Into the Zombie World

Jellan could only shake her head after hearing their explanation. 

"No need to worry, they are your Bro Nile's pets. Don't worry they won't bite you guys…"

Hearing that, the kids did not believe her at first, however, after seeing the obedient animals outside, they could not help but believe her words. 

They were about to go outside to check the animals when Jellan told them to eat first. She then handed them the leaf full of Java Fruits inside before she woke Nalyn up. 

Nalyn's wound was still the same as before. In fact, the pain she felt had even become more severe as more time passess by. These days, she even accepted her fate already, if it wasn't for her worrying about the others, she might have even chosen to end her life already. 

In fact, she also felt that she had just become the others burden, and if not for Jellan and Nile appearing all of a sudden, she was already planning to end her life today when no one was looking. That way, the others will stop worrying about her and they can move on to survive on their own.

She leaned on the couch weakly as Jellan proceeded to dice the Java Fruit into small bits with a clean knife before handing them to Nalyn. 

Nalyn thanked Jellan heartfully and although she had some reservation about her being with Nile, that reservation at least loosened a bit if not completely by her caring acts right now.

Jellan nodded her head and turned her body. She then walked towards Nile who was still 'sleeping' soundly at the moment. She crouched down and proceeded to check his temperature and to check if nothing was amiss. However, even if there was, she knew she could do nothing other than to wait for him to resolve it on his own, after all, she still doesn't even have the chance to rank up yet. 

Jellan stayed by Nile's side for the rest of the day, not daring to go far from him. The Java Fruits she brought home were enough for them to last for the whole day anyway. 

Time passed and it was already approaching evening.

Jellan was still sitting beside Nile. She hasn't seen him for years and she just wants to satisfy her longing by gazing at him all day long. 

Nile's situation was still unknown. He was still sleeping soundly, but what he was really feeling, no one knows. 

The kids were still outside, playing with Maximo and the others. Although they were fearful of them at first, they gradually approached them due to their curiosity. 

Nile's pet did not reject them either. Knowing that their owner was really alright and was even sleeping soundly while undergoing his evolution, they also relaxed a little as they felt relieved. 

After knowing that the children were Nile's brother and sisters, the animals did not reject them and even played along with them. Especially Maximo who quite liked the attention he was receiving from the kids. He would even let them ride and circle them around the house while patrolling to look out for some stray zombies and even hybrids. 

The kids wore some satisfied smiles after a long time of feeling fearful. For the first time in a while, Nalyn saw them having a genuine smile again. Nalyn could not help but tear up seeing their happy faces.

The Java Fruits have proven to be effective for Nalyn's wounds. After eating a lot of them, her wound had now started to close and the pain also eased up a little. Unlike earlier, she no longer has the thought of killing herself. 

It was because, one, she saw hope for her situation, and second, Nile was already back, although he was still ranking up or evolving, at least she could see him in person now. Unlike before where she was really blind to his whereabouts. 

Evening came and Jellan evenly distributed the remaining Java Fruits to everyone. Of course, due to her injuries, Nalyn was prioritized so she got more shares compared to others. 

Even Maximo and the others got their own share including Ogis' little wife. The four of them were entrusted to patrol the area by Jellan. Though, from morning until now, no zombie or hybrid approached the ancient house. However, their guard was still up as it was already evening and the hybrid would soon move out of the town hall to hunt for food. 

Jellan specifically told them to be on guard at all times. They cannot afford to slack off as she was worried that if a battle broke out near the house, it might startle Nile and interrupt his evolution. 

Some time later, Istan came with some bits of food he managed to gather. The hybrid's no longer ate normal food and only desired to eat raw human meat or even zombie meat. Istan was not fond of that idea so he often snuck out to get 'normal' food for his own. Of course, this also resulted in him being weak all the time. 

After all, the Hybrids had already strayed away from human standards and the nutrients they needed were also different from humans. So eating normal food when you're a hybrid was equivalent to only eating unhealthy foods. 

Jellan already told Maximo and the others to not attack directly if there were any hybrid patrolling nearby as she was afraid that they might attack Istan on sight. 

Fortunately she did so, or else, Ogis who spotted Istan first might have really swooped down to sever his head away from his body. 

Of course, just like the other kids, Istan was also startled by the monstrous animals that approached him cautiously. After roaming with the other hybrids from time to time, he was also able to know that animals had mutated, and some even attacked them on sight, while the others would flee in panic. 

He personally witnessed two hybrids getting eaten by two humongous cheetahs the previous days. Of course, he was happy about their outcome but the shock that he felt when those were eaten was still present. 

That was also the reason why it took him a long time to come here, as he was also afraid of mutated animals suddenly pouncing to eat him. Fortunately, none of it happened until now. 

Seeing the mutated animals, his first thought was to retreat and use another route. He could also turn around and flee but he was worried that the others inside the house were still not aware of the mutated animal's presence yet. 

Hence, he planned to take another route and then inform them of the behemoth outside. 

Fortunately, before he could do so and waste his time, he suddenly heard Jellan's voice from afar.
