203. Blasting the Human Devil (I)

A sound of movement emanated from inside the bus and arrested He Zheng’s and Li Zong’s attention. It turned out to be Zhao Fei breaking out of the fetters of the Human Devil’s demonic Qi.

Zhao Fei nimbly jumped off the bus and knitted his brows at the sight of the scene.

“Where’s the Human Devil hiding? Did she flee with her tail between her legs?”

“She won’t be able to escape. I left a gift on her.” After saying this, Li Zong activated the Dragon-Locating Ruler, which started to rotate quickly and then pointed in a direction. Li Zong swiveled his head aside and tossed He Zheng a glance. ‘When luck accrues to a person, even his soul is illuminated,’ as the saying goes. He Zheng immediately came to understand what he meant.

Zhao Fei gave a chuckle, gazing unblinkingly in the direction that the Dragon-Locating Ruler was pointing. “The well-known Human Devil has actually stooped so low as to inhabit a woman’s body like a parasite. I don’t know how he has the nerve to have others call him the Human Devil. Has he no shame?”

He pointedly turned his head around and said to Li Zong, “Although this is only a training session meant to toughen them up, I think the next time we should pick another high-level demon that is more powerful. This level of difficulty is too low for our trainees.”

Hiding in the shadows, the Human Devil ground her teeth with fury. For a demon with a big ego, this kind of humiliation was unbearable, especially when Zhao Fei’s words reminded the Human Devil forcefully of Zhou Yize… ‘That son of a bitch.’

In the knowledge that her mind control wouldn’t work on him, the Human Devil inwardly let out a snort, splayed her fingers and then balled her hand into a fist, and with that a gust of wind abruptly blew by, a great cloud of black gas billowed out of her fist. Then she suddenly unclenched her fist and the black gas shot squarely in Zhao Fei’s direction.

Of course a high-level demon was not as easy to deal with as Zhao Fei had said. He inwardly muttered “Shit!” and with that the Luminous Firelight Sword instantly flew from Li Zong’s hand and promptly deflected the Human Devil’s blow for Zhao Fei.

The Human Devil was taken aback and then heard a clear voice reciting an incantation quickly.

“The four enlightened realms, the infinite heaven and earth, all gods bow before you, thunder is your servant. Ghosts and demons recoil, monsters and bogeys cower. Lend me your power. Bring evil to its end!”

As thunderclouds rapidly gathered in the sky above the Human Devil’s position, panic glinted in her eyes. “A lightning spell!”

He Zheng let out a shout to crashes of thunder, swinging the Shadow Sword straight at the Human Devil, directing sword-light accompanied by a glaring sheet lightning towards that position. The next second, the grass in the spot where the Human Devil had been hiding had been burnt and blackened, with several giant marks in the ground.

The Human Devil had sidestepped the first sheet lighting in time, but the second thunderbolt soon struck down. He Zheng let out another cry. Zhao Fei and Li Zong also joined hands. Faced with the leader of the first action group of the Supernaturalism Management Bureau (SMB) and a leader of an action group of the SMB sub-bureau in Hang City, the Human Devil didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of escaping.

The Human Devil had barely managed to dodge the sheet lightning and didn’t even have enough time to catch her breaths. She bitterly regretted having taken these people lightly, especially that Li Zong guy!

Her bloodshot eyes, which nearly popped out of her head, was quickly covered by black gas. With all her might, she parried the second flash of lightning and at the same time blustered, “You ruined my plan. I’ll have all of you die with me!” in a deep and low voice which was magnified by her powers and sounded venomous and blood-curdling.

The woman let out an eerie cackle which sounded as though it was not from a human throat but from some monster’s.

The Human Devil gathered her demonic Qi and splayed her fingers pointing at Zu Zhichong, Chen Qianlin, Jin Qianlai and the others. Instantaneously, the misery on their faces intensified significantly.

Zhao Fei and the other two inwardly exclaimed “Damn it!”. The reason why they were talking so much was because they wanted to draw the Human Devil’s attention away from the others.

Li Zong opened his long-fingered hands which had distinct knuckles. “Step aside,” he said.

His voice was deep, low and placid.

The next second, Li Zong clenched and unclenched his fists and with that a flame shaped like a blooming red lotus flower popped out of each of his palms as if by magic, the cores of the flames platinum, the tongues of them crimson.

“Karma flames!” exclaimed the Human Devil, her pupils abruptly contracting, hurriedly backing away several paces, too flustered to even strengthen her control over Jin Qianlai.

“Move aside!” He Zheng shouted. After the Human Devil dodged the thunderbolts conjured by an Elementary Lightning Fu, He Zheng had thrown caution to the wind and performed the Quintuple Lightning Enchantment. At this moment, the enchantment was working, chains of lightning glaring overhead. And then five thunderbolts twining through each other struck down.

Remarkably, the flames in Li Zong’s hands were absorbed by the thunderbolts which converged at the tip of He Zheng’s sword, gusts of howling wind whipping his clothes.

“Let me make this more fun.” Zhao Fei slightly turned up his lips and fished a jade mirror out of his bosom, which reflected the glare of the chained lightning in the sky onto the blade of He Zheng’s sword.

Churning in the sky were vast sheets of lightning, and roaring above the ground were fierce winds. All those under the Human Devil’s mind control, as though someone pulled their souls out of another plane of existence, were abruptly jogged back to their senses, slumped to their knees and were nearly blown away by the turbulent winds before they could gasp for air.

A giant, purple swirl of lightning came into being in the sky, eddying constantly, looking like a gigantic black hole connecting the sky and the earth, entwined with a dragon of fire, the fiery red flames of which lent an air of eerieness to the glare of the lightning.

He Zheng, who was controlling the eddy of lightning, felt sweat dripping off his forehead one after another, as if he were melting from the scorching heat of the flames, and the mighty energy flow going through his body was so elemental that his body was teetering on the brink of exploding.
