Age of Heroes

Chapter 469: Where art thou heroes (2)

And Ragni scream again as loud as he can, when suddenly his throat become parched and slowly his scream become shrill by the seconds until there is no voice coming out of his mouth, and the crowd began feeling their own heart beating fast, sweating in their back looking at this unnatural state that Ragni is in.

What kind of technique could torture a man like this! This is their thoughts looking at the pitiful condition of Ragni.

Isn't this expert too excessive! But then the crowds gasped looking at what is happening to Ragni body.

The blood gushing out from Ragni follows a trail leading up to Arial hand.

The blood when reaching Arial hand was absorbed inside Arial body.

Slowly in front of the crowd Ragni who is screaming in silence, his body is desiccating in just a few breaths and then in about three breaths time, Ragni is no longer alive.

Ragni become a lifeless husk

Arial looking at the shriveled up corpse said.

'I already said your blood is not worthy to stain my clothes.' Saying this he throws the corpse to Ragherot.

'Sic out the direwolf on them' Arial orders. Hearing this, the crowds began feeling this expert is really excessive.

True, Ragni has bad intention.

But he is an expert. Shouldn't he at least refrain himself? He is the Elder. He should not bully the young.

In the land of Shadows, it is the truth that the strong rules but that doesn't mean the strong always oppresses the weak.

Many strong people usually spare the weak because killing weak people is beneath them. That is the value of the strong.

Arial on the other hand think differently. Once he makes a decision to kill, he will kill. So what if he is weak? If you are weak then be smart.

Why does he have to care whether his opponent is weak or strong?

If he wants to kill, he kills.

He could of course justify his killing as protecting Ana, or because to destroy the weed from its root or any myriad of other reason, but Arial doesn't like to make excuses.

Why does he have to justify himself?

He was just angry and the man dares spit on his face, not knowing the immensity of Heaven and Earth, Ragni provoke a man that shouldn't be provoked.

So that is why even after he has killed Ragni he did not address the crowds, standing there, arrogantly, looking at the lifeless corpse with no hint of joy or satisfaction, only apathy.

Looking at this, the fear that the crowd feels for the young expert intensified.

Killing Ragni is one thing, torturing him is another. Then if that is not enough, now the expert wanted to kill the lackey too, asking the direwolf to tear them apart.

What chance would the lackey have facing a direwolf other than being ripped to shreds? Too merciless.

Some of the spectators also has disappeared. Many of them feared to get caught up in this scene

Arial on the other hand has never wanted to give his enemy any mercy. He has killed people for a lot less reason.

This is why he is feared in Human Continent. His enemy should not expect any mercy from him.

It is also this quality that enables him to conquer the Human Continent.

But for some reason, he knows that he should not have felt so angry to this extent…but he is angry.

A fury burning inside his heart…and he does not know how to expel it. He realizes as years go by, instead of becoming calmer, he became more unreasonable.

He doesn't understand it either what makes him like his.

He became easily angered, easily irritated and in a drop of hat he killed people unblinkingly, unflinchingly.

There is darkness inside him. It's there. Always. Always watching, always guiding.

He doesn't know what made him the way he is now, but his wife death and her betrayal, the betrayal of his is the impetus, if he had to blame anything.

He didn't show it, but he was angry, resentful. But for some reason he can't escape her shadows.

Respecting her last wishes, he did not do anything to Kyle. Remembering Lisa, he couldn't execute her brother.

Remembering his wife, he couldn't plot his destruction. Love….which used to be so freeing….now bind him with chains.

Since that day, his hand has been soaked deep in blood, and his heart is always in fury.

'What!' Ana scream. She couldn't believe Arial would be so merciless. What kind of man kill people without any regards.

Hearing this order by Arial, the crowds feel a chill in their heart. More people distance themselves from the young couple.

'I refuse. Mercy is better.'

'I try to be merciful' he said coldly.

When did you try? Ana mused. All she could see that Arial was offended and quickly killed the young man without even hesitating.

'Hmmm' he said.

He look at the ten men fear in their eyes, hand trembling, body shakings, some even wet themselves, ten men; all do not dare to look at that clear blue eyes.

'Then I will be merciful for you' he said.

'Scram and don't let me see you again' he said pointing at the ten men.

Some of them quickly run like they don't have enough land to run, but then Arial yelled.

'HALT!' And the ten men all halt including Ragherot. They do not dare offending the expert.

'Do you want to leave the corpse here? Bring it with you.' The lackey quickly takes the corpse and they are shocked to realize that the corpse is almost weightless.

This is of course because Arial has sucked all of it bloods and life essence inside Ragni.

When the ten men all disappeared from sight, Arial look around at the open district. All those who match eyes with him quickly lower their gaze.

Arial may not be an emperor here but he sure does has an air of Emperor.

Superiority over the masses. Charisma that oozes out from the manner he speaks and acts. Dignity and pride befitting of an Emperor.

All this is present in his gaze.

'Anyone else wanted to try?' He said. He doesn't know about Rgaran but if there is anyone else wanted to rob him he like them to know unless they don't bet their lives don't dream of robbing him.

Silence. Nobody says anything.

'Then that is settled' he said.

'Ana, let's go to a tavern' he said. He spotted tavern in the district when he did his scan before.

'Tavern?'

'Yes, in my land taverns are the hotbed for gossip and work.'

Hearing this Ana also agreed. First she checks the pouch and she sigh a relieved breath. There is gold.

Her younger sister left her some gold. At least it is enough to drink.

After all she needs to find Zara and get a job. Taverns usually have that kind of information. Even it doesn't, tavern is a good place to start

Maybe they could find a job here. Some taverns also post some jobs in their posting board. At least that is the way it was for the Bastion.

Get some gold and supplies by working. She then look at Arial clam face, like nothing happens.

Her heart is still shaken because of Arial action but she think to herself.

Maybe this kind of thing is usual in the world of expert martial artist. Thinking like that she and Arial went to the White District.

The crowds looking at the disappearing silhouette of the young couple finally release a sigh of relived breaths.

Then the murmuring began to rise up as they all ask who the young couple is and why are they here.

The guard of the gate is now trembling in his knees. How will he account for this if Reoh find out he allowed that young couple to enter the city?

He run towards the direction of the young couple determined to cast his lot behind that young couple.

'Who is that?' they said as they look at the couple

'Where did he come from?' Another chimed in.

'Reoh would not let this go' some declare

The Open District is buzzing with conversation as the dark clouds are gathering.
