88. Du Chuxuan’s Avoidance

“No, it’s not shocking enough.” Du Chuxuan shook his head and vetoed the idea. The commoners liked gossips, and the more forbidden it was of the imperial family, the faster they spread it, “Let it be Miss. Zhao falling in love with the Turkic Envoy at first sight so that the Zhao family made the request to let her marry Yuxing Tianrui.”

The words made Luo Yi’s eyes shining. He had thought that Her Highness wasn’t sad about it, now it seemed that it wasn’t that she didn’t care but had been overwhelmed by it and unable to react. Now, he could give a satisfying reply to Ada.

He responded quickly and got down to arranging it. Dongxiang, totally confused, stood in front of Du Chuxuan, “Why did you say that, Your Highness?” Dongxiang hadn’t attended the banquet, but he knew that Miss Zhao must like His Highness. How could she possibly choose the Turkic Envoy over him?

Du Chuxuan finally felt more comfortable seeing Dongxiang’s foolish look, “The Zhao family wishes to leverage on the commoners’ mouth to make it happen, then I should do it a turn. I’m just wondering how they will take it when they finally learn the news.” He touched the jade ring on his finger and had a wicked smile on his lips.

The look of him gave Dongxiang a shiver. Could he say that Her Highness suddenly become very terrifying?

In the palace, Yuxing Tianrui finally came out of the imperial study and as soon as he reached the East Palace, he saw Jiu Dengdan rushing out furiously, “Where did you send my baby disciple?”

Previously, Jiu Dengdan and Ada had a good fight until both of them enjoyed it to the full. However, Jiu Dengdan drank habitually and after the fight suffered adverse reactions physically. Thus, these days, he had been well-received with good food and wine and almost forgot that he had a disciple called Du Chuxuan. Today, the news made him rush out with rage.

Yuxing Tianrui was annoyed already, because earlier today he failed to set people up and was framed up by others, which gave him a terrible dismay. Hadn’t the man been Jiu Dengdan, Du Chuxuan’s shifu, he might have just thrown him out, “Sir, it’s better not to ask more.”

Seeing Yuxing Tianrui march into the room also with rage, Jiu Dengdan shook his head, “Boy, don’t say that I didn’t remind you. Now you’re in a dangerous situation. If you are unable to protect him, I’ll certainly take him away. I guess you know the name of mine in Wulin. I can go to the ends of the earth, where you can never find me.”

His remark forced Yuxing Tianrui to pause his step in a brief astonishment. In an instant, the news about the Morning Star sent by Luo Yi earlier occurred to him. He frowned a little and turned to look at Jiu Dengdan, “No matter what, I won’t let him get injured anymore! And you, don’t ever think of taking him away from me, at any rate.”

After saying this, Yuxing Tianrui left with Ada right away, not caring to take a look at Jiu Dengdan’s reaction. Jiu Dengdan stood where he was, surprised that this young boy already had something of what it took to be a great emperor. Yet, it was still a puzzle whether it could support him to that position.

“Your Highness, should we watch on the third prince?” Ada asked the question after some hesitation. Luo Yi had once advised to dispatch more people over there but stopped by Yuxing Tianrui.

Yuxing Tianrui shook his head, “If the Morning Star really has the ability to compete with me, then I’ll let him see how he will end up a dim lightless one. Father still values family relations very much, and I’m afraid if I take actions at this time, he will have disapproval.”

For a time, the entire imperial city seemed to be shrouded in huge waves, where everyone seemed to be reaching out and stay motionless at the same time. It was a truly chaotic situation behind a mist which the eye couldn’t pierce to see the result.

Du Chuxuan stayed at home for three days when he absence from the palace began to be improper. He planned to go back this afternoon, and to his surprise, the moment he alighted the carriage, he saw Yuxing Tianrui sitting upright and reviewing some documents in there.

“Finally my princess knows she had to go back to the palace. I thought you were mad because of that thing.” Yuxing Tianrui had a smile on his lips. Since he heard the gossip spreading among commoners, he knew that Du Chuxuan had taken actions.

Du Chuxuan didn’t care to take much about that and found a comfortable place to sit down, “I heard there will be a banquet in the palace. I guess this time the Emperor has made up his mind. Is he going to announce the result by then?”

Yuxing Tianrui nodded without denying. The purpose of the Turks was the marriage, so whether the imperial family was willing to or not, they had to select a princess for it. It wasn’t because Shenglan feared wars, but because that Yuxing Tianrui could spare no time now.

Du Chuxuan was naturally happy as he got the answer he wanted. The carriage went on, and he couldn’t help lifting the curtain to take more glances at the streets. He knew not when would be the last time he had a chance to come out. Just as he was about to stop the carriage and send a person to buy some cakes, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure.

“That man—” His words didn’t finish yet, and the man was out of sight. If his memory didn’t fail him, where the man had disappeared seemed to be a residential area.

“What’s wrong?” Yuxing Tianrui put down the papers in his hand. He didn’t see anyone but only saw a cake shop following Du Chuxuan’s eyes and thought he wanted to eat something.

“Luo Yi, go in that direction and search the house one by one to see whether it’s the Turkic Envoy.” Du Chuxuan didn’t answered Yuxing Tianrui and directly ordered Luo Yi.

After Luo Yi left, Yuxing Tianrui couldn’t help asking, “The Turkic Envoy? Which one? You mean Mr. Ru?”

“Why Your Highness has so many questions? I just glanced at it, and maybe I was wrong. Besides, aren’t the Turkic Envoys accommodated at the courier station? Is it necessary for them to come to this place?”

Du Chuxuan returned indifferently and then urged Dongxiang to buy some cakes. Yuxing Tiarnui sat there and watched Du Chuxuan treating him in the cold attitude since he alighted the carriage, suddenly having a grievance. He no longer wanted to talk with him and turned back to the papers.

Luo Yi was fast and came back before the carriage reached the palace gate, “You are right, master. That man is indeed one of the Turkic Envoys, but he isn’t Mr. Ru, yet he seems of high status.”

Du Chuxuan nodded. He always had a good memory which enabled him to remember a person’s features after one encounter, especially when the Turks had very different facial features from Shenglan people.
