89. Ridicule

Du Chuxuan was a bit surprised. At this hour, the Turkic Envoys weren’t allowed to wander around in the capital, so when one of them escaped the guards and left the palace, there must be a skeleton in his closet that he was going for. Instantly, Du Chuxuan gave Luo Yi a gesture, which Luo Yi understood readily.

Yuxing Tianrui also understood what they were doing, but he hadn’t seen the Turkic Envoy in the first place and, seeing Du Chuxuan didn’t talk to him, he, annoyed, should unreasonably begin to be jealous of Luo Yi and sit alone in the corner in greater silence.

The two remained in such a queer atmosphere all alogn the way until they arrived at the East Palace. Yuxing Tianrui, being tsundere again, took Ada right to the study, but he didn’t know that this reaction made Du Chuxuan even more annoyed.

“Your Highness, you really—” Dongxiang for a moment couldn’t find a proper word to describe him. In point of fact, the Zhao family’s marriage request shouldn’t be blamed on His Highness, yet Her Highness was obsessed in blaming him, who was already very aggrieved by not defending himself.

Yet, Dongxiang didn’t say anything at last. Du Chuxuan made a snort and drew a book from the shelf, intending to kill the time, when on a sudden a thin booklet dropped out of the book.

Dongxiang was clever and seeing something drop off, quickly picked it up for Du Chuxuan. However, at the glimpse of the pictures on it, he instantly flushed violently. Du Chuxuan was confused. On the shelf were all Yuxing Tianrui’s books, which Du Chuxuan seldom read, so he wondered what Dongxiang had seen to be like this.

They stood near each other, so with a slight turn of head, Du Chuxuan saw what was in Dongxiang’s hand and at once burst out laughing, “I knew he was such a person who secretly read such things. His mind isn’t innocent at all, but his ears still flushed at the slightest molesting.”

Du Chuxuan never avoided this subject and quickly took over to read carefully. There were obvious traces left by Yuxing Tianrui, who had a little habit of making notes on the page edge when he read. Although this kind of book made him flush, the habit remained the same.

Reading page after page, Du Chuxuan felt his annoyance disappeared. He flickered the thing in his hand, “Later before dinner, go to the study and tell His Highness, come back to our room, after all the study isn’t as comfortable as the main room.”

Giving this order, he walked inside of the room with the book. This time, he finally caught the mute gourd. Let us see whether he dared to have the evil peach blossoms again. Not, not just the evil ones, the good ones were also out of the question.

Yuxing Tianrui was also in a great dismay when he entered the study. He had been at first warned by Jiudengdan in a roundabout way and then today Du Chuxuan had treated him indifferently. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, but sitting here for quite a while, and he just stared at the documents without really reading them. This wasn’t like him at all.

Ada stood in the corner, trying to shrink himself as he possibly could. Therefore, notwithstanding His Highness’s unparalleled cleverness, sometimes a smart person did stupid things. It was so obvious that with a few sweet words, Her Highness would be fine. Couldn’t His Highness be thinking that an unforgiving person like Her Highness would let it go easily?

However, this time, Ada was wrong in predicting Du Chuxuan’s changeable temper. Here came a maidservant with the news, and Yuxing Tianrui sprang up from the seat, walking out in long strides, very much like a concubine who was finally granted with the grace of being taken by an emperor.

Yet, Ada could only roast inwardly. He followed Yuxing Tianrui back to the room, when someone requested an audience of the Prince, and it was exactly the one who had caused the discord between the couple.

Du Chuxuan raised his eyebrows, not understanding the motive of Zhao Zheng’s act. Now the rumors were rampant on streets and valleys. At this point of time, if Zhao Zheng was a smart person, she should either try to put down the rumors or just sit still doing nothing so as not to cause herself more troubles.

However, her showing up to meet Yuxing Tianrui at this time was either because her brain was squeezed in the door or because she had another unspeakable intention. Thinking of this, he took a playful glance at Yuxing Tianrui, “Your Highness has such a great peach blossom. The palace gate is about to shut, and I’m afraid Miss. Zhao can’t go back home tonight.”

By a couple of sentences, Du Chuxuan made explicit the woman’s scheming thoughts to Yuxing Tianrui. Yet, it wasn’t his business whether this man would listen or not.

Anyway, he already had a full meal, turned around and lay on the couch, with an air all around him of not-coming-near. Yuxing Tianrui, at the side, was also very upset. He had finally sensed that Du Chuxuan was less angry, but now, the winter hadn’t receded yet, the storm was launched again.

Yuxing Tianrui swallowed all the rage and walked to the lobby, seeing Zhao Zheng, though properly-dressed, all crying and weeping. Zhao Zheng had a good-looking face and now with the special effort she had made, her well-shaped figure was revealed fully by the light-pink dress and waistcoat.

“Your Highness, you come out finally. If you don’t meet me, I really don’t know what to do in the future.” After all Zhao Zheng was a lady cultivated by the Zhao family. Now, making a little bow to Yuxing Tianrui, she managed to maintain the tears in her eyes in a posture that anyone would pity her at the scene.

Yuxing Tianrui was stunned for a moment and unconsciously frowned, “What’re you dong, Miss. Zhao?” He had already been irritated by what the Zhao family had done the other day during the morning session. It was alright if Zhao Zheng didn’t know it, because he would never take it out on a woman.

Zhao Zheng chilled a little at the sight of Yuxing Tianrui’s impatient expression. She just couldn’t believe that Yuxing Tianrui had not the slightest feeling towards her, “Brother Tianrui, do you remember when we were little, you told me that you would become the most powerful man in Shenglan and protect me from anyone who tried to bully me?”

She said it slowly, as if she aimed to wake up some part of his memory. Yuxing Tianrui heard that and did recalled such a promise.

“Miss. Zhao must be kidding. Now the Zhao family is one of the greatest families in Shenglan. How would it allow you to be bullied?”
