Chapter 24: Part 3 — This was the seat of Mrs. Jiang. Until the day she was sick of sitting here and did not want it, she would not let anyone snatch it.

Jiang Jingchuan stared at Su Yan and didn’t plan to discuss this anymore. “It isn’t bad that you like staying at home, but I just wanted to tell you that no one is restraining you. You can go out and play if you want to and do whatever you want.”

Su Yan then remembered Wang Siqi’s words. Feigning forlornness she asked: “Do you think I am useless?”

Jiang Jingchuan was bewildered, “What do you mean?”

“I cannot do anything, neither assist you, nor help you at work. I live the same everyday……” Su Yan rested her chin in her hand then slightly turned her head and skillfully let out a woeful sigh.

Jiang Jingchuan felt that something must have happened. He frowned and questioned: “Why all of a sudden? What happened?”

She would not mention Wang Siqi at all. The expression with which she spoke now was all to set the tone for later tonight. Su Yan shook her head slowly, “It is nothing. I just suddenly felt that I am pretty useless.”

Since Su Yan made it clear that she didn’t want to tell him, Jiang Jingchuan didn’t question further. After a little thinking, he seriously looked at Su Yan: “What kind of life do you want to live?”

What kind of life do you want to live?

Su Yan was stunned upon hearing that and did not know what to say.

“To work hard and enjoy success in your career?” Jiang Jingchuan asked.

Su Yan shook her head quickly. Although she had read the Ancient books till she became familiar with them and also researched and studied on military strategy and tactics; under the surface she had no interest in fighting or in a career.

A smile appeared on Jiang Jingchuan’s face as he continued to ask: “To be a good wife and loving mother, assisting your husband and educating the children?”

Su Yan hesitated for a while then shook her head again. Her answer was actually testing Jiang Jingchuan’s patience with her, which was her true goal. She was not at all interested in becoming a good wife and a loving mother.

“Then can you tell me what kind of life you want to live?” Jiang Jingchuan was very serious.

“This is the life I want to live.” Su Yan decided to answer in half truths, “Getting up in the morning everyday to eat a delicious breakfast, then going to look at the flowers in the garden. It does not matter if the time goes fast or slow, I just like this life.”

She didn’t have to worry about the basic necessities. She could buy wantonly. She didn’t need to worry about rushing around tomorrow. She wanted the future where she could control what happened next.

If you wanted to walk the road with brilliant future prospects, you needed to make great efforts before you even managed to step on this road.

Jiang Jingchuan couldn’t help but stretch out his hand to pat her head. His smile deepened, “Then I am very honoured to let my wife live the life she wanted.”

Su Yan looked at Jiang Jingchuan, not knowing what expression to make because she did not know what Jiang Jingchuan meant by those words.

“Let me tell you: Whether you want to achieve success in your career, or in your life, this is your choice. Everyone’s desires are different. So no one can evaluate another’s usefulness. Many may spend their whole life not knowing what they want. You can understand what you want yourself and can still get it. This kind of success, at this point, I can’t compare to you.” Jiang Jingchuan’s words sounded lofty, but they were from his heart.

Su Yan completely agreed with Jiang Jingchuan’s words. He was brushing up her good opinion. In fact, the topic they were discussing now was very profound. Su Yan also asked appropriately: “Are you living the life you want now?”

To Su Yan, Jiang Jingchuan was a person who was a winner in life.

I have money. I am rich. I am powerful. I am handsome and have a happy relationship with family. I also have a young wife who is as lovely as a flower. \(^o^)/~

If that was not being a winner in life, then what was?

If Jiang Jingchuan was still dissatisfied with his current life then it was time to get a knife.

Jiang Jingchuan was silent for a while, when the steak came out he finally came to his senses and said: “I can’t say that this is the life I want, but I like my current life.”

Su Yan wasn’t very concerned about what Jiang Jingchuan wanted. This subject of conversation would be soon revealed. She felt embarrassed when she looked at the steak in front.

Why did the tableware have a  knife?

Was it not better to use chopsticks!

Who gave her a knife instead of chopsticks!

How to use this……

What should she do? Why did she come to this restaurant to eat! (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

Jiang Jingchuan was cutting his steak. He looked up to see Su Yan not moving to eat. He first thought she wanted him to cut it for her. He put down his knife and fork and faced Su Yan with a smile, “Okay, give it to me. I will cut it for you.”

It was right to cut steak for my wife.

Su Yan heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately Jiang Jingchuan was observant otherwise she would have been embarrassed.

Jiang Jingchuan’s fingers were quite long and slender. Joints clearly visible. He was seriously cutting the steak. Su Yan didn’t at all shy away from staring. She said with a bit of happiness, “You are very kind to me.”

It would be even better if you could fall in love with me.

Looking at such a Jiang Jingchuan, Su Yan couldn’t help but wonder: If he could be so considerate of her when he only liked her deeply, if she was loved by such a person, then in other’s eyes would it not be the happiest life?

Suddenly, she felt a bit expectant.

Jiang Jingchuan felt happy when he heard that as he pushed the plate towards Su Yan, “I only did what I am supposed to do.”

While seeing Su Yan’s satisfied smile, Jiang Jingchuan remembered a matter. At that time he was very young and had overheard his parents quarreling. He saw his otherwise proud father unexpectedly meekly begging for forgiveness from his mother. Speaking all kinds of foolish words not suiting his status, which finally made his mother laugh. At that time, he simply wasn’t willing to accept that this was the CEO Jiang who was feared in the business circles. He wished he was blind so as to not see that scene. In the recent years, it seemed that the feelings between his parents had become very good. Now Jiang Jingchuan understood that being a good husband was also a success.

He was already a successful businessman. Now if he wanted to challenge himself, then he should become a successful husband.

While Jiang Jingchuan and Su Yan were talking, the other side of the restaurant happened to be discussing Jiang Jingchuan.

“Although Jiang Corporation is the largest in ‘A’ City, Jiang Jingchuan is quite hard to get close to. I’m afraid that it would be difficult to make an alliance with him.” The man with the gold rimmed glasses said as he slowly drank red wine.

Lu Yang was straightening his cuffs. After hearing that he laughed: “Jiang Jingchuan has the capital. What’s more, as it happens, I’m also not easy to get along with.”

The man’s face stiffened and he stopped talking.

Just then, the manager of the restaurant came over and whispered a few lines in Lu Yang’s ears. Suddenly Lu Yang’s complexion changed to that of amazement.

“What? Jiang Jingchuan is here?”

The manager of the restaurant respectfully nodded, “Yes, Mr. Jiang has come with a female companion.”

“Female companion?” Lu Yang pondered for a while, “Is it Mrs. Jiang?”

That man, after hearing these words, immediately became interested and began to ask: “Mrs. Jiang? I didn’t go that day, but I heard she is very beautiful.”

Lu Yang stood up and buttoned up his cuff then said to the manager: “I will go over to say hello.”

After that, Lu Yang looked at that man. With slightly clenched lips and a mysterious smile, he spoke: “Jingchuan is not a person who is easy to push around. You frivolously spoke of his wife, luckily he didn’t hear it. Otherwise would your company be able to withstand his torment?”

That man’s expression turned cold but he didn’t dare say anything else. He carefully looked around him for fear that what he just said had been heard by others.

Lu Yang followed the manager to where Jiang Jingchuan was. He suddenly stopped. Jiang Jingchuan’s back was to him;  Su Yan was directly facing him. Under the candlelight, Su Yan was resting her chin on her hand and smiling while looking at Jiang Jingchuan. He couldn’t hear what Jiang Jingchuan said but she laughed lightly.
