Naruto - A Cursed System

Chapter 42 - Wiggles

Soon, Yukio got kicked out of the dungeon.

He was happy to find that the fish Fly Head was still in his hand! With this new knowledge, Yukio could finally see his dream come to fruition; building a cursed garden, cursed zoo, and a cursed aquarium!

He headed back to the hut. When he arrived back home, he placed the gradeless fish curse into the lake and watched it peacefully swim about.

Until Hex came out of nowhere and shredded it up.

"..."

Seeing that its beloved owner was nearby, Hex crawled to him and showed Yukio its underside. It looked at Yukio with eyes filled with yearning as it tried to persuade Yukio into scratching it.

"The next time you kill the creatures I bring in, I will eat you," Yukio warned warmingly as he began scratching Hex. The centipede immediately nodded as it looked at Yukio with fear. Ever since it was born, Hex was always scared of Yukio. It didn't know why, nor did it try to figure out why.

After the scratching session was over, Hex lazily slipped into the lake and seemingly fell asleep.

'I wonder if there's a cursed tool camera that lets me take pictures of curses. It would be nice. Maybe I can try learning how to create cursed tools?'

While he figured out whether or not if it was possible to create cursed tools without any help, Yukio went inside the hot and took out three small bowls. He filled them up with dirt and took out three cursed seeds from out of the system.

He placed each seed inside separate bowls and moved them somewhere near the hut in a place where they wouldn't drown from the rain. He didn't know if that would affect the growing process, but he didn't want to risk it. Though, he did have spare seeds to try it out.

The three cursed seeds he had planted had different negative attributes:

The first seed he had planted came from an emaciated mummy grade four curse. It was a seed that had the negative attributes of rainfall and starvation.

The second seed belonged to the grade three curse that he had just exorcised; the worm that could make hands and cast jutsu. It had the sole attribute of worms.

Out of the three cursed seeds, the last seed originated from a dungeon he had formed in the JJK world. It was a grade four cursed spirit that had the sole attribute of thievery.

Asides from the first two, Yukio was curious how long it would take for the third seed to grow. The hut was located a bit far from the nearest village (Amegakure). The distance between the village and the hut would affect the seed's growth speed. It might take more than a week, but it shouldn't take too much time.

After he planted them, Yukio went inside and began doing chores and indoor training. As usual, he also wrote in his diary.

A week passed and Yukio was squatting right by the plant bowls. Two of them were fully grown and were about to bloom. The third pot was still growing.

Nagato was watching Yukio's weird actions from a distance. Ever since Yukio planted the seeds, Nagato had bȧrėly noticed their peculiarity. The potted plants reminded him of the thing that usually hangs around Yukio.

He didn't try to interfere since it was Yukio's business, but he was concerned for the safety of their loved ones. He could tell that only he and Yukio were aware of the creatures' existences, yet Yukio seemed to be more aware.

Just in case something went wrong, he kept watch.

Each potted plant looked different from the rest.

The bowl with the rain-starved cursed seed now resembled a light pink venus flytrap. On the 'head' of the flytrap was a flower that had yet to bloom.

The second bowl with the worm cursed seed had the tallest plant. It was tall enough to reach Yukio's knees. It was entirely green and looked like a giant closed pea pod.

The day prior, Yahiko had nearly plucked the worm plant as he had mistaken it for food that Yukio was growing. If it weren't for Yukio noticing it by the nick of time, Yahiko would've had it made for a meal.

As for the last one, it just looked like a generic flower that was still growing up.

"Finally..."

Now that the cursed plants had finished growing, Yukio could now see the cursed spirits born from them.

The first one was just as he feared, it was basically a mini version of the mummy cursed spirit. Without hesitation, he fed it to Hex who was nearby. It was here out of curiosity, and not because it was hungry.

As for the worm plant, it reminded Yukio of freshly grown corn. But, the corn was replaced with a worm cursed spirit. The moment it was free from its green pea confines, it looked at Yukio and Hex for a brief moment before it tried to dig underground.

Unfortunately for it, Yukio caught it and began poking it with his finger. It felt uncomfortable to touch. It was like he was touching slime.

After some convincing words, Yukio tamed it. How did he know he tamed it? It was thanks to [Intermediate Taming]'s new effect. Yukio could now track its location and status.

Speaking of the skill's tracking feature, Yukio found that the creatures he had attempted to bring to the Naruto World were grayed out in the system. It didn't explicitly say they were dead, so he wasn't sure what had happened to them.

"Hm, what should I name you? You are going to be the first official zoo cursed spirit, so I won't take you anywhere. How about I call you... Wiggles? I can see it now. In the future, the children who go to my zoo will adore you."

'I just gotta figure out how I could let non-sorcerers see you. Maybe I can cast a genjutsu on all of them when they entered, letting them see it.'

After the naming ceremony, he allowed the worm to freely roam around. He had Hex watch over it to make sure that it wouldn't hurt people.

When Wiggles and Hex disappeared from Yukio's sight, he turned around to look at the plants that were left behind. There was nothing left of the plant that Wiggles came from. But the venus flytrap was still alive and kicking.

Yukio's eyes glowed as he thought about his cursed garden idea.
