Chapter 210 Ask the Monk

Chapter 210 Ask the Monk

The name of Hanshan is clear. In the first year of Wanli, when he was walking on Wutai Mountain, he saw the beautiful scenery of Hanshan Mountain in Beitai, and named himself Hanshan Mountain.

When Zhu Yijun accompanied the empress dowagers of the two palaces, and accompanied by the female eunuch, Han Shan had been waiting for a long time outside the Nuan Pavilion of the Hall of Mental Cultivation. When everyone sat down, the eunuch led them into the main hall.

Han Shan is a Zen monk. According to Taizu's regulations, he can only wear a tea-brown monk's robe and a jade-colored cassock with a green sash. When he entered, Zhu Yijun looked up and saw that he was over 30 years old, with crouching silkworm eyebrows, red phoenix eyes, calm demeanor, and a bit like a monk.

Zhu Yijun turned to look at Empress Dowager Li again, saw her smiling face, hands folded, and nodded slightly to Han Shan.Heart said: "It seems that she believes deeply."

Hanshan didn't dare to look around, so when he entered the door, he bowed to the ground, like bowing to a Buddha, with his palms up and his head down.

According to the purpose of Buddhism, this monk is an outsider. Even if he sees the emperor, he just bows his head and bows. However, in the Northern Wei Dynasty, the monk Tongfaguo said to the emperor: "I am not worshipping the Son of Heaven, but bowing to Buddha's ear." At that time, the emperor was regarded as the Tathagata.

In this way, the problem of etiquette for Buddhist disciples to face the emperor was solved. Fago said that the monk bowed to the emperor, not to worship power but to worship Buddha - but he was deceiving himself.Faguo was the first monk in Chinese Buddhist history to kowtow to the emperor. After that, monks who were fortunate enough to meet the emperor would bend their knees along the principles advocated by Faguo.

When Zhu Yijun saw his five bodies on the ground, he waved his hand and said, "No need to be too polite, give me a seat."

Han Shan thanked him, got up and saluted the two palaces, before taking his seat.

Zhu Yijun said with a smile: "You first prayed to the emperor at the Wutai practice meeting, and then returned to Beijing to preside over the ceremony. Princess Rongchang's mother and son are both safe, thank you for protecting the law."

Han Shan hurriedly said, "Poor monks and others would never dare to take credit. The emperor is a Buddha in this world, and he has a hundred gods to protect him; the queen and princess are golden branches and jade leaves for thousands of years, how can all evils invade the body? This is the emperor's own good fortune. The power of a poor monk."

Cisheng Empress Dowager Li listened with a smile: "Master, you don't have to be too modest. According to you, the former emperor had two children before the emperor, but unfortunately he died prematurely - did the former emperor not have the blessing of the gods? It can be seen, or The master protects the Dharma well."

When Han Shan heard this, he was very worried about Empress Dowager Li's brain circuit after she fell into religious fanaticism. He knew that Empress Dowager Li was pleading for him in front of the emperor, but what he said just now was a polite remark, but she refuted it as a serious one.Unprepared, this topic could not be picked up.

But if you don't answer it, it's not good. First, it's disrespectful. Second, if the emperor takes it seriously, then if the prince and princess die, will you still be alive?
Although Empress Dowager Rensheng believed in Buddhism, she was not superstitious. After listening to what the always shrewd Queen Mother Li said, it was no longer in tune.

When Han Shan raised his eyes slightly, he saw that the emperor was also looking at him with a smile on his lips, and his face turned slightly red.Immediately, his mind suddenly turned, and he wanted to make this proposition come true.

Because Zhu Yijun didn't speak, Empress Dowager Li was ignorant, Empress Dowager Chen just smiled, and the atmosphere in the Hall of Mental Cultivation was slightly embarrassing.

Hanshan is a transparent person. After being slightly embarrassed, he put his hands together and said honestly: "What the queen mother said is that it is a poor monk. Although I searched for the true truth later, but I didn't get the true fruit without a holiday."

While speaking, he peeked at the emperor again, and seeing his serious face, Han Shan's heart skipped a beat.He hurriedly put his hands together and said a stanza: "The future is unimaginable, and the past is nothing." With his eyes slightly lowered, he took out the majestic treasured image, and pulled the force up sharply.

Seeing his boldness, Zhu Yijun raised his eyebrows and became somewhat interested in this silly mountain.I comforted him first: "You don't have to be restrained. Today, I serve the Queen Mother, and I originally wanted to hear some Buddhist teachings."

Empress Dowager Li interjected again: "Your Majesty, you don't know how deep this monk is! Zi Bai told me that Han Shan had already arrived when he was 28 years old, this time, here—" But he couldn't come up with the technical terms.

Han Shan hurriedly took over the topic and said, "When you return to the Queen Mother, the "Huayan Sutra" says that it is "the sea seal luminous samadhi". If you are at sea, the sea is full of sky, and your thoughts are empty, and you are in a cool and bright world."

Seeing Zhu Yijun nodded slightly.Hanshan said to Empress Li again: "Besides, I know with Empress Dowager that although you have experienced this situation during your practice, you must not be ignorant but have it. However, a person who has no thoughts and is nothing special, must not be greedy and obsessed with it. Let go of the book."

Empress Dowager Li rejoiced in admiration and nodded to be taught.Empress Dowager Chen's eyes were dull. For the first time, she felt that she was much worse than Empress Dowager Li in terms of cultural level.Zhu Yijun had no interest in this Buddhist scripture at first, but he was fascinated by Hanshan's demeanor, showing a curious color.

Seeing Zhu Yijun's expression, Han Shan was as excited as he was beating a drum, but his face did not show at all. After saying this, he was once again dignified and maintained his status.

Zhu Yijun pondered for a while, and then said, "I heard from the mother that it is rare for you to pierce the blood to copy the scriptures in order to repay your parents' kindness."

Han Shan hurriedly folded his body and said: "The emperor stabbed the blood and copied scriptures at a young age because the empress dowager was sick. There is no one in the world who is not grateful for the emperor's filial piety. The poor monk only admires the emperor's filial piety in case, but he can't be The king's praise."

Zhu Yijun snorted and asked the monk with a smile, "Then do you think monks have any kindness to repay in addition to their parents' deep gratitude?"

Han Shan listened, thought for a moment, then bowed and replayed: "Return to the emperor's words. The poor monk thought that he still had the blessing of the emperor and the family and the country to repay." When Zhu Yijun heard his words, he knew that this was a Well-behaved.

Noncommittal, he continued to ask: "Is there any more?"

Han Shandao: "There is also the kindness of the master's preaching; the kindness of beings' protection. These kindnesses are those outsiders who need to be in their hearts day and night, and remember to report them at all times."

"Then how to repay?"

"Because of the suffering of all sentient beings in the Three Realms, arouse bodhicitta, perform compassionate deeds, and act for the bodhisattva, which is to repay the great kindness of the emperor, parents, teachers and sentient beings."

"Can meditation, meditation, and practice be called acts of compassion or bodhisattva behavior?"

Although Han Shan saw that the emperor asked more and more questions, he was used to playing tricks, except that he had to be careful when speaking because of his identity as the emperor, this kind of question did not bother him at all: "If you go back to the emperor, you will practice all kinds of things. , but to sharpen the knife without cutting the woodworker's ear by mistake."

I thought this was a perfect answer.According to the Zen practice, this sentence is enough to make the opponent think for a long time.Unexpectedly, the emperor did not talk about martial arts, and he went to the bottom of it: "Master Hanshan thinks that doing compassionate deeds is the foundation of doing things for the Bodhisattva, and practicing and certifying the Tao is the end?"

Hanshan began to think that the emperor was just asking casually, but when he saw the emperor trying to see the poor, he was actually debating Buddhism with him in depth, and he couldn't help but set his fighting spirit on fire.

In this debate, one cannot follow the opponent's train of thought.Han Shan folded his hands together, and first proclaimed the Buddha's name: "Amitabha! The emperor's words, pointing to the root of the heart, and asking about the root." Well, let's pat it first, so that the debate does not irritate the head.

"This recognition of kindness and repayment of kindness is the practice. When the bodhicitta comes out, not only doing things, walking, sitting and lying down, but even sleeping is practice. How can there be any difference between the root and the end?"

Seeing the emperor listening and thinking, he added: "Your Majesty, unless a person has attained the righteousness, he will be the same in this world. Even if there is a cause and effect in a previous life, when he can't see it, he will still be in this one; whether sentient beings are outside or in the world, this is the same. The four kinds of kindness are inexhaustible. Only by practicing and repaying kindness with one's whole body, can one be reborn without regrets, and without regrets, there will be bliss. This is a little insight from a poor monk. "

Seeing the smile on the emperor's face getting more and more, Han Shan quickly recalled his answer, and added: "If someone outside the party thinks about what they can cultivate, this is attachment; That's even evil."
