212. You Two Are Really Close

Translator: Ahve

Fang Jingshu had married another man and had a cute son again. Though her life wasn’t rich and petty quarrels happened a lot, it was enough for a woman who was already forty years old in her second marriage.

She didn’t want to ruin her peaceful life because of the past and Yan Chuyang.

Therefore, she was trying to avoid the boy. She didn’t even go to the funeral the day Yan Chuyang’s grandmother passed away.

But on the day she met the boy again, she suddenly realized that it was all different.

The weak boy who used to be her burden had grown up. Now he was tall and handsome, and he even went to university. Besides, he had a rich and powerful friend, Wei Qing, who was always generous and willing to offer him money.

That was when Fang Jingshu realized how wrong she was before. She should go see the boy now.

After all, her eldest son was now someone she could rely on.

If she could get closer to him and become his dearest mother again, would she be able to get some benefit from it?

No matter what, she was still his mother. Even though she didn’t raise him, it wasn’t easy for her to give birth to him.

Now that Yan Chuyang was Wei Qing’s friend, he could just ask the man for a favor if Wei Qing was really willing to help Yan Chuyang’s mother. Then, Li Xinqiang would be able to get the job he wanted.

Fang Jingshu was planning it all, full of expectations for her own future.

As she was deep in thought, the doorbell rang.

Li Xinqiang stuck out his chest, yet his voice was trembling, “Coming.”

Fang Jingshu tipped him a wink.

Li Xinqiang walked faster over and opened the door.

Yan Chuyang stood outside the door, holding bags of fruit and nourishment in his hands.

When he saw the boy standing there alone, Li Xinqiang looked quite disappointed, “You came alone?”

Yan Chuyang was confused, “What?”

Fang Jingshu was a smart woman. She hurriedly walked up to the door and pushed her husband away, “Come in, Chuyang. Your uncle Li is never good with words.”

Yan Chuyang came in and put the things in his hands on the table.

And Wei Qing walked in slowly from behind.

When Fang Jingshu saw the man decently dressed, her eyes instantly lit up.

She gallantly welcomed him in, beaming with smiles, “Mr. Wei, I didn’t expect you to come. You’re so busy all day. I feel honored to have you here.”

Wei Qing didn’t say anything, uncomfortable with the woman’s flattering tone.

Yan Chuyang was afraid that Wei Qing would lose his temper, so he quickly turned around and dragged Wei Qing to his side. “He’s here to accompany me. I’m not skilled at driving, so I asked him to drive me here.”

Fang Jingshu nodded and looked at them with a smile, “I’m glad to see you two being so close, just like brothers.”

Yan Chuyang interrupted her awkwardly, “We’re not that close.”

Fang Jingshu smiled, “You must be tired now. Have a seat, please.”

Yan Chuyang glanced at Wei Qing.

The man was looking at the wooden stool with disdain.

Yan Chuyang knew that Wei Qing was a little squeamish. Sitting here in a stranger’s house would make him feel uncomfortable.

Yan Chuyang still remembered that when Wei Qing first went to the house the boy rented, Wei Qing didn’t want to sit in the sofa. The man was even a bit angry when he was forced to sit.

Thinking of this, the boy sighed. He quickly took out a cushion from his backpack and put it on the stool, “Now you can sit here.”

Wei Qing glanced at the cushion and sat down slowly, but the unhappiness on his face was obvious.

Fang Jingshu and Li Xinqiang froze. They didn’t expect Wei Qing to express his feelings so clearly. It was so embarrassing for them at this moment.

Thankfully, Yan Chuyang explained in a low voice, “Please don’t mind. He’s just not used to staying in others’ houses.”

“It’s okay,” Fang Jingshu nodded with a wry smile. “I understand. Decent people like Mr. Wei are always tidy.”

Yan Chuyang nodded.

Fang Jingshu pointed to the chair and said to the boy, “Have a seat. You’re tired. It’s not easy for you to find our small house in such a big city.”

Fang Jingshu poured a cup of water and handed it to Wei Qing first.

Yan Chuyang didn’t mind it. He sat on the chair and stopped the woman from pouring him another cup of water, “Thanks, but I’m not thirsty.”

“Even if you’re not thirsty, you have to drink some water,” Fang Jingshu still poured a cup of water for him. “It’s so hot in summer. You’ll feel much cooler.”

“Oh,” Yan Chuyang took the cup and took a sip. To be honest, he always felt ill at ease when the woman was being nice to him.

Seeing them two sit down, Fang Jingshu took the opportunity and said to the man who was standing beside her, “Go get some cold drinks, and bring over the red bean smoothie I made in the kitchen.”

Yan Chuyang quickly put down the cup with a frown, “Don’t bother. We won’t be here for long. I just heard that you’re sick, so I came to see you.”

Fang Jingshu’s expression changed and she asked, “Is it your uncle Li who called you to say I’m sick?”

The boy nodded.

“You don’t have to listen to him,” the woman said with a smile, “He loves to exaggerate things. Actually, it’s not a big problem. I had a fever a few days ago. Now I’m feeling much better after taking some medicine.”

Yan Chuyang could tell it from her ruddy face. He breathed a sigh of relief, “It’s good to see that you’re fine now. You’re not as young and strong as before. No matter what, you have to take care of your body.”

Fang Jingshu looked touched. She held the boy’s hand, “My son, I didn’t expect you to still care about me. I thought you would hate me.”

Yan Chuyang pulled out his hand, his voice flat, “We should all be kind to old people. Don’t think too much.”

He couldn’t be so generous to accept everything happened between them in the past and become her obedient son again for the time being.

Wei Qing just sat there silently.

He always felt that something wasn’t right.

Why did Fang Jingshu suddenly invite him here? Why did she treat Yan Chuyang so well?

If it was just for money, she could have asked Yan Chuyang for it.

And she said she was sick? How ridiculous! She didn’t look like a patient who had fever for several days at all. She was obviously trying to trick her own son.

Only such an innocent boy would believe this kind of nonsense.

Li Xinqiang soon came over with a plate full of red bean smoothie and put it in the middle of the table. “Your mother has been busy doing this all morning. Yang, try it now.”

While talking, Li Xinqiang sat down next to Fang Jingshu, looking at the boy expectantly.

Yan Chuyang felt uneasy when Li Xinqiang stared at him like that. He couldn’t refuse it, so he picked up a spoon and have a taste of the smoothie.

It was so sweet and cold!

“It’s yummy!” Yan Chuyang seemed to have forgotten such an awkward situation. He couldn’t help but enjoy it with great relish, squinting and letting out a sigh of satisfaction.

Fang Jingshu loosened her shoulders and smiled, “I knew you would like it.”

Yan Chuyang spooned some and put it next to Wei Qing’s mouth, “It’s delicious. Have a try.”

The man remained cold, “No.”

“Just taste it.” Yan Chuyang frowned. “Remember this taste. I’ll make it for you some other day.”

Wei Qing snorted, “Who wants to eat this cheap thing?”

“Try it,” the boy’s voice softened. “It’s really delicious.”

Wei Qing’s heart was beating faster. He couldn’t resist it and he subconsciously opened his mouth.

Actually, it wasn’t bad.

Yet it was too sweet for the man. All he needed was just a taste, and he would get tired of it soon.

Wei Qing glanced at the plate on the table and tried to remember all the ingredients.

Since Yan Chuyang liked it, he would make it for him.

He was sure that he could do much better than that woman.

“You two are really close,” Fang Jingshu looked at them with a smile.

Yan Chuyang froze, hurriedly took back the spoon, turned around and kept his head down.

That was enough! He was charmed by the food and forgot where he was right now. This was not his home! This was the woman’s home! And what did he do just now in front of the woman and her husband?

That was insane! Now he really didn’t know what to do!

The moment he saw delicious food, his brain became sluggish.
