32. What Are You Doing, Your Highness?

The tealeaves coming suddenly scared everyone. The first one to understand were those who followed Ashina Yi all year round. Discovering Ashina Yi’s expression, they struggled to stop their movements.

In this split second, Du Chuxuan quickly reacted, trying his best to get up and desperately running out. Not that he didn’t want to save Ada, but because he really didn’t have any more strength for that. There remained in his mind one single thought, that was to rush out and live.

Coincidentally, he was running in the direction where Yuxing Tianrui had escaped. Anyway, he didn’t have much strength left and could only automatically run forward as the last thought in his mind told him.

When Yuxing Tianrui stopped, he could no longer hear the sound of yelling and killing. He leaned on a stone to take a rest. Somehow, the scene where Du Chuxuan pushing him out of the siege began to replay in his mind.

Since he had memory, he had been saved countless times. However, neither the imperial guards in the palace, nor Ada who followed him all the time, nor even the servant girl who once protected him from a shooting dagger with her own body, touched him more than today.

He subconsciously touched his chest. Just now, if the saber had cut into his body instead of Du Chuxuan, he would die. But they were all human made of flesh and blood. She must be very painful now. Would she get out?

In an instant, many thoughts flashed in his mind. With anxiety, he wanted to walk back.

He, Yuxing Tianrui, wasn’t a coward.

The failure was caused by his wrong command. Therefore, he deserved to die on the battlefield, like those great men who shed blood there. He had no reason to escape alone!

Yet, before he got on his feet, he coughed heavily due to his violent movement. After a long while, he sighed and sat back, the dissatisfaction against himself obvious in his dark eyes.

Time flies. Du Chuxuan didn’t know how long he had run. Basically, he alternately stood up to run for a while and lay on the ground when he ran out of energy. All supported him was a belief to live.

But at this moment he had another belief, that was to find the old man and let him teach his good disciple some good lessons. Why didn’t he just enjoy being a prince but thought about how to kill his sect-brother?!

The sky was getting darker and there seemed to be no sound of people chasing after him, so Du Chuxuan found a piece of relatively soft grassland and lay on it, completely relaxed and passed out.

It was when Yuxing Tianrui walked back that he spotted Du Chuxuan on the grassland. Seeing his princess covered with blood and remembering how a clean person turned into this all for him, Yuxing Tianrui felt an immediate stab of heartache.

Gritting his teeth and enduring the pain, he stepped forward and struggled to carry up the person. He was about to check Du Chuxuan’s wound, when there was sound of a few soldiers catching up, so in a fluster, he cautiously took her to get on a byway and ran.

The chasers’ story should go back to when Du Chuxuan had just fled. Ashina Yi was poisoned by Yuxing Tianrui and fought hard to stay sober. Seeing Du Chuxuan ran away, he was rested assured and at once passed out.

The people around were all Ashina Yi’s close guards. When he passed out, they didn’t have the intention to see where the two men had gone and rushed to Ashina Yi to check on him.

The battle just ended in such a hasty way. Shenglan Army suffered a great loss, but the generals and soldiers didn’t know yet that their Crown Prince had disappeared and retreated.

Ashina Yi wasn’t necessarily lucky to survive. Actually, Yuxing Tianrui hadn’t planned to kill him at all. Therefore, the poison used on him was merely something making people uncomfortable but not fatal. A slightly famous doctor was able to cure it soon. By dawn, when Ashina Yi woke up, the first thing he did was ordering people to find Du Chuxuan.

He remembered that Du Chuxuan was seriously injured when he escaped. In the wilderness, if Du Chuxuan was eaten by wild tigers or leopards, his head wouldn’t be enough for their shifu to cut off for eighteen times.

Although Du Chuxuan was lazy, he was the apple of the eye of their shifu. At this moment, Ashina Yi didn’t want to admit that he worried about Du Chuxuan.

Yuxing Tianrui was fortunate as always. Soon after he took on the byway, he saw a cave that he accidentally stumbled his way into.

As the voice of searching getting closer and closer, Yuxing Tianrui hurriedly took Du Chuxuan to hide in and then stuffed the entrance with grass and branches to make it more covert.

After two exceedingly hard hours the searching sound finally died away and he was able to breathe a sigh of relief. They finally survived this.

Now it was late at night, with no sound around at all, expect for the occasional cricket cries.

Yuxing Tianrui gazed down at Du Chuxuan and his eyes turned bleak immediately. This person was tall and dressed in white. Now with jarring bleeding cuts here and there on her body, she seemed like a broken flower, making people feel sorry for her.

He reached out to feel Du Chuxuan’s forehead and was taken aback by the frightening heat. Needless to say, it must be so because of the wounds that hadn’t been treated with for a long time. Yuxing Tianrui hesitated for a long time and still couldn’t convince himself to take off her clothes.

“We’re a married couple, and I’m just trying to save her!” Yuxing Tianrui hesitated and chanted the mantra to himself. Nonetheless, every time his hand was going to touch Du Chuxuan’s belt, he couldn’t help taking it back.

Du Chuxuan happened to frown and groan in pain, instantly scaring Yuxing Tianrui to sit up, back straight, lest she might misunderstand.

Du Chuxuan had a terrible fever, but his psyche was pulled tense. Therefore, soon after he passed out, he forced himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he saw was Yuxing Tianrui sitting square next to him.

“What are you doing, Your Highness?” He turned slightly to glance around. It was dim. But for the faint light from outside, he would have thought that Yuxing Tianrui really locked him in a dark cellar. After all, this was what Du Chuxuan believed Yuxing Tianrui would do all the time.
