Chapter 550 Hongyuan Temple

Chapter 549 Hongyuan Temple

Xuanzang's reputation is like thunder.

The monk at Hongyuan Temple naturally heard about it.

Although Luoyang is not the capital city, it is also extremely prosperous. The Jinshan Temple in Luoyang City is also famous throughout the Tang Dynasty.

The monk looked at Xuanzang, clasped his hands together, and said softly: "Amitabha, I didn't know that the eminent monks of Jinshan Temple came, and I was far away to welcome them, and to atone for my sins."

When Xuanzang heard the words, he smiled lightly, said nothing, put his palms together, and bowed to the monk.

"Hahaha." Zhenyanghou on the side laughed when he saw this, then looked at the monk next to him, and said, "Master, Master Xuanzang has come from a long way. If you have any questions, you should ask Master Hongzhi. Please, Master, take us in."

"Amitabha, you two, please follow me."

The monk looked calm, saluted slightly, then walked in front, Zhenyanghou and Xuanzang followed behind the monk.

This Hongyuan Temple is bigger than Xuanzang imagined.

Inside the temple, there are pavilions, pavilions, and various halls, and the halls are full of monks chanting sutras.

The statue of the Lord Buddha is placed in the main hall in the middle, and the side hall next to it is dedicated to the four major Bodhisattvas and eighteen arhats.

The monk led the way and went straight to the backyard.

From a distance, Xuanzang could hear the sound of chanting sutras from the backyard, which was more rhythmic than the hall in front.

"Master Xuanzang." At this time, the monk turned his head, looked at Xuanzang, and said, "This is a Dharma meeting held in the temple presided over by Hongzhi, and it is specially for monks to preach."

"If Master Xuanzang does not give up, we can listen together."

After speaking, the monk looked at Xuanzang with a calm gaze, but he didn't care about it in his heart.

Xuanzang's reputation is great, but it does not mean that he is really proficient in Buddhism and Buddhism.

In this world, there are many people who are cheated by Buddhism and Buddhism.

And the Xuanzang in front of him, even if it is the real Xuanzang, is not necessarily proficient in Buddhism, it may be just rumors.

Xuanzang stood where he was, smiled at the monk, folded his hands together, and said, "The Huayang Sutra, which is chanted by all masters, reflects the world in a speck of dust, and contains eternity in a moment."

"The dependent origin of the dharma realm is divided into perfect belief, perfect solution, perfect practice, and perfect proof."

"Propagating the artistic conception of suddenly entering the Buddha's land."

"This is an elementary Buddhist scripture, but the poor monk...you don't need to listen to it anymore."

Xuanzang only heard a short passage of scriptures, and then directly said the name of the scriptures, and said the essence of the scriptures.

The monk standing in front of Xuanzang was startled immediately, then put his palms together and gave a Buddha's name.

And Hou Zhenyang who was behind heard the words, smiled lightly, and said: "It is rumored that Elder Xuanzang is proficient in Buddhism, seeing him today, his reputation is well-deserved."

Xuanzang heard the words and said softly: "Amitabha, the almsgiver's words are serious."

"This Buddhist scripture is my Buddha's introduction Buddhist scriptures. All monks who have been a monk for more than three years must read the Huayang Sutra thoroughly and explain the truth in it."

"The poor monk has been a monk for 20 years, so he is very familiar with the Huayang Sutra."

"Amitabha." The monk heard the words, looked at Xuanzang, and believed in Xuanzang in his heart.

But as Xuanzang said, the Huayang Sutra is considered an entry-level scripture for monks, not a very advanced scripture. Therefore, it is unlikely to make the monk admire him.

Afterwards, the monk led the two of them again and walked inside.

Until outside a side room, the monk bowed lightly and said: "You two, please stay inside for a while. After the presiding officer finishes the puja, I will come to see you."

"Amitabha, that's it, thank you very much."

Xuanzang bowed lightly when he heard the words, and the monk retreated with a smile on his face.

……

In the middle of the backyard, on the open space, an old monk was sitting on a futon with his eyes slightly closed.

In front of him, there were more than a dozen monks sitting cross-legged, all silently reciting the Huayang Sutra.

The voice of silently reciting scriptures just now came from here.

The old monk was kind-hearted, dressed in a yellow cassock, with a ruddy complexion, eight scars on his forehead, and a solemn appearance.

The monk who had just introduced Xuanzang and the others appeared, and whispered something in the old monk's ear.

Hearing the words, the old monk nodded slightly, but did not speak.

In front of the old monk, the dozen or so monks were still reciting the Huayang Sutra without being disturbed in the slightest.

Soon, the first volume of the Huayang Sutra was completely recited. The old monk opened his eyes lightly and said, "Okay, that's all for today."

"Not long after you entered the temple, this Huayang Sutra is the foundation of Buddhism, you must keep it in mind and integrate it thoroughly."

"Tomorrow at this time, still here, let's go."

After the old monk finished speaking, the dozen or so monks stood up, bowed to the old monk, and whispered: "Yes, Master."

After all the monks went down, the old monk got up with the help of others.

It was only after getting up that he realized that the old monk was already very old, and his legs and feet were not good enough.

Although his complexion looked rosy, and he didn't look like he was over sixty at all, the invasion of his body by the years had already been revealed.

"Take me there." The old monk glanced at the monk beside him and said softly.

……

In the wing room, Xuanzang sat cross-legged, without any desire for the melons and fruits placed beside him.

In any case, this Hongyuan Temple can be regarded as a clean place.

During Xuanzang's meditation, Zhenyang Hou didn't say a word, he just took a sip of tea from time to time, and didn't interrupt Xuanzang's meditation.

After a while, the voices of two people came from the corridor.

Zhenyanghou got up when he heard the sound, and walked out.

From a distance, seeing the old abbot Hongzhi and the monk coming, Zhenyang Hou immediately went up to meet him.

"Oh, old abbot, please slow down." Zhenyang Hou said while going up to help the old monk.

Abbot Hongzhi glanced at Zhenyang Hou, smiled lightly, and said: "The benefactor is worried, old monk, I have already been like this, and I am used to it."

"What did the abbot say? I see that the abbot looks very good. This is a sign of longevity!"

While talking, the two walked to the door of the wing room.

At this moment, Xuanzang had already woken up in meditation, and was standing at the door of the wing room, waiting quietly.

Seeing the old monk being helped over, Xuanzang took a few steps forward, clasped his hands together, and bowed lightly: "Amitabha, poor monk Xuanzang, I have seen an eminent monk."

"Xuanzang?" The old monk's eyes burst out with a flash of light, and then he looked at Xuanzang.

I saw Xuanzang's complexion was ruddy, with thick eyebrows and big eyes, neither happy nor sad, his face looked like a Buddha.

"Poor monk, call me Xuanzang." Xuanzang replied softly after hearing the words.

"Amitabha." The old monk also said softly: "Poor monk, Hongzhi."

"I have met the master abbot." Xuanzang saluted again.

"Stop standing here, let's talk in detail at the teahouse, let's go."

The old monk stepped forward, grabbed Xuanzang's hand, and walked back tremblingly with the support of the monk beside him.

Zhenyang Hou followed behind the three of them, but his mood was a little strange.
