140. A Demonized Kang Ba? (2)

Kang Ba’s expression slightly changed. His lips briefly twitched in a rather unnatural way, his head hanging. “Why are you talking in such a strange tone, He Zheng? You’re suspecting me?”

He Zheng smiled an unconcerned smile. “Of course not.”

“But I never believed you either,” he added.

And with that He Zheng threw the Fu in his hand squarely at Kang Ba’s face. Kang Ba immediately realized what that was. Right at this moment, Tianyi who had been standing by all along as well as Wei Cheng in the corner quickly made their move. He Zheng’s Fu instantly immobilized Kang Ba where he stood, but the next moment, black gas devoured He Zheng’s Fu and burnt it to ashes, which fell to the ground.

Seeing he was exposed, Kang Ba unhesitatingly shaped his hands into claws and launched a fierce attack. Wei Cheng and Tianyi got into a confused fighting with him.

“What happened to Kang Ba exactly?”

Lin Zhuo, though having little combat capability, had read many related books, and he immediately came to understand what this was about. “I guess this is part of our special training!”

On hearing this, He Zheng gave a start. Demonized Kang Ba was very powerful. Both Wei Cheng and Tianyi seemed to be pretty competent cultivators, but though they’d joined hands, they still hadn’t overpowered Kang Ba.

Without turning around, He Zheng pressed Lin Zhuo into his chair and said, “Stay put.”

And then He Zheng wielded his sword and lunged forward.

In a room.

On a long table was a little sand table which was the whole SMB in miniature. Slowly rotating above the sand table was an atlas beneath which were a couple of small balls of light. Inside the balls were live images of none other than applicants that had passed the interview, who without exception were moving with demons “planted” by the examination panel at this moment.

Standing beside the table were a couple of people, Lin Di, Li Zong and Zhen Daoyuan included. There was only one man sitting in a chair: Elder Chen who had previously shown up in SMB.

The room was not big, but there were plenty of people in it.

Zhao Yidi in a cheongsam flicked a glance at Lin Di and inexplicably said, “Magic tool developers are uncontrollable factors in all circumstances. Lin Di, it’s quite impressive that your brother managed to make all that stuff. Other groups haven’t even discovered the test has begun, not to mention finding out who their targets are. What this group is doing is almost like playing a video game with a powerful plug-in. Does this count as a violation of the rules?”

Zhao Yidi had always been confrontational. On top of that, her rank was pretty high, so Lin Di didn’t dare talk back to her, his lips curving in a smile.

Elder Chen said, “Then let’s do something to level the playing field. Given that they have Zhuo in their group, send them another opponent.”

Zhen Daoyuan tossed a glance at Li Zong, who didn’t say anything.

Elder Chen held up a finger and pointed at the sand table, and with that the situation in the classroom took another turn.

Demonized Kang Ba gained another enhancement of his strength. He was probably even more powerful than the original Kang Ba. Wei Cheng was an excellent exorcist, but with the help of He Zheng and Tianyi, he still couldn’t restrain Kang Ba any time soon.

Right at this moment, a click issued from the lock in the closed door. Lin Zhuo who had been nervously watching the fight all along heard this faint sound, looked at the doorway and saw a man standing outside. The expression on his face was somewhat peculiar and more fixed than that of Kang Ba. It was Tao Wujiu, who was dragging a corpse.

“He Zheng…” Lin Zhuo, his teeth chattering, only just managed to retain his composure.

Tao Wujiu was gazing vacantly at the scene in the classroom.

Kang Ba alone had made the situation knotty enough, and now Tao Wujiu showed up to make things even worse!

Tao Wujiu’s eyes fell on Lin Zhuo who didn’t have any self-protection skills at all.

The hairs on Lin Zhuo’s back prickled as he noticed this.

Low-hanging fruit always got the most attention.

On hearing Lin Zhuo’s voice, He Zheng felt as though his insides had turned to ice, but he quickly reacted at the sight of Tao Wujiu.

“You guys are on your own,” said He Zheng in a grave voice. Tao Wujiu had come at Lin Zhuo. In the realization that he wouldn’t be able to dodge this deadly blow of Tao Wujiu’s by moving to the left or the right side, Lin Zhuo without a second thought crouched down and hid himself beneath the desk. Tao Wujiu, who seemed to be surprised by this unexpected move of Lin Zhuo, missed his target.

He Zheng threw a lightning Fu forward, quickly incanting a spell. With a gleam of the Shadow Sword, the lightning Fu ignited spontaneously, and the next instant, when Tao Wujiu had grabbed the lower hem of Lin Zhuo’s coat, a thundercloud flew over in the cloudless sky and a flash of lightning struck Tao Wujiu’s hand.

He Zheng gripped Lin Zhuo’s hand, rushing towards the outside. Surprisingly, Tao Wujiu who had just been struck by lightning and smelled roast was provoked instead of being killed, abashed and angry.

Tao Wujiu pursued them madly as if he was determined to finish the job. Lin Zhuo and He Zheng, like playing the game of chicken, sprinted all around in the classroom. Running and dodging, He Zheng every now and then seized a small window of opportunity to cast lightning Fu at their opponent, but Tao Wujiu seemed to be immune to lightning as if he was made of rubber. He Zheng kept swearing with anger while running.

On the other side of the classroom, Kang Ba also got angry. He raised his head letting out a long howl and with that a flock of falcons flew into the classroom. Tianyi was a fish, and this kind of predatory birds were his natural enemies. Resigned to his biological nature, Tianyi had no alternative but to switch with He Zheng. He went to fight Tao Wujiu the “rubber man”; He Zheng and Wei Cheng joined hands to deal with Kang Ba.

All was in chaos and confusion.

All members of the examination panel were amused by this scene. Elder Chen even couldn’t help but praise today’s youngsters for their amazing vigor.

Gazing through the ball of light at the live images of He Zheng who had been acting calmly all along, Li Zong unnoticeably curled the corners of his mouth.
