24. One vs. Twenty

Translator: Flying Lines

Su Yan curved his lips as his eyes swept across the family retainers around him, his countenance unchanged. With great casualness, he said, “Have a try then. Let’s see if they can defeat me.”

The youth in gorgeous robe couldn’t help but hesitate when seeing his casualness as he had personally ‘experienced’ Su Jie’s superb Kung Fu. But then on a second thought, he believed Su Jie was just bluffing. He had faith in these carefully selected family retainers who were all strong and powerful. While Su Jie was just a good-looking and somewhat frail boy.

However, the man behind Su Jie was a bit terrifying. He wore that poker face the whole time. The look in his eyes could chill you to the bone, freezing like the never-thawing ice. The dark robe highlighted his tall figure and the murderous air around him was suffocating. Suddenly, Su Jie felt the one behind him was no longer a human being but a killing weapon forged after countless kills and slaughters.

Su Jie, in surprise, turned back and took a glance at Zhui Xing. He, having also gone through blood and kills, was the first to perceive the change of breath and air in Zhui Xing. That murderous air was invisible. Ordinary folks would only feel a bit uncomfortable when facing Zhui Xing but had no idea why it would occur. But Su Jie knew the murderous air was forged after long years of killing. It would not be revealed when Zhui Xing restrained himself, but once it was unleashed, the air around him would change, turning pressurizing and suffocating.

“I’ll make you beg for my mercy. Or I would disgrace my family name, Yue.” The youth sneered, his face somewhat pale under Zhui Xing’s killing intention. He stared at Zhui Xing warily, a bit afraid he would attack. But he couldn’t flinch at this critical moment or he would rather die from the shame. So he braced himself and prayed that Zhui Xing was just a push-over with a tough look while ordering to his men, “Go teach that man in red a good lesson and drag him over.”

Upon getting the order, some family retainers walked toward Su Jie.

As there was no order from Su Jie, Zhui Xing just shot these men a cold glance which sent shivers down the family retainers’ spine.

“What are you guys standing here for? Go give him a good beating. I need only two beside me,” rebuked the youth.

Hearing that, all the rest family retainers rushed to Su Jie while Zhui Xing was still waiting for Su Jie’s order which he’d never get as Su Jie wasn’t used to giving orders. Or to put it this way, he was always independent just like now when the family retainers came at him he chose to fight them head on.

Zhui Xing stood there, unmoved, but his eyes followed Su Jie closely. He had to help when Su Jie was in danger and on the other hand, he had to observe every move of Su Jie to see if he was truly a simple Jianghu boy.

Zhui Xing couldn’t interfere without order so he stood there straight like an erect pine tree, his murderous air frightening most family retainers away.

The result was Su Jie knocked all family retainers down. He knew Zhui Xing was observing him, so he refrained himself from using all his strength and all the quick skills. Therefore, the fight lasted a bit longer than expected.

The youth in gorgeous robe was stunned to see all his men down on the ground. Frightened, he wanted to escape but refrained from doing so out of dignity. Heart mixed with rage and shame, he now looked hideous and kicked the family retainer by his side who was holding his left foot in pain while fuming, “You useless wastes!”
