Chapter 1 – Me, My Younger Sister and the Student Council President

I was wondering whether I would like soba or grilled fish for dinner tonight when my sister Suzuha came home.

“Nii~san! Nii~san~~!! Huuu~~~!!!”

“What’s wrong?”

When I heard Suzuha’s story as she cried her heart out, it turned out she had challenged a senior student to a fight at school and had been beaten spectacularly.

“I’m sorry! I’m your younger sister, but I’ve tarnished the name of my brother who’s the strongest!”

“No, no, I’m not the strongest or anything, I’ve never claimed that. Besides, I’m just an ordinary person, remember?”

My younger sister began attending the Strongest Royal Female Knight Academy this spring.

It is a specialized educational institution for training kingdom knights and is considered the most popular and difficult to enter in the kingdom.

The entrance exam difficulty is insanely high, to the point where even the children of nobles who have been rigorously trained by private tutors since childhood often fail.

For someone from a commoner’s household like ours, Suzuha’s acceptance into the academy was an incredible achievement in itself.

“Well, Suzuha is already fairly strong, isn’t she? But the world is vast, so there are times when you might lose.”

“But how can I lose to anyone other than Nii-san…!”

“Suzuha is going to become a knight from now on and fight against many strong opponents. So, she needs to take today’s loss as a lesson to win those battles.”

“…Yes, you’re right. I’m still immature.”

Suzuha seems to have calmed down. That’s good.

“Well then, let’s have a katsudon for dinner, so that Suzuha can win the rematch next time.”

“Yay!”

As expected of a sports-oriented girl, Suzuha loves meat, fried foods, and cheese beef bowls. At least, much more than soba or grilled fish.

It’s not good to always have heavy meals, but let’s comfort Suzuha with her favorite food today.

As I headed towards the kitchen, Suzuha called out to me from behind.

“Speaking of which, Nii-san, about that rematch…”

“Yeah?”

“It will probably happen sometime this week, or at the latest, next week.”

“Isn’t that pretty soon?”

I wondered if it was really necessary to frequently fight against specific opponents, even though Suzuha was attending a school for knight training.

“At that time, I think the person involved would be Nii-san, not me.”

“…Why me?”

“I was so frustrated when I lost that when we parted, I said, ‘My brother is so much stronger than me.'”

“Huh…”

“And then my opponent got really worked up.”

“…I have a bad feeling about this.”

“Since she asked me all about Nii-san, I told her everything about him. About how strong and cool Nii-san is, and how he trained me to become who I am. Then, my opponent became very interested.”

“……”

“She said she will come to our house in the near future, and I agreed. She is a foolish woman to deliberately come all the way here to face Nii-san.”

“…Suzuha, you’re skipping dinner tonight.”

“Why!?”

In the end, it was too pitiful to skip dinner for a growing, athletic girl, so the dinner menu was changed from a large portion of katsudon to half a serving of plain udon.

It seems that Suzuha deeply reflected on her actions.
