Ning Youyou was quite exhausted by the time she reached the scene.

She could barely run another step. Thankfully, someone was kind enough to lend her a helping hand. However, she became shocked when she finally had a good look at the kind-hearted man.

Mu?

His name crossed her mind while she was still trying to make sense of the remarkable coincidence.

“Mr. Mu!” She walked towards him in bewilderment, for she could not think of any reason for him to be here at all.

Mu Shaoqing took a brief look at her before handing over the phone.

“All yours.”

“Thank you!”

Ning Youyou grasped the phone and instantly saw the crack on the screen. She held it dearly in her hand, feeling rather sorry. In fact, the phone was an item of sentimental value, for it did not come easy. She had to save all of the money that she had made from working part-time jobs in order to afford one. Looking at the crack, she was not sure if the screen could still be fixed.

Mu Shaoqing could not hide his displeasure when he noticed how much she actually cared for the phone.

“What makes a cracked phone so special? Is it a gift from your boyfriend?”

Smilingly, Ning Youyou denied his assumption, “No, it’s not, though it does really mean a lot to me.”

Mu Shaoqing was delighted by her answer, but before he could say anything more, a loud siren from the police came interrupting.

A police car stopped by to check on them. Once the policeman saw the man on the ground, he went straight up the Ning Youyou and Mu Shaoqing to enquire about the incident.

“Someone called the police and reported a robbery. Was it you?”

Ning Youyou answered with a nod, “That’s correct.”

The policeman glanced at the two of them before fixing his eyes on the robber, who was already paralyzed with fright.

“I will have to ask both of you to come with me to make a verbal report at the station.” The policeman then walked away and picked up the man from the ground with a cuff.

After being told about going to the police station, Ning Youyou cast a secretive glance at the man next to her. He had been a great help to her, so it would be inappropriate to delay him any longer.

“Hey, thank you for helping me. I can go alone for the report. Please don’t let me take up any more of your time.”

Mu Shaoqing answered her right away with firm assurance, “That’s fine. I have time.”

Ning Youyou was obviously caught off guard by his kind offer. Mu Shaoqing merely responded with a smile.

After putting the robber into the police car, the policeman then signaled them to come along.

“Excuse me,” Mu Shaoqing said before walking away to the limo.

He stopped by the car and said something to the driver through the window. Soon, the car started its engine and drove away.

Stupefied, Ning Youyou watched as the Rolls Royce disappeared before her eyes. The last time she saw him, he was standing among the executives from Zhou Feng Corporation. Judging from the luxurious vehicle, it was reasonable for her to assume that there must be someone of great power sitting in it.

Could he be a bodyguard to an executive of the corporation?

If that were the case, had he met the chairman of Zhou Feng, the man who was praised for being a godlike figure?

The voice of a man interrupted her preoccupation.

“Let’s go.”

Ning Youyou looked at Mu Shaoqing and nodded as she walked with him towards the police car.

By the time they were done, it was already 11 p.m.

The robber insisted that his arm was hurt and that he wanted to sue Mu Shaoqing for the intentional assault. Mu Shaoqing’s patience was very soon worn off, so he proceeded to make a call, which turned out to be effective. The robber was then put behind bars almost instantly. The chief policeman even showed up to send them off personally.

Ning Youyou could not help but admire the control that he had exerted under such circumstances. She could already feel pressured just by being next to him.

She thought, however, that a bodyguard needed to have control; otherwise, his job would be very tough.

Nonetheless, for a man like him, being a bodyguard seemed like a job that was unworthy of his talents. He obviously deserved better.
