Naruto - A Cursed System

Chapter 41 - Cursed Dungeon... Again!

A few days had passed since Yukio had returned home. He spent most of the time going with Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato back to Amegakure to help the citizens out.

On one trip, they managed to arrive at Yukio's house only for them to find it destroyed and in ruins. Fortunately, Yukio was able to search for the letter Jiraiya made and secretly destroyed it.

Yukio was alone today and decided that he test out a grade three cursed dungeon. He went to the place that he first formed a cursed dungeon.

Using his innate technique, a skeleton key and a wooden door appeared in his hand and in front of him respectively. He put the key inside the lock and was asked the same old question.

<hOW mUCH?>

'Just enough for a grade three dungeon.'

Like the many times, he had done this, negativity flew right past him, and was absorbed by the dungeon. Cracks started to appear on the door, but not as many cracks compared to a grade four dungeon's door. The wood also looked shinier.

Yukio pushed the door open and entered the eternal darkness.

=====

The first thing Yukio noticed was the heavy rain falling from the dark, ominous clouds above. Although it was dark, Yukio didn't have a hard time seeing.

Asides from the new weather addition, he was on a tiny island that is surrounded by a lake. There wasn't just one island, he saw many smaller ones darted across the lake. Some of them had a figure standing on them.

Unlike last time, there was no land directly underneath the water. He could tell that there was land, but the water would reach his neck if he tried walking through the water. He could only rely on his chakra to travel across the lake and to each island.

He also noticed that there was another type of local fauna excluding the gradeless dragonflies than last time. From time to time, there were Fly Heads that resembled fishes swimming in the lake. However, they seem very timid and would run away at the slightest ripple.

Off in the distance, instead of muddy walls, there were large, crowded trees that bordered the lake. Yukio didn't try to enter the forest as he knew that the forest itself was the border of the dungeon.

'There's going to be multiple grade four curses? Would a grade two dungeon house several grade three curses?'

Putting the questions to the back of his mind, Yukio silently made his way to the nearest island that had a figure on it. As he made his way, he silently prayed that he wouldn't get sick from the rain.

Eventually, he was close enough to identify the figure on one of the islands. It was a similar-looking cursed spirit that he had fought when he formed a grade four dungeon for the first time.

He began hiding and snuck up behind the spirit to closely examine it. It kept repeatedly telling the rain to go away. It looked as emaciated as a mummy, like the first one, but it had a green skin tone. He quickly exorcised it and looked for the boss curse.

He soon found five more of them that came in different colors. One of them even dropped a seed which he stashed away.

He also caught a fish Fly Head. It had buck teeth along with human teeth. It had human-like eyes. He found that it could also breathe out of the water and theoretically survive on land. He caught several more and saw that they came in different colors and patterns.

'Cursed aquarium...'

He continued fishing for the fish Fly Heads when he felt the ground slightly tremble. He ditched the fishes on an island and sprinted onto the lake.

As he continued fishing for bucked teeth curses, he felt the ground tremble. Ditching the fish, he sprinted onto the lake and turned around.

Piercing from below the surface of the island was a worm. The fish that Yukio left behind were quickly devoured by it. The moment his eyes laid upon the worm, Yukio guessed that it was the boss.

The worm was twice his height. It could swallow him whole without much difficulty.

At first glance, it didn't even look cool or would make a good first impression. However, Yukio noticed that the skin of the curse would sometimes have human hands appear out of it.

Yukio didn't know why, but that feature reminded him of a character from a pirate anime he had watched. She had this cool, yet weird power to manifest hands.

Focusing on the task at hand, Yukio threw a shuriken at the curse to test its defense. A pair of hands appear and tried to grab it, but the shuriken flew past and wounded them before disappearing inside the curse's body.

*KRRAAAA*

'Ooh, it's angry now. I should finish this quickly. Should I use the Batto Sword Drawing? It doesn't have a good defense, so I can easily cut it in ha- Huh? What the...'

He easily evaded the attack and began thinking. He knew what had seen. The worm was using chakra and was capable of forming hand signs to cast jutsu.

Yukio took out several shurikens and imbued them with his cursed energy. His strength stat determined his offensive ability, which could be seen from the first shuriken he had thrown. However, asides from that, his cursed energy became more effective as his strength stat increased.

When he threw the cursed energy-infused shurikens, they disappeared into the curse's flesh and reappeared on the other side, leaving behind three see-through holes. Although this attack did damage the curse greatly, it also angered it.

Yukio prepared for his next attack as he saw the worm preparing another jutsu. He appeared right next to the worm. The worm had noticed his close position and hands appeared in front of Yukio, trying to reach out for him.

He ignored them and prepared to attack with the Batto Sword Drawing technique. He imbued his sword with cursed energy and created a simple domain out of his cursed energy. Since he was already so close to it, he didn't need to wait for it to get closer and immediately sliced through it like buŧŧer.

Not only did his attack stun the curse from finishing its jutsu, but it was also the last attack Yukio needed to exorcise it. He was able to separate the curse in two.

As he put away the sword, he mumbled, "I should really look for a weapon to main. Something that makes it easier to bring people inside my dungeon. Mm... that sounds kinky. Focus! Maybe chains? But how would that work? What about a bo staff or spear? Maybe I can just be an all-rounder?"

As for Yukio's bow, Yukio wasn't able to bring it to the expedition. Hex had accidentally slept on it and crushed it the day before.

The upper half of the curse fell into the lake and dissipated into nothingness. A seed fell from it's disintegrated corpse which Yukio picked up and placed inside his system.

'Chakra.'

He saw his chakra gauge increase by a hundred, which was a pleasant surprise. He grabbed a fish that was still alive and started reflecting on what he had found out while he was waiting to get kicked.

'Grade four dungeons create a curse that has chakra, but can't use it. A grade three dungeon creates a curse that can use chakra and be able to cast jutsus.'

'Although it wasn't able to hit me once, I probably would have gotten injured. But then again, my vitality stat was also high. I wonder what higher-grade dungeons would be like. Would the bosses be able to use stronger chakra-fueled attacks? Possess innate techniques? Hm.....'
