Fahai travels through Tang Sanzang

Chapter 432 Tathagata Buddha collects scriptures, Master Tripitaka returns to Lingshan

Chapter 432 Tathagata Buddha collects scriptures, Master Sanzang returns to Lingshan

Even for those monks who have been famous for a long time, it is still a technical job to open the altar and lecture.

But Fa Hai is very familiar with this, even in front of the monarchs, ministers and common people in the capital of the Tang Dynasty, he can lift the weight as if it is light, and sway freely.

Master Sanzang vomited lotus flowers and performed various wonderful scriptures. Visions appeared frequently in the sky, showing auspicious energy for a day and auspicious light for all roads.
Seeing that the time was up, Fa Hai stopped at the right time and said to the people present listening to the scriptures: "When the poor monk left Lingshan, he said that he would return to Lingshan in eight days. Now the eight-day period has come. Everyone, let's leave today." Now, when the poor monk returns from Lingshan again, he will open the Dharma altar to teach these 35 scriptures from Lingshan."

Speaking of Fahai, he stood up from the altar, and then his four disciples also came to his side. The five masters and apprentices raised auspicious clouds and dragged them to the sky. When the common people saw each other, it was natural for them to see each other for a long time.

After the master and apprentice left.

After Li Shimin ordered the forbidden army to protect the people to evacuate in an orderly manner, he drove back to the palace.

Lingshan.

"Anuo, Kaye."

"The disciple is here."

"And collect all the scriptures written by the monks."

"Yes."

Not long after, the two put many scriptures in front of the golden lotus of the Buddha in the main hall, and reported to the Buddha: "Buddha, I have collected everything, no more, no less, just the number of the Tripitaka."

Those monks who successfully completed the task naturally felt peaceful in their hearts, and they didn't even feel that this was something to be proud of. If a monk can't memorize scriptures, why should he be a monk?
But after all, some monks didn’t write them all down, so there were inevitably mistakes and omissions in the writing; some didn’t write a single word at all. Some felt that handing in a blank paper could not justify it, so they wrote down their own understanding of Buddhism.

These monks inevitably felt uneasy.

I am afraid of being held accountable by the Buddha, no matter what the reason is. It is a sin if I fail to write it.

The main reason is that there are too many monks in Lingshan at the moment, and many of them have been assigned unpopular scriptures and can write them silently. Especially some old monks who have been in Daleiyin Temple in Lingshan for a long time, they don’t even have arhat status .

This makes those Bodhisattvas and Arhats have no reason to explain. After all, no matter how much they say, it sounds like an excuse.

As for whether these old monks will be thought of by Bodhisattvas, Arhats, and even Buddhas because of the presence of Buddha sitting in Lingshan, they are naturally uneasy and once they make a move, wouldn't they be more guilty of crimes?

Now it is just losing some face, if it is really an act of selfish revenge, it will be a big mistake.

Of course, silently reciting scriptures is by no means an absolute standard to test a monk's profound Dharma, but it can be regarded as an important factor, so those few old monks were still remembered by the Buddha in his heart.

After all, cultivating in Daleiyin Temple in Lingshan itself means that their Dharma is good.

The scriptures were placed in front of the Buddha, but the Buddha did not intend to read them, but called the two venerables beside him: "A Nuo, Kaye."

The two venerables hurried forward to listen.

"Take these scriptures and send them to the scripture storage pavilion."

"Ah this."

The command of the Buddha shocked the monks below. They looked left and right, looked at each other, and looked at each other, especially those who failed to complete the task.

Even Anuo and Jiaye were stunned for a while, wondering whether they should listen to the Buddha's order, after all, this is not a trivial matter. It is related to the scriptures, can they be so hasty?

It was the good-hearted Guanyin Bodhisattva who went out to ask the Buddha for advice on behalf of the monks: "Amitabha Buddha, there are many people in the Lingshan who can silently read all the scriptures. Why don't you fill in the scriptures in the Sutra Pavilion after proofreading them correctly? ?”

"Extremely, extremely—"

"Buddha, let's enter the Sutra Pavilion after completing the scriptures."

The first sentence of the Bodhisattva not only asked the doubts in the hearts of the monks, but the latter sentence obviously won the support of the monks and spoke to their hearts.

Most of those who say these words are practicing Mahayana Buddhism. And these scriptures are actually Mahayana Buddhist scriptures.

Although today's Buddhism is still divided into Mahayana and Hinayana, the methods of the two sides are mostly interoperable. Some Hinayana eminent monks are also very interested in Mahayana Buddhism.

Not to mention the two Buddhas, Medicine Master and Maitreya, even the leading Buddha is also practicing Mahayana Buddhism. Others don't need to say more.

And some monks who specialize in Theravada Buddhism may even feel that the true meaning of Theravada Buddhism is no longer in Lingshan, but in the Eastern Land of Tang Dynasty.

In their view, Tang Sanzang traveling thousands of miles to the west to learn scriptures is actually putting the cart before the horse.

The performance of the monks was seen by the Buddha.

In many cases, only when you lose it will you know how rare it is. It should be noted that the scriptures in the Sutra Pavilion are never fortified against the monks in Lingshan. As long as you want to read them, you can borrow them at any time.

But for more than 1000 years, the Buddha saw it very clearly.

Frequently going in and out of the Sutra Pavilion, most of them are old monks who have practiced Taoism in the mortal world, but Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, who seldom patronize.

As for the arhats, they are still on the path of specialization, and have not yet reached the state of broadness. Reading too many scriptures is actually not a good thing. But there are always exceptions to everything, such as Jianglong Arhat. He is one of the few Arhats who often go to the Buddhist scriptures pavilion.

The Buddha glanced at the Great Sage King Bodhisattva. This Bodhisattva has an extraordinary background. In this life, he is Yang Tianyou, the father of Erlang God Yang Jian. At the time of day, the Great Sage King Bodhisattva used the great sun Buddha flame of the Tripitaka to refine and become one with Yang Tianyou. This was also a scene that the Buddha had never expected before.

The Buddha also did not expect that he would come to participate in this Buddhist Lingshan meeting this time.
But since he came, he still used the name of the Great Sage King Bodhisattva, and Lingshan naturally wouldn't reject him.

The Buddha used his spiritual consciousness to read the scriptures he just wrote on the blank scriptures, as expected. The Great Sage King Bodhisattva naturally could not keep quiet about the scriptures. What he wrote down was his own understanding of Buddhism .

It is not perfunctory, but written extremely seriously, which also contains many Confucian views.

In comparison, what Jin Zha wrote. On the contrary, the Taoist scriptures have more content, and even after the scriptures, a practice method for practicing golden spear skills is attached.

"Please ask the Buddha to proofread the scriptures before entering the cabinet!"

I don't know who took the lead, but after only a few breaths, all the monks came out to petition.

The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the Daxiong Palace, as well as the Arhats in the front row, naturally knew what was going on. The monks in the temple and in the mountains outside the temple could not figure out the situation so quickly.

But at this moment, when they heard the movement from the hall, they couldn't sit still. After all, how could it be a trivial matter to make so many true Buddhas and Bodhisattvas pray for each other?
They simply knelt down to petition.

The Buddha sat firmly on the golden lotus, without any panic: "Don't you know that the Dao is fifty and the Tianyan is four nine? Zhongnengmo’s scriptures are numerous, and the only way to remember them is to keep them in your heart.”

"A Nuo, Kaye."

"exist."

"Send the scriptures to the Sutra Pavilion—"

"Yes."

The two of them did not dare to disobey, and used their magic power to wrap more than 35 scriptures and send them to the Buddhist scriptures pavilion. Not long after, the Sutra Pavilion, which had been emptied by Sanzang's master and apprentice before, was filled again. It seemed that there were still [-] scriptures, but who knew what strange things were inside?

Seeing that the monks were worried, the Buddha said again: "You don't need to panic. If you have memorized the whole scriptures, you can go to the Sutra Pavilion to check for omissions. And one thing is to mark the revisions on the scriptures. time and his own name."

The words of the Buddha spread throughout the entire Lingshan Mountain, and immediately aroused the excitement of the monks.

In particular, a few old monks who practiced unpopular scriptures and got Taoism into the temple are already eager to try to leave their names in the scriptures of Lingshan Sutra Pavilion.

After the Buddha said this sentence, he looked at the other Buddhas and Guanyin Bodhisattva: "You don't have to reveal it in the Sutra Pavilion, why don't you keep a copy of the scriptures in your respective ashrams, how about it?"

"good!"

In the past, the ownership of these scriptures belonged to Lingshan, and they only had the right to borrow them, without the permission of Lingshan, they could not spread them without authorization. This is also one of the reasons why the voice of Theravada Buddhism in Xizhou is getting smaller and smaller.

Moreover, with the spread of Mahayana Buddhism, a large number of Theravada believers have been snatched away. After all, compared with Theravada Buddhism, it seems that Mahayana Buddhism can resonate more with ordinary people.

All living beings are equal, and all sentient beings are saved. This is the fundamental spirit of Mahayana Buddhism, and it is what all living beings in the three realms most lack and desire most.

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has obtained the essence of it, and is known as saving sufferings and disasters, purveying compassion, and doing what he says, so he has his current status.

But even she is not proficient in these 35 scriptures. Obviously, being able to memorize them and understanding their true meaning cannot be confused. But she was able to bring together the directors of the four sects of meditation and esoteric law, and she was obviously a rare polymath in Lingshan.

There was only a moment of silence in the Daxiong Hall, and then they heard the four great King Kong shouting in unison: "Master Sanzang is back!"

"Please come into the hall!" The Buddha said immediately.

The monks heard that the Buddha used the word "please", but they didn't feel that there was anything wrong with it. After all, Master Sanzang's performance along the way alone definitely deserves the word "please".

If you have to use Jin Chanzi's identity to talk about things, I'm afraid that whether Tang Sanzang recognizes it or not is another matter.

After all, Sanzang's awakening of the golden cicada's true spirit has long been spread in the Three Realms. The fact that Lingji Bodhisattva was afraid of Sanzang and did not dare to rescue the Yellow Wind Monster is not a secret in the Three Realms.

But everyone will not make fun of Lingji Bodhisattva because of this.

Because this Master Sanzang even dared to transcend the canopy, and even dared to force a few times in the catastrophe.
Just such a person, even some bodhisattvas present sighed.

If Jin Chanzi back then was a stupefied young man who only acted on his heart and disregarded reason; then the current Master Sanzang would not be able to beat him even if he said it. If it weren't for the help of the Buddha, they would definitely have to fight when they met Master Sanzang. Why did you come to Lingshan to attend the meeting after taking a detour?

But after coming here and experiencing several "tortures", their mentality gradually calmed down.

It's just a debate with Master Sanzang, and it doesn't seem too embarrassing to lose.

The five masters and apprentices went to the Great Hall of the Great Hero again, and after paying homage to the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, Master Sanzang put his hands together and said to the Buddha, "Young monk, send the scriptures to the Tang Dynasty, and complete the translation of the Tripitaka scriptures."

After finishing speaking, Fa Hai released a stack of books from his sleeves and showed them to the Buddha one by one: "This is the scriptures sent back by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty, including the Tao Te Ching, the Nan Hua Jing, the Chongxu Jing, and the Jing Jing. ", "Huang Ting Jing" and other Taoist classics, as well as Confucian classics such as "The Analects", "Mencius", "Great Learning", "The Doctrine of the Mean", "The Book of Songs", "Shangshu", "Book of Rites", "Zhouyi" and "Spring and Autumn Annals."

Fa Hai paused for a moment, then said, "These are all translations by the little monk."

Hearing these words, all the monks felt mixed feelings for a moment. The emperor of Tang Dynasty doesn't seem like a good person.

What is the purpose of sending this Taoist and Confucian scriptures to their Lingshan?
Exchange academics?
As for the "send it back" that Sanzang said, they obviously didn't believe it.

This book is also a conspiracy. Li Shimin just asked Fa Hai to translate these classics and send them to Lingshan. As for whether the people in Lingshan read or not, he doesn't care?

As for the possibility that the monks in Lingshan want to change the entrance hall after reading the Taoist scriptures and Confucian classics, that has nothing to do with him.

Even if there was such a day, Li Shimin thought that he had already reported to the underworld at that time, and even if he looked for it, he couldn't find him.

The Buddha looked at Sanzang and the classics in his hands, and felt that the development of this matter was getting out of his control.

But he didn't care too much about it. He never took action to restrict the spread of Taoism and Confucianism in Xizhou, but just let them develop.

Taoism already had a considerable influence in Xizhou, and Confucianism has become more and more prosperous recently under the lectures of Mr. Ziyu.

If anyone sees him as a weak scholar and thinks he is easy to bully, then he is very wrong. Mr. Ziyu is the disciple of that master. When that master ran rampant in the Central Plains, even the Taiqing sage Li Er, the incarnation of Li Er, tried to stay away as much as possible.

"Anuo, Kaye."

"The disciple is here." The two venerables rushed out.

"Store the scriptures donated by the emperor of the Tang Dynasty in the Sutra Pavilion."

"Yes."

The two venerables left with the scriptures.

On the way, Jiaye didn't know what to think of, and said to Anuo: "The two of us will call the sutra-moving monk from now on."

On the other hand, Anuo smiled and said, "I'll go to the Sutra Pavilion in a while, and see if there are any mistakes or omissions that the two of us can write."

"Brother, what do you mean?"

"Such a matter of leaving a name, it is natural to be one step ahead of others, to seize the first move, otherwise, we will lose this convenient opportunity for me."

"Amitabha, good, good!" Kaye said again: "The two of us might as well go back later, or we can avoid the difficulty of debating scriptures with Master Tripitaka."

A Nuo even said with emotion: "It's a pity that Master Sanzang has already taken the scriptures and returned to the Tang Dynasty, otherwise this 'Lingshan Debate' would have to be counted among the ninety-nine and eighty-one disasters."
