46. Sulking Prince

In the carriage.

Xiao ShengNian asked, “What did you throw out?”

Su Jie answered, “Drumstick.”

Xiao ShengNian was surprised, “You have the heart to throw away food?”

Su Jie nodded, “I made sure no meat was left and was ready to throw the bone when the bandit lifted the curtain. So I just threw it at him.”

Xiao ShengNian opened the carriage curtain to take a look.

Su Jie also leaned over and craned his neck. The bandit’s eyes were wide open, as if asking Su Jie why he had killed him.

Su Jie continued to nibble the roast duck in his hand without expression and sat back down in his seat.

Xiao ShengNian felt this scene was way too strange. He had seen all kinds of bloody scenes. But this…was way too creepy. Su Jie, his little slave, killed with a tiny bone without even blinking his eyes yet still had the mood to eat the food in the hand……

“You’re still in the mood for food?” asked Xiao ShengNian, the corner of his eyes involuntarily twitching out of speechlessness.

Su Jie put aside the food in his hand, took Xiao ShengNian’s handkerchief and wiped his mouth before asking, “You didn’t ask me why I killed him.”

“Compared to that, I’m more interested in your martial arts. I thought you know only shallow skills and didn’t expect you to have such superb kung fu. You can basically kill with anything on hand.”

“You flattered me. I believe you can do that too, can’t you?”

Xiao ShengNian didn’t respond to that question, and the two men both fell silent, each with something on mind as the neighs came from outside the carriage. For a moment, the carriage was silent and even somewhat depressive.

Atmosphere is a wonderful thing. However lively it is at first, it would just plunge to extreme stillness when no one talks. Even when you want to speak again, you don’t know how to break the near-freezing atmosphere.

Su Jie didn’t eat, and Xiao ShengNian did not speak until the voice of Zhui Xing came from outside the carriage, “Your Highness, there are 213 mountain bandits in total, 4 run away, 1 dead, 208 disabled.”

“Report it to the local prefecture and continue our journey.”

“Yes, Your Highness.” Zhui Xing’s words finally broke the silence in the carriage, but the two people in the carriage still did not speak again the whole time.

When they were about to reach the next city, a surge of inexplicable anger rose in Xiao ShengNian.

He was a noble prince. How come little slave knew nothing about compromise?

If there was really an afterlife, then he must have owned this young boy before him in his previous life!

Xiao ShengNian was still sulking when he felt a pull by his sleeve.

“Your Highness…” Su Jie spoke first.

Xiao ShengNian’s anger subsided a bit as he thought his little slave budged first. He gave a light hum in response to Su Jie’s words while thinking to himself, “What will little slave say?”

“I want to relieve myself.” Su Jie said shyly.

Xiao ShengNian: “…”

At this moment, Xiao ShengNian was on the verge of cursing for the first time in his life.

He fought hard to hold back his anger and said to Zhui Xing, “Stop the carriage.”

Su Jie went out for a short while before he came back with a beaming face, which along with his gorgeously red robe looked extremely captivating.

Xiao ShengNian leaned on the soft cushion and closed his eyes, thinking, out of sight out of mind.

Su Jie lifted the curtain and watched the receding scenery outside, his lips slightly pressed. It was not until the carriage was about to enter the next city that he spoke to Xiao ShengNian again, “Where is Da Hua?”

Xiao ShengNian opened his eyes, recalling what Da Hua was –Ah, right. That tiger of Zhou ZaiYue.

Xiao ShenNian closed his eyes again and answered with a lazy voice, “He’s in the mansion, eating and sleeping all day long. He’s got a stomach even bigger than yours.”

“Haven’t seen him for ages.” Su Jie hadn’t seen Da Hua ever since being pounced on by it. And it seemed Zhou ZaiYue had also forgotten about his tiger. Poor Da Hua just lost the love of his master like this.

“You missing him?” Xiao ShengNian’s tone sounded slightly unhappy.

“A little.” Su Jie insensibly spoke his mind.

Xiao ShengNian uttered a “oh” before saying coldly, “When we get back, you can keep Da Hua in your room so you can hold it in sleep.”

Su Jie chuckled, “Maybe he will bite off my head in the middle of the night.”

“That’s perfect. That’ll give me a justifiable reason to boil it for tiger soup.”

In this simple conversation, the two men forgot their previous unhappiness.

When the carriage arrived at the next town, Zhui Xing found a roomy looking inn.

“Your Highness, we’ve arrived at the Arrival Inn.”
