RWBY: Fireborn

Random Hunter: "What's the plan?!" A hunter shouted at the mission lead.

ML: "You have to ask?! Shoot back!" The mission lead shouted as the ash wall started to crumble. "Do what you have to and survive!"

Logan: "Coco! Velvet!" Logan shouted over the gunfire. "Lay down covering fire as soon as I draw their attention!"

Coco: "Got it!" Coco shouted in return as she spun the barrels of her weapon

Velvet: "Stay safe!" Velvet yelled as she produced a copy of Coco's weapon and did the same.

Logan wasted no time and rushed out of the cave with his ash acting as a shield. As soon as the bandit's attention was drawn to Logan, Coco and Velvet opened fire on either side. Once in the middle of the bandits, Logan dropped his ash shield and started combating them with his sword and [Ace of Spades] while immobilizing a few of them for questioning later. But as Logan fought and dropped a few here and there, he notice something that he'd seen before that made his stomach churn. Even with parts blasted off of them, holes the size of softballs in them, or even if they were missing limbs; they still fought as if they were possessed. Unperturbed by the grievous wounds that steadily built up upon their bodies.

Logan: "Aim for their heads!" Logan shouted to those in the cave. "They're already too far gone to worry about anymore! Give them a merciful death!" To punctuate his point, Logan shot three in the head in quick succession. "They're just puppets!"

As soon as the rest of the group saw how Logan 'defeated' the bandits, they steeled their hearts and took them out rather than trying to subdue them like they were doing. Soon after Logan gave the order, the majority of bandits were lying still with crimson liquids flowing freely on the ground. Logan gritted his teeth as he pulled up the few that he managed to keep alive with his ash. Though they were covered in blood and had a multitude of wounds, none of them was life-threatening. Throwing two thin whips made of his white flames (Aura/mana blocking) around their throats, Logan watched as their eyes lost all light and they dropped to the ground.

ML: "Wow weren't kidding when you said they were puppets." The mission lead spoke as he and the rest of the Hunters left the cave. "What now? This is far from my area of expertise."

Logan: "Well, you're about to get a crash course." Logan sighed out as he pulled a few bodies that were in better shape towards him with his ash not counting those that Logan had captured. "I'm gonna need someone to write down what I find as I do a field autopsy. Pictures included."

ML: "Why?" The mission lead gagged as Logan began to cut open one of the better bodies with an ash knife.

Logan: "Most don't realize it, but semblances leave traces when they're used on the body of a human or Faunus. Be it a slight bit of leftover aura or the slight displacement of an organ." Logan explained as he worked. "But in this case, I did it to establish a time of when they were made into puppets. The longer a human or Faunus is exposed to a semblance like this one, the easier it is to figure out how long they've been like this." Logan concluded. "Three days for this one and it seems to be a post-mortem control."

ML: "How can you be so callous about this?" The mission lead gagged as Logan worked.

Fox: "That's just the way one must be in the life of a Hunter." Fox spoke as Velvet took a picture and Yatsuhashi wrote down what Logan was saying with a quick description of the person.

King: "Who are you?!" The King of Grimm shouted in outrage at the that were just summoned. "Do you know what you've done?! Centuries of work, gone! Wasted, because of you!"

The two he was shouting at didn't give him any face as they examined their bodies. Both were men in their early to mid-twenties and had intricate horns growing from their temples but that was where the similarities ended. One was covered in golden robes, had golden eyes and long golden hair. A thin but sharp face complemented his features while his horns resembled antlers. The other was covered in dark violet robes, had violet eyes and short violet hair. He had a gaunt face that was almost skeletal and his horns protruded from his forehead in segmented spirals.

???: "Annoying..." The violet one muttered and with a snap of his fingers shut the Grimm King up.

???: "Come now, he's the one who brought us back." The golden one spoke. "Think of him like a gnat and let it be."

???: "Please Brother, we both know he was just a pawn." The Violet one scoffed.

???: "Shall we continue with the plan then, Nox?" The golden one sighed at his brother's attitude.

Nox: "The faster we complete this unnecessary chore, we can get back to reclaiming what's rightfully ours." Nox commented. "So, yes Lux. We should."

Logan sighed as he waited for the elevator to reach Ozipn's office. Having just got back from the mission, Logan had accompanied the mission lead along with Team CVFY to see Ozpin about the mission and their discovery. Mainly because he had lied about one of his findings in his field autopsy, there was magic used to make those bandits into puppets. Something that made him worried.

It didn't take long for the elevator to reach Ozpin's office, and when it did they found that Ozpin was in the middle of a conference call with the other Kingdoms. Logan, see how the others were reacting to almost interrupting something important, took the reports and sent them on their way so they wouldn't have to deal with any sort of fallout for it. They quietly thanked him and left as fast as they could, not surprising Logan in the least. As Logan rolled his eyes, he heard a couching noise come from behind him.

Logan: "Excuse me for interrupting, I wasn't aware that the CCT has been fully repaired." Logan commented as he walked forward.

Ozpin: "Understandable Mr. Scarlett." Ozpin spoke. "We have just finished planning in case of a similar attack. Be it on Vale or elsewhere."

Logan: "I understand." Logan slightly bowed his head, knowing that this wasn't the time or place to act like a fool. "Should I come back later?"

Atlas representative: "Unneeded, we were just finishing discussing and signing off." The Atlas representative before all the screens turned black with red letters saying 'Call Ended'.

Ozpin: "Rude." Ozpin joked then sighed deeply. "Sorry about that. They've been on edge ever since the CCT signal from Vale disappeared. Fearing the worst, they all but closed down their borders and increased their forces all they could fearing they would be next."

Logan: "What about Atlas?" Logan asked. "I know that the people of Menagerie will be out for blood as soon as they heard what happened. And so far, Atlas is the only one with the ability to make and pilot them."

Ozpin: "I had asked." OZpin spoke, knowing Logan won't like what was next. "Several of Atlas's factories were attacked as well. One of them housed Mantas that were thought to be destroyed, but after hearing of the attack on Menagerie's ships they were now classified as stolen. Their in-built tracking chips were disabled or removed and haven't yet been found."

Logan: "Great..." Logan grumbled. "Anything new?"

The look on Ozpin's face said it all. Logan sighed for what he felt was the millionth time that day and excused himself after handing the reports over and explaining about the bandits. Having had enough for one day, Logan made his way back to his dorm and cuddled with Glynda after making the two of them something to eat.

Jaune: "I wonder how Logan's doing?" Jaune wondered aloud as he sturred a pot of soup meant for the displaced Vale residents.

Ruby: "Why the sudden curiosity?" Ruby asked as she handed off a bowl.

Yang: "Yea?" Yang commented as she passed a bowl out herself.

Pyrrha: "I'm sure he's doing just fine." Pyrrha spoke from where she was chopping vegetables. "Hey Ren, I need more carrots."

Ren: "Catch!" Ren called as a bundle of carrots flew through the air which Pyrrha easily caught.

Jaune: "Well, it's just we haven't spoken to him in months." Jaune explained. "The most any one of us has seen of him are just passing glances in the crowds. After how he went 'god mode' during the siege, I wonder if he's okay."

Nora: "*Burp* Knowing him, he's out there kicking Gimm buŧŧ like there's no tomorrow!" Nora shouted.

Ren: "Nora, please stop eating the soup!" Ren scolded.

Nora: "I didn't!"

Blake: "She drank all the syrup again!" Blake informed them.

Jaune: "Nora, no pancakes for a week!" Jaune yelled out her punishment which outcries of outrage and despair. "Weiss, can you please see if we have any left in stock?"

Weiss: "No problem, we got a few crates left." Weiss called out from the back. "Though I don't know if we'll lat the week though. We might have to see if there is any left in the bunkers. If not, we got to see about imports."

Jaune: "Can someone remind me why we are doing this again?" Jaune grumbled to himself.

Ruby: "We were voluntold."

Jaune: "That it!" Jaune said sarcasiticly.

Coco: "Hey guys!" Coco yelled out as she and her team got close to the food tent where RWBY and JNPR were. "How's it hanging?"

Ruby: "Hey Coco!" Ruby shouted in happiness as she sped over to her and her team and hugged Coco.

Coco: "Seriously, I think I might get a sugar-high from your energy." Coco commented sarcastically as she patted Ruby's head.

Ruby: "I'm not that bad." Ruby pouted as she let the girl go.

All: "You are!" Everyone else yelled while Velvet just shyly nodded her head.

Soon after, they all had a good laugh, and RWBY and JNPR got back to work as they chatted with Team CVFY. They ended up hearing how Logan had been basically forced to do paperwork and handle day-to-day affairs. Only getting the chance to leave and do a mission after he had gotten his aura back, something they were surprised to find out about. They were concerned about how the mission had ended, to them a semblance that could control people and the dead was nightmare-inducing.

Jaune: "Fighting what was basically zombies." Jaune shuttered. "That's hell. No other name for it."

Yang: "It's one thing in a video game, another in real life." Yang spoke. "Usually, I would be all for it. But what you guys experienced, I'd rather be anywhere else."

Velvet: "It wasn't that bad." Velvet spoke up, getting weird looks. "With how fast Logan took charge and gave out orders, it could have been a whole lot worse."

Fox: "She does have a point." Fox said in Velvet's defense. "With how the fight started, those that were close-range fighters couldn't really help."

Then ended up talking through the entire shift that Teams RWBY and JNPR had for the soup kitchen and left right after. They ended up passing the rest of the day just relaxing and talking about random things. Doing their best to keep their minds off fighting zombies and other horrors.

Logan paced back and forth as he waited in the emergency room. His family had basically decided to stay until Glynda gave birth which wouldn't be long now, in the next month or so. But tragedy had struck and Logan got a call from his mother that his sister had been in an accident. Logan all but blew a hole in several walls to get to the hospital fast enough. By the time he for there, they were in surgery.

From what his mother told him, they were on the way to deliver food for those working to repair the residential district of Vale for his father and other workers. As his father and the other workers were busy repairing an apartment complex, they arrived with several boxes worth of cooked food. As they were distributing everyone's portions, a crane had knocked over a pile of steel beams onto them. Ava and Eva had reacted first and got everyone away but as they went to get the last one, they ran out of time and threw the last person. Taking the majority of the steel beams with their aura, but the last few broke it and they almost became paste. It was only thanks to a Huntress that was on stand-by with a healing semblance that they managed to get them to the hospital.

From what doctors told his mother, they were lucky to have survived in the first place. The beams should have flattened them, and the chances of them succumbing to internal bleeding were high. Currently, they were in surgery to increase their chances of survival. Logan and this hospital had history, that being they know of his [Phoenix Down] ability. Logan got in touch with the Head Doctor and she permitted Logan to use that ability after they got out of surgery since neither of them wanted it to be made public.. All Logan had to do now was to wait.
