220. No Need to Knock the Door

Translator: Bryan

When Yan Chuyang returned, Wei Qing was still sitting on the sofa, debris of his phone scattered on the floor.

Having sensed the tension in the atmosphere, Yan Chuyang carefully put his backpack on the coffee table, soundlessly walked to Wei Qing, crouched down and, stroking Wei Qing’s knees, asked, “What’s wrong?”

Wei Qing removed Yan Chuyang’s hands from his knees. “You enjoyed the meal very much, I suppose?”

Yan Chuyang’s heart lurched and he managed a chuckle. “I didn’t. I couldn’t stop wanting to come back or missing you.”

Wei Qing lifted his eyes and sneered, “Ha, you expect me to believe you could still think of me after a long talk with him?”

Yan Chuyang’s face changed. Frowning, he said, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”

“Stop pretending.” Wei Qing straightened himself, forced a smile and said, “You don’t have to feel awkward, and neither do you have to feel sympathetic. If you want to leave, just tell me. I won’t try to stop you.”

Yan Chuyang sprang to his feet, “What nonsense is this?! Why would I leave?”

Wei Qing sneered, “Don’t you not like me anymore? Why are you pretending otherwise?”

“Who told you I didn’t like you anymore?!” Yan Chuyang snapped. “Why would I stop liking you?”

Wei Qing suddenly raised his eyes and said in disbelief, “Are you pitying me?”

“What?”

“Do you think you’re the only one I got and I can’t live without you? Is that why you’re pitying me, sympathizing with me and don’t have the heart to tell me you’re leaving? You’re trying to restrain yourself, though you don’t want to stay by my side anymore. Am I right?”

Yan Chuyang frustratedly ran a hand over his face. He stood up and held Wei Qing in his arms. “What nonsense is this? Why do you think I’m pitying you? I’ve always told you I like you, that I won’t leave you unless you chuck me out.”

Wei Qing froze momentarily, then abruptly broke free from Yan Chuyang’s embrace and, staring at the boy’s eyes, asked, “What did Song Huaiqi tell you this afternoon?”

Yan Chuyang was stunned. He rolled his eyes and said, “It’s nothing special. He just told me he’d bought me some picture albums when on a business trip in Japan and delivered them here this morning.”

“That’s all?”

“Yeah. He also told me about some of the interesting things he saw during his business trip in Japan, and then we had a desultory conversation.”

Wei Qing’s pupils contracted.

He was slightly relieved.

It seemed that Song Huaiqi had not told Yan Chuyang the truth.

But why? He had made it very clear that he wanted to tell Yan Chuyang the truth.

Had he thought that the time was not ripe yet? Was Song Huaiqi waiting for the most amazing and most romantic moment to tell Yan Chuyang about it so that he could confess his feelings for Yan Chuyang and steal him away while Yan Chuyang was moved and shocked?

Wei Qing’s heart lurched and he abruptly swept Yan Chuyang into his embrace.

“Uh…” Feeling uncomfortable, Yan Chuyang swept on Wei Qing’s hands that were holding his waist. He frowned and said, “Slacken your grip a bit. You’re hurting me.”

Wei Qing slackened his grasp slightly and his hands began to move downward from Yan Chuyang’s waist…

Yan Chuyang froze and slapped Wei Qing’s big hands off. “What are you doing?”

Wei Qing looked up at Yan Chuyang and said, “I can’t hold it in anymore. I want you. I want you now.”

He couldn’t wait anymore. Yan Chuyang didn’t have any contact with him at all. He had to grab something and make Yan Chuyang his before Song Huaiqi told him the truth.

“No.” Yan Chuyang shook his head.

“Why?”

“I’m not ready yet.”

Wei Qing’s face stiffened and he pushed Yan Chuyang away, “Are you not ready or not willing?”

Yan Chuyang blanched from his doubts. He said through gritted teeth, “I’ve told you, but you don’t believe me. I don’t want to repeat myself.”

The atmosphere became awkward.

After a long silence, Wei Qing sneered and said through clenched teeth, “You really think I want to sleep with you? Stop flattering yourself!”

With that, Wei Qing suddenly rose from the sofa, strode into the bedroom and slammed the door shut.

Yan Chuyang stared at the closed bedroom door with astonishment, his heart gradually sinking.

“You really think I want to sleep with you?”

“Stop flattering yourself!”

Those words were like a knife stabbing his heart. Yan Chuyang felt so disconcerted that he would like very much to sink through the floor.

Yan Chuyang clenched his fists and subconsciously murmured, “What have I done to deserve this?”

Yan Chuyang didn’t have a clue why Wei Qing was giving him the silent treatment.

Wei Qing hadn’t spoken to him for three days now.

He seemed to be very busy these three days.

Every day Wei Qing went out at 7 a.m. and came back at 10 p.m.

After coming back, he would always talk with someone on the phone for hours as if it were still early.

Sometimes, Wei Qing had visitors at home. Some faces were familiar to Yan Chuyang. They were quite famous fashion designers in Song City. Some of them were strangers to him, but he had seen them before.

They would enter Wei Qing’s study to talk with him in private, as if they were discussing something of great importance.

In addition, their conversations usually lasted hours.

Yan Chuyang pitied Wei Qing having such a tight schedule.

For the past few days, he had been working around the clock, and he had no time to rest even after coming back home. His heavy workload worried Yan Chuyang.

After another group of elite businessmen left, Yan Chuyang entered the study with a glass of water. No matter what, he still had to remind him.

Wei Qing was staring at the computer on the desk. He looked up and saw Yan Chuyang coming in. The look in his eyes flickered and he quickly closed his laptop. Frowning, he said, “Why didn’t you knock?”

Yan Chuyang paused and lowered his eyes awkwardly. “I just want to deliver a glass of water to you.”

“But you have to knock, no matter what it is you wanna deliver to me. Do I not deserve any privacy?”

“But…” The expression in Yan Chuyang’s eyes flickered and he tightened his hold on the glass. After a while, he said in a quiet voice, “I thought we were close and I don’t need to knock.”
