Chapter 15 Celebration

When Du Chuxuan was found, it was in the evening. The sky was getting dark, and the searching squad looked in great discomfiture from hiding away from the spies left by Ashina Yi.

Originally, they had planned to circle around the lake as their last try, but they were surprised to see Du Chuxuan sitting carefree and leisurely roasting a wild chicken.

In the eyes of these soldiers, the Crown Princess had been a simple princess. If she was a virtuous woman, she could set up a role model and help the whole country in heading for prosperity.

However, unexpectedly, Du Chuxuan had risked his life to save the rest of them. She had completed in an emergency something that even men were unable to.

Therefore, when they saw Du Chuxuan again sitting there safe and sound, they almost burst into tears of joy. At once, they rushed over, “Good to see you, Your Highness!”

Du Chuxuan was ripping off the chicken leg when he heard the greetings, and almost threw it away out of scare. Mind you that during the day, there had been several batches of people passing by and he had made great effort in hiding away.

He turned around and saw familiar faces, knowing they must be sent over by Yuxing Tianrui. This man’s heart wasn’t totally black. He nodded and watched them with vigilance, “I just made this one. If you want to eat, go and catch on your own. Don’t snatch mine.”

None of them expected to hear this as the first thing their Crown Princess said to them. They scratched their heads in embarrassment. Rough men as they were, they knew the etiquettes between men and women, not to mention the person was the Crown Princess. They didn’t dare to say anything even by borrowing more guts.

They quickly built a fire next to the Princess, some searching for things and others going hunting. For a time, the atmosphere was quite lively, which made them forget the hitmen closely following them entirely.

Du Chuxuan was surely lucky. The news of the failure of Ashina Yi’s plan was immediately presented onto the desk of his eldest brother, who was exactly longing for a chance to knock down Ashina Yi. Hence, the eldest brother hurriedly reported the news to their father.

Therefore, now Ashina Yi had no time to care about the situation here as he rushed back to the barracks to deal with the aftermath.

“Are you okay, Your Highness? I’ve some medicines on me. If you need—” He hadn’t finished yet, and Du Chuxuan’s big paw reached over and ready to grope inside his clothes.

The soldier was startled. Even though he was eager to display his merits, he was afraid he wouldn’t have the life to enjoy it if the Crown Princess really had touched him, in view of the Crown Prince’s love for her.

“Don’t worry, Your Highness. I’m taking the medicines out for you.” In a hurry, he put everything down on the ground in an order, not daring to say anything.

Du Chuxuan had no idea of the thoughts of the soldier in that moment. His wound had already been inflamed after soaking in the river for the whole night. When he went to hunt the wild chicken, he saw some familiar herbs that his shifu had treated him with and grabbed to apply on his wound.

Now he was a little dizzy but still relaxed, believing the herb would take effect sooner or later. Therefore, it’s fair to say fortune favors fools. He didn’t have any vain worries.

He randomly picked a few bottles of medicine, without paying serious attention to what they were after spotting the characters such as anti-inflammatory and sterilizing, regardless applied on his wound, and groaned because of the pain.

The soldier was shocked that the precious medicines were lavished by the Crown Princess like this and grudged bitterly. One of the medicine was granted by the Emperor the last time he made a feat and was said to be personally made by the Divine Doctor. He had even been unwilling to use it when he almost died of the last injury, so now he was sad to see it wasted by the Crown Princess.

The soldier daren’t to say, and certainly Du Chuxuan wasn’t aware of that. With food and wine and medicine, he instantly felt the whole world was in peace, “Alright. You may go to rest.”

“Don’t Your Highness plan to return to the barracks today?” They were surprised. They had a tough day and dare not go back without finding the Crown Princess. Now, they had found her and believed they could go back for a good sleep, but she refused to return immediately.

Du Chuxuan’s lips twitched. Could he tell them that sleeping in the wilderness, even for one night, was more comfortable than by Yuxing Tianrui’s side? Of course he couldn’t. He chose some justifiable words, “You’re all injured. Take a rest first. Let’s go back tomorrow.”

Du Chuxuan didn’t expect that his excuse unexpectedly helped him gain the soldiers’ loyalty. In the eyes of these rough men, Du Chuxuan was now a person who was willing to think on their behalf. They naturally became grateful.

Misunderstanding was always so lovely. When they returned, all the military power within the barracks were already in the hand of Yuxing Tianrui, scheme-proof like an iron barrel tolerating no fingers trying to dip in.

Du Chuxuan walked into the big tent. The first scene Yuxing Tianrui saw was his discomfiture, which made him a little sad, but when he opened his mouth, words of dissatisfaction sprang out, “You look so terrible. Go and get changed.”

Fortunately, Du Chuxuan had a big heart. He slept comfortably last night without Yuxing Tianrui, but after all, grassland couldn’t be as good as bed and sheets.

Of course he was quite happy when Yuxing Tianrui ordered him to take a rest. Instantly, he curtsied to him and left the main tent.

The event of the Dragon General had come in such a fierce momentum that, needless to say, as Yuxing Tianrui had anticipated, the capital was put into a turmoil upon receiving the fake news that the Crown Prince died at war.

Many undercurrents surfaced, and the Emperor took this opportunity to extirpate some people, which could be considered a blessing in misfortune.

Now that Yuxing Tianrui was fine, everyone was happy. After Yuxing Tianrui sorted everything out, the first thing he did was not to punish the traitors following the Dragon General, but to throw a celebration party.

He knew that Ashina Yi didn’t have the time to make troubles tonight.

The Shenglan Army was in joy tonight. Even Du Chuxuan was infected by the atmosphere outside the tent and humming a song to himself.

“It seems our Crown Princess is in a good mood.”
