Chap 2: Angels are Invincible

I felt a poke on my back, so I turned around and saw a cute little girl standing there.

“What’s up, Yuma?” I asked.

The girl had twin tails with an ashen green hue, and she looked like she was about to cry. I didn’t want her to cry anymore, so I spoke to her in a gentle voice.

“Is Nii-chan going to quit…?”

This is Yumalma. I call her Yuma for short.

She is the youngest member of the guild and also my little sister. Because of that, she’s a beloved presence to everyone.

“It’s just an analogy.”

If a cute girl like her was in a teary-eyed state like this, normally her tension would skyrocket.

However, I calmly dealt with it.

Because I didn’t expect anything.

I don’t think a cute girl like her would approach an ugly guy like me, nor do I think she would fall in love with me. It’s not like this is a light novel I read in my past life.

“Th-that was just an analogy!”

“Oops.”

Yuma hugged me as I sat down. Fortunately, she was small and light, so I was able to hug her back.

“No, no…”

“Yuma-san, Yuma-san. Don’t shake your head so much. Your hair is hitting me and it hurts a bit.”

It was hitting my cheek with a pat pat. Hair hitting you can be pretty painful, you know?

“Fu fu, Yuma sure likes to be pampered, doesn’t she?”

I wish Fel would stop smiling and actually help me out here…

“…Sigh. I’m sorry, Yuma. I won’t make jokes like that anymore.”

“Uu… Really…?”

Next time, I’ll say it for real when I leave, so it won’t be a lie.

“Really, really. So calm down, okay?”

As I tried stroking her head, she looked delighted.

“Onii-chan~♪”

She leaned her body against me, seeming to be in a good mood.

Is everything resolved now?

“Or rather, everyone, that was just a joke, so don’t worry about it. Let’s get back to chatting,” I said, following up after Fel and Yuma to warn someone else before they could interject and make things more complicated.

It seemed like my warning had worked, and the members had returned to their lively conversation like before.

I realized that this was not something to joke about, so I made a mental note to only mention it when it was truly time to bring it up.

Reflecting on this, I took another sip of my coffee.
