Game’s Dogma

Chapter 173: A Gift For Everyone

Tripurity retreated as he fought. Ten swords soared through the air, constantly interrupting the Dark World tormentors from casting spells while engaging in close-quarters combat with their melee fighters. He wasn’t so overpowered that he could win against over ten players, but by retreating slowly, he was delaying Dark World’s advance while making it difficult for them to kill him.

Paths in the maze weren’t very wide nor too narrow, just wide enough for three or four people to walk side by side. Still, fighting in such a path put a great restraint on everyone, especially for Drako Yau who wielded a lengthy polearm. Many of his powerful spearmanship techniques were sealed because of the limited space, as if the maze itself was meant to be his downfall.

Faced with Empyreal Spire’s charge, Dumbgirl stepped forwards and positioned herself before Drako Yau. ‘Don’t hurt my master!’ she proclaimed.

Startled momentarily, Man-of-Steel yelled in rage, ‘Mask! Using a young girl as a meat shield, are you even a man!’

Slyfox didn’t utter a word. He was already lurking in an attempt to bypass Drako Yau. As long as he could overtake them in the maze, he could lay his trap formation and box them in. Escaping? It’d be impossible!

Greenstone’s sharp eyes seemed to sweep past him. Slyfox stiffened; for a moment, he almost forgot if he was lurking or not, but he was sure he had used Forced Lurk. How did the robed brawny man spot him then?

Still bewildered, Slyfox received the answer from Greenstone, who waved his fan and shot out a narrow beam of light the width of a hair. It struck Slyfox and knocked off his lurking effect.

Meanwhile, Man-of-Steel was already right before Drako Yau, or more accurately, Dumbgirl who stood before him. Dumbgirl showed no fear at all despite going up against the herculean warrior who charged at her with great momentum. Back when she had barely any skills, she still chased Yip Ku-sing for a day; this much was nothing for her after learning new skills.

Dumbgirl threw a simple punch with a serious look at the charging warrior. Her fist was so tiny that Man-of-Steel’s fist was thrice that of hers. However, howls of a dragon accompanied her punch.

A golden dragon aura surged from her fist, slamming into Man-of-Steel before he could react and defend. The attack stunned not only Man-of-Steel but also Dark World and other Empyreal Spire members whose attention was on Mask.

What the hell was that?

Everyone was startled, but that didn’t include Dumbgirl. She immediately thrust her other palm, now in the form of a claw, at Man-of-Steel and pulled him abruptly as he was still flying through the air. Another dragon howl, another dragon aura. It struck him like lightning and pulled him backwards before the knockback effect was over.

Dumbgirl muttered as Man-of-Steel flew towards her, ‘A circle with the left hand, a claw with the right…’

Her arms moved accordingly, drawing a circle with her left hand and thrusting her right ‘claw’ through the circle. Triggering Dragon Subduing Palms’ effect, another golden dragon gushed from her tiny hand and grabbed Man-of-Steel.

The dragon slammed Man-of-Steel heavily to the ground as he flew helplessly through the air, causing a massive boom. He rebounded upon hitting the ground with great force, only to meet Dumbgirl who entered a stance and threw a left punch.

Poor Man-of-Steel was blasted away again by her punch. Immediately, Dumbgirl turned around and asked, ‘Master, how did I do?’

‘Mhm,’ Drako Yau said as he thrust his right palm, firing off another dragon aura to pull Man-of-Steel back once again. ‘Not bad. The final punch lacks a bit of power though, and your stance is a little too shallow and wobbly.’

Drako Yau welcomed Man-of-Steel with his spear by casting a combo of Fiery Dance, Snowy Doorstep, three basic attacks, topped off with Soaring Flames. As his attacks rained down on Man-of-Steel, he continued to instruct Dumbgirl.

‘Your stance has to be stable for your punches to be quick and powerful. A good stance also protects you from lower attacks. If your balance is broken, it’ll get dangerous.’

After another Snowy Doorstep, Drako Yau leapt and slashed his spear vertically downwards like a staff. As if a bomb had gone off, his spear caused an explosion as it struck the ground and spewed flames all over.

‘Level 25 Godly Spearmaster skill, Flameblast: A smashing attack to the front which triggers the power of flames. Deals area-of-effect and burning damage.’

After Flameblast triggered the explosion, Man-of-Steel was again tossed away. Despite being a berserker, he had barely any Health left. Only then did Chau Yu respond with the simplest yet quickest spell, Heal.

The spell recovered Man-of-Steel’s Health a little and soothed his mind. Drako Yau, now around ten steps away from Man-of-Steel, held his spear with only his right hand and hammered the pole-end into the ground.

Man-of-Steel felt a bit chilly. Under everyone’s stares, frost formed beneath him and suddenly bloomed into an icy flower which filled the entire tunnel. He turned into a white burst of light before vanishing.

‘Level 25 Godly Spearmaster skill, Icy Bloom: Forms an icy flower at the specified location to the front. Deals area-of-effect damage and freezes enemies for 2 seconds.’

The duet of attacks vaporised Man-of-Steel before he could do anything.

Man-of-Steel was thrown away, pulled back, slammed into the ground, and punched away by Dumbgirl in a matter of five mere seconds. It took another five seconds for Drako Yau to pull him back with Dragon Capturing Hand, cast the combo of ice and flames, and finish him off with Icy Bloom.

In around ten seconds, they easily killed a berserker from Empyreal Spire. It was only more terrifying considering Mask was calmly teaching the loli how to fight as he killed the poor berserker without batting an eye.

Empyreal Spire and Dark World all showed surprise and fear as they stared at the fiery red mask and the cute teenage girl.

This crazy bastard!

Mask had been frightening in the past because he could slay his enemies without casting any skills. The current Mask was even more frightening thanks to his unprecedented skills—the chain of ice and fire skills was very visually stimulating. Among the sparks of flames and frost was the iconic fiery mask.

Tripurity’s face turned ashen. Ever since he had awakened to the ability to manipulate ten swords, he thought he had caught up to the masked man. But today his illusions were shattered—the masked man, who finally displayed his skills, was so far away beyond his reach. He felt like an idiot who stood halfway up a mountain and gloated over those below him when the pioneers on the summit didn’t even spare him a single glance.

Coming to such realisation, he formed tight fists with his hands.
