Wine and Gun

Chapter 65

—The blood belonged to one man, Dr. Albarino Bacchus.

Dr. Bacchus' body has never been found, and at first attempts by the police to find him or to get Armalette to reveal the whereabouts of his body were unsuccessful. Day after day, until Dr. Backus' closest comrades gave up the fight, the WLPD had pronounced the forensic doctor dead in February of this year.

Many people speculate on the pianist's behavior from a more casual perspective, and some people who have followed this series of cases - including this author - believe that the reason why the pianist is targeting Dr. Bacchus is also because of his Destroys the work of the Sunday Gardener. And as we know, the Sunday gardener is the one who insists on homicide as a work of art.

And from a completely macro perspective—that is, the point in time when we recall these events from a detached point of view—throw the years back to a time when all sorts of appalling homicides occurred between the second half of 2016 and the end of 2017:

As we recall the unnatural anger of the Westland pianist at Dr. Bacchus, the bouquet of mint in Langdon's heart with a Sunday gardener decor, the Sunday gardener and Westland The corpses with which unknowable whispers were passed between the pianists, recalling the escape, recalling the appalling massacre in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary that followed...

In that way, Bob Langdon's end and the bouquet of flowers on his chest seem to have a reasonable explanation, and even the predicament of an innocent forensic doctor may be the deranged behavior of a man in a mad love--

It could also be a love letter to a Sunday gardener.

[1] Interlude: a kind of independent cabaret or burlesque skit that was added between acts when Italian operas were performed in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

[2] Regarding commercial bail:

Bob Langdon was indicted for grievous bodily harm, and the amount of bail required for such crimes was too high for Langdon to pay. In this case, he can turn to a professional guarantor.

Landon will pay ten percent of the bail to a commercial surety who signs a surety letter guaranteeing that the defendant can attend the trial or appear in court on time and at the location. The surety can take the accused on bail without paying bail. . If Langdon ran away before the trial (and he did), the full bond would be paid by sureties.

Of course, if Langdon didn't run away, the commercial guarantor would earn 10 percent of the bail that Langdon had given to the guarantor, and that's how the industry made money.

However, since many suspects will run away before the court session, it is risky to be a commercial guarantor. They usually try to do everything possible to ensure that the criminal suspect can participate in the court trial normally, otherwise they must bear the loss of the suspect's escape.

Chapter 18 The Log of Bounty Hunter Alan Todd

October 9, 2016

—I am going to Westland.

This is a bit rushed. In fact, that phone call woke me up from a dream. I bet I slept less than two hours and was exhausted and had a splitting headache. I didn't know the caller ID number on the phone screen, and I swore at the time that if the caller didn't matter, I'd absolutely scold him.

But not.

"Mr. Todd," said the man on the phone. "I'm a business guarantor from the City of Westland named William Smith."

I have to admit, I don't like the way he speaks, the subtle spacing between his accent and the pauses between the words makes it sound like he's an arrogant bastard - even though he's judging the other person for the tone of his voice It seems very irrational, but this is the first impression he gave me.

I've never heard of this name, not to mention that I'm sleepy and have a headache, such a highly stressful job often ends up like this. I answered him in a hoarse voice: "Hello, Mr. Smith."

"You were recommended to me by a colleague of mine who said you were the best bail enforcement agent he's ever worked with," the man said, looking cold even when he said compliments, "I hope you can Accept a commission..."

"Tell me about it?" I said. "If one of your colleagues recommended you, you should know that I don't like going to Westland very much."

Westland is the only place in the state where the residents may actually be swallowed by a perverted murderer. A strangled murderer.

The law and order in that ghost place is too bad. Except for very few places, no one walks on the street after nine o'clock in the evening. I hate Westland purely out of a self-preservation instinct, and I really don't want to spend the night chasing down criminals while potentially being shot in the back by robbers.

The man paused for a moment, then recounted flatly: "I sponsored a gentleman named Bob Langdon, whose trial will begin at the end of this month: he is charged with attempted second-degree murder."
