hidden door rapidly. As the flashbang went off, the door opened and the man rushed inside and slammed the door closed. Inside was Professor Port and Doctor Oobleck. The hidden room contained chairs, a table, several shelves, a kitchenette, and a monitor set up that expanded the entire Emerald Forest. From the room, several hallways branched off of it.

.

Port: "How goes the hunt, Young Logan?" Port asked as the man walked over to a corner of the hidden room.

Oobleck: "From the looks of things, I say that they're hopefully gonna learn the reason behind this activity soon." Oobleck said as the man's back open up like an upside-down 'Y' and Logan pulled himself out.

Logan: "Not really, Team RWBY's leader has been on stand-by to rescue the other students." Logan said as he landed on the ground in a pair of shorts and a wifebeater, both soaked in sweat. "But man, this thing sucks!"

Port: "I thought you could control any type of heat along with your semblance?" Port asked as he saw Logan breathing heavily.

Logan: "I can, but it takes all my concentration to just move the damn thing without crushing myself." Logan grumbled as he glared at the Exo-suit that Harold Mulberry, Beacon's Weapon crafting and Upkeep Professor, made. "Seriously, why won't he let me fix that issue? It would even change that much from what it looks like right now."

Oobleck: "That's due to Atlas, I'm afraid." Oobleck said as he appeared next to Logan with a bottle of water. "Their excuse is they were looking for a new type of exo-suit for farmers to use to help maintain their fields. However, the Paladin-290 was the result of said search."

Port: "Yes, they have a bad habit when it comes to things like that." Port said as he looked over several monitors that showed parts of the Emerald Forest. "It appears that they have set up a basecamp, in a good position as well. It appears Team JNPR has taken command of them all too."

Oobleck: "Surprising, considering that they haven't shown anything of the sort." Oobleck said as he zoomed over to Port.

Logan: "It's not." Logan said as he walked over to them. "Jaune has the makings of a brilliant strategist and commander. It's one of the things I made sure to bring out of him during my classes. He has the talent to command an army with unparalleled skill if trained right."

.

Oobleck: "Are you sure?" Oobleck asked as he sipped his ever-present, never-ending coffee cup.

Port: "If he is, then his talent could attract Atlas." Port pointed out.

Logan: "I'm sure, and I already talked about it with him." Logan said as he grabbed a folding chair that was leaning against the wall and sat down. "Jaune understands that Atlas will want to bring him into their fold if, or once, they find out about it. He understands that and doesn't care. To Jaune, his team, his friends, his loved ones, his family. They are what drives him to be the best version of himself he can be."

.

Port: "And if they come knocking on his door?" Port asked as they watched the camp through cameras.

Logan: "Then they better hope it's not when he and Pyrrha are not having their private time." Logan joked. "I remember when the two of them were relaxing under a tree when Cardin tried to mess with him."

Oobleck: "I remember that day, Cardin ended up in the infirmary with a broken nose, arm, and leg." Oobleck said as he looked at Logan. "We couldn't find the cause of that incident and Cardin couldn't remember what happened that day at all."

Port: "Remind me not to do that then." Port sweatdropped at the realization of what Jaune could do when he was annoyed at the least.

Logan: "If anything, it's my fault for turning him into that monster." Logan laughed.

.

The three chuckled at the thought and quietly went back to observing the basecamp the First-year students made. As they watched the students, Logan pulled a notebook off of a shelf and started writing inside it. Soon an hour passed and the sky started to darken when the sound of heels echoed from one of the halls. Logan knew who it was and ignored them as he continued to take notes on the student's basecamp while Port and Oobleck greeted the person. Soon, the two of them left, leaving Logan alone with the person in heels.

.

Logan: "How was your nap, Love?" Logan said as he felt arms wrap around his shoulders.

Glynda: "Just fine, dear." Glynda said as she kissed his head. "I'm guessing you used this is to mess with them while I was asleep?" She said, gesturing to the exo-suit.

Logan: "Yep~," Logan said, popping the 'P'. "I borrowed Mulberry's exo-suit to make it a little more unfair for them. Though, it's a lot harder to use than I thought."

Glynda: "Is that why you smell like a dumpster fire?" Glynda asked as she took the notebook from Logan. "Nice of you to note down all of their weaknesses, hun. With this, it would be simple to overrun them with ease."

.

Logan: "I wouldn't count on that since Jaune is the one leading them." Logan said as he stood. "Plus, Ruby saw me in the suit and could easily identify the weapon I was using as well. After all, she helped me build that damn thing." Logan said as he gestured to the massive double-barreled shotgun in the exo-suit's hands.

Glynda: "What is that thing anyway?" Glynda asked pointing towards the gun in the exo's hands.

Logan: "Lucifer." Logan said with a hint of pride. "A 4-gauge, double-barrelled shotgun with an under-mounted hooked chain launcher. I was sleep-deprived when I made the blueprint for it." Logan chuckled at the memory. "It's not something I would use in the field due to its heavy weight. But it's more than enough to scare people shitless when they see or hear it."

Glynda: "Buckshot?" Glynda asked fearfully.

Logan: "Bird." That was all that Logan said before walking down one of the hallways.

Glynda: "Well, I did fall for the man." Glynda said to herself when she realized how crazy Logan is.

.

.

Jaune sighed as he looked out at the basecamp that was built by the students that were gathered. While Jaune was busy dealing with this surprise trip turned survival game for the first year of Beacon, he left the building of the basecamp to Cardin at his insistence. Jaune was now regretting that decision as the teams Cardin hated were the closest towards a poorly constructed fence that couldn't even keep a Jackalope, the bunny Grimm, out. Jaune grunts out a sigh as he feels someone approach him.

.

Ruby: "Jaune, are you okay?" Ruby, the ever-so-happy girl asked.

Jaune: "Ruby, it's been less than a day since this trip- no this game, started and we've lost so much already." Jaune said as he looked at the broken moon. "We've lost Pyrrha in the first hour due to a person in a green exo-suit with a portable ship's cannon as a weapon. Ren's unconscious and Nora is missing. That's just from my team along, heck, your missing Yang and Blake while Weiss is captured."

.

Ruby: "True, but I know that they're okay." Ruby said. "I know that Yang and Blake will be fine while Weiss will do something when the time is right. So there's no need to worry."

Jaune: "I wish I had that positivity of yours." Jaune said with a smirk. "But, I understand where you get it though."

Ruby: "Good. Now we need a plan in case we get attacked during the night." Ruby said as she got Jaune's attention.

Jaune: "While I would like to post guards during the night, but we can't." Jaune said with a sigh. "Too many have been chased all day long and everyone is mentally exhausted."

Ruby: "How many do we have?" Ruby asked.

Jaune: "Total, about thirty people." Jaune sighed. "Those that are able-bodied, an astounding ten people including us. Those that aren't, are either heavily injured, mentally drained and asleep, or outright unconscious due to injuries. I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who can heal them."

Ruby: "Can you think of anything?"

Jaune: "The only thing I can think of is using a sacrificial lamb-type of plan." Jaune said as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

.

Jaune descended into quiet thoughts while Ruby gazed at the stars overhead. Ruby trusted Jaine to come up with a plan. While she was able to make plans up on the fly, Jaune was able to play 3-D chess within a battlefield with ease. Ruby remembered Logan saying that Jaune's mind worked in ways he couldn't really understand. Ruby smirked, she understood that Jaune was no pushover and Logan made sure of that. Soon the two of them descended into a discussion about their next plan

.

As the two team leaders were standing, contemplating what they could do, Logan was casually walking towards the camp with Glynda by his side. The two of them acted like they were on a moonlight walk as a date. They head each other's hand as they walked with Logan waving his hand every now and then killing any Grimm that came near. While Glynda was wearing her normal outfit, Logan had clean up and changed into a simple red shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of boots. The only thing new about them was a pair of wedding bands they each had on their ring fingers.

.

Stopping now and then to share a kiss under the moonlight, the married couple soon reached the basecamp full of students. Logan and Glynda nodded their head when they saw two people, though wounded, standing guard at the front entrance. They both could see that the camp was much worse than they thought or could see from the monitors.

.

Once Logan and Glynda were within earshot of the guards, they stopped and Logan drew a normal handgun. With three quick, consecutive shots, the entire camp was alerted. Within seconds, all that were able to, grouped up at the front entrance. Logan nodded his head when it seemed like everyone that could, had gathered. Logan kissed Glynda on the lips before blurring and appearing in front of the group.

.

Logan: "Everyone, good job so far!" Logan shouted to the group. "For those of you wondering what's going on, welcome to the first of three tests. For what you ask? Simple! These tests tell us, your professors, if you're ready to move up to the next year or not!" As Logan shouted this to the crowd, numerous gasps could be heard. "The rules are easy to understand. Survive for a week! Only those that are marked by us are out. You have until sunrise before the lull in the Grimm ends. Good Luck!"

.

As soon as Logan finished speaking, he erupted into flames and disappeared. His words rang heavily upon their minds. The first one to snap out of their shock was Jaune who began to issue out orders left and right, snapping others out of their shock. Soon the camp was bustling with activity as everyone did their best to follow the orders of Jaune Arc.

.

Glynda: "Your such a cheeseball." Glynda said as she felt Logan's familiar warmth around her waist.

Logan: "Well, we had to tell them what's going on." Logan defended himself as he rested his head on her shoulder. "I figured I might as well put on a little show for you while I'm at it."

Glynda: "Why thank you." Glynda said as she kissed him, which she soon wanted more.

Logan: "Woah, easy there my queen." Logan said as they broke for air. "If it wasn't for where we are, I would take you here and now. But I don't want to give those watching a show."

Glynda: "Back to the room?" Glynda asked in heavy breaths.

Logan: "Back to the room." Logan agreed before the two of them disappeared.
